The fate of the Pendragon siblings’ mothers

Ygraine, Queen of Camelot Ygraine died ‘officially’ due to complications during childbirth. Truthfully, Uther went to Nimueh for help in conceiving a child using magic however, to create life there had to be a death. After her death Uther banned all practices of magic and committed mass genocide. Ygraine’s brother, Tristan de Bois, blamed Uther for his sister’s death and challenged him to a duel to the death, which he lost.

Lady Vivienne, Duchess of Cornwall (theory) Whilst Gorlois was away in battle Lady Vivienne and Uther had an affair which led to Morgana being conceived. It is probable if Morgana was a boy Uther may have claimed her as his child. After Ygraine’s death Vivienne’s magic is discovered, Uther probably wanted to be rid of her discreetly as she is a noblewoman and the mother of his child. Morgana never speaks about her mother. This implies Gorlois didn’t talk about her much and there may not have been much love lost between them knowing she had two illegitimate children.
