Phantom Ortho is in a bit of a special situation. I mentioned it briefly in this post. Human Ortho's soul is in there, but that isn't the case for the other phantoms (their presence in the Book 7 situations notwithstanding, since that's mixed up in dream stuff). At least, that's how I've interpreted things.

Given that, I think Little Silver would have better luck talking to Jamil's hair snakes than any of the other phantoms.

I like to think that the snakes have a little bit of Jamil's personality in them, since they're part of his magical manifestation.

What happens if, due to magic shenanigans, little Silver manages to get the Diasomnia Four to visit his homeworld?

Let's hope his aunt is ready for three fae and one human.

A group of weirdos from another world plop down on Amalia's doorstep alongside her nephew.

Amalia extends her usual hospitality and gradually pries the full story from the visitors (namely Lilia), who regale her with tales of NRC's dangerous happenings...and all the times Sebek ran into a broom that Little Silver lodged into their wall.

As a guardian, she is very concerned. As a lover of stories, she's fascinated. And confused.

As for the visit, Malleus makes a flawless first impression, of course, as does our dear Big Silver. Such polite and helpful boys. She swaps tales with Lilia about parenting unusual children and they end up besties in a heartbeat. Sebek...he's precious. Amalia doesn't even mind his lack of an indoor voice. She finds his boisterous diligence to be very charming.

Any of those three kids would make a fine son-in-law...

Malleus isn't in a skirt. It's a blanket that was pinned on the other side. Malleus can't fit into any of Little Silver's skirts.

Of course, everyone gets invited to the waffle bar. After Malleus gets first dibs. The gargoyle waffles were for him, after all.

You are correct; I don't go looking for stuff that's Japan-only. I don't mind if I happen across it or if someone sends it to me. I have some friends who play on the Japanese server.

One of them warns me when Malleus stuff comes up because they're well aware of my bias.

I have seen Silver's horse picture, and it is quite nice. Mostly it's nice to see him actually do something with his hair. Poor boy has a case of perpetual "I just woke up like this" hair...though his looks better than mine...

I like to think that my little SIlver will help the big SIlver fix up his hair on club days. Maybe add some decorations to the hat without telling anyone.

And definitely get hit by the horse to get a good photo.

The Hunchback of Notre Dame's soundtrack was stuck in my head, so here we go.

I didn't even try to draw Rollo's hat...or outfit details. There are so many embellishments. What a high-maintenance boy.

I actually had this idea before drawing the Jamil/Jafar doodles, but I put it off because the Aladdin series was calling to me.

If you’re still doing scenes from Aladdin, can you do something with Lil Silver (as Aladdin) and Jamil (as Beggar Jafar)? [It was the part in the movie where Jafar disguised himself as an old beggar to get Aladdin to grab the lamp out of the cave.]

Image size is A4 (~8.3" x 11.7"), 300dpi by default and adjusted to fit the image. I can work with a specific size if you let me know before I begin. Large images will have an extra fee, depending on the size.

I don't mind fluffy ship art, but don't ask me to draw something that would need to be censored before showing it to a small child or my grandma.

Griffin Swap!

Each dorm switches their own griffin with another dorm’s for the day.

It's a weird day for the griffins...or, rather, their caretakers.

Due to a series of unfortunate coincidences, the temporary arrangements are as follows:

Dinner: Octavinelle. After hanging out with Ruggie, some bad habits have rubbed off on him. He's become an opportunistic food thief. This is not good for a restaurant.

King: Ignihyde. This actually goes pretty well, because Riddle made sure that all residents behave. Even the animals. The only problem is that King thinks Idia should be following the Heartslabyul rules too, but lacks the ability to explain them.

Don: Heartslabyul. He seems to think he's in charge and is offended that nobody's listening. Deuce does his best to help, but Don misses his enforcers. The Leech boys always sneak him the best snacks...

Lily: Savanaclaw. She also seems to think she's in charge and is bothered by Leona's indifference. She also spends a lot of time trying to drag Leona to the bathroom and shoving skin care stuff in his face. Leona is more irritated at how much like Vil she is than the pestering itself.

Ravi: Pomfiore. She sleeps so much that Vil forgot she was there...until morning came and she started jumping on the bed. It seems that Kalim spends his days off playing with her from the moment he wakes up.

Nyx: Diasomnia. Not surprisingly, she's a bit shy. Sebek went looking for her, but his booming voice only made her retreat further under Malleus's throne, which was the last place anyone thought to look. She only came out because she smelled food. Unfortunately, it was Lilia's cooking.

Violet: Scarabia. He spent most of the time trying to perch on top of Jamil's head, to varying degrees of success. Nobody wanted to ask him about it.

It took about one and a half days to get the griffins back to their rightful dorms. Idia did not enjoy having to go in person to pick up Nyx. Leona was about ready to throw Lily back to Vil. The other handovers went fairly well, aside from Dinner.

Dinner did not want to leave Mostro Lounge.

The Stitch event rerun may be winding down, but summer is kicking up.

And a dash of telepathy gets our island crew all of the plot details in record time.

I love how perfectly-suited Floyd is to the whole island survival/extraterrestrial scenario. I want to eat his deserted island menu.

A Wandering Dream

A bit of self-indulgence to celebrate my birthday (June 20), which I also gave to my little Silver. It's a good day.

Silver's dreams were always strange, at least according to the friends he told about them. Abstract scenes that felt almost familiar, cast in shades of nighttime. He drifted around shadowy landscapes, often lit only by the moon and stars that watched his every move.

One setting that he kept returning to was a hazy forest. At least, it seemed to be a forest. No matter how far he walked, however, he never reached the trees. The full moon cast impossibly long shadows along the ground, and his shadow whispered his name. Despite the solemn atmosphere, he enjoyed that dream. Returning to it felt like going home.

On one quiet night, he fell back into that forest, but it was a little different. Stars fell from the sky and gathered around him, forming a pool of shifting lights. From that pool came small wisps of fire that flitted around. He offered a hand to one flame and it grew brighter with his touch, but it didn't burn him. It was cold and...lonely.

He never thought that a fire could feel, but there it was. The lonely flame swirled around his hand, then rejoined the fallen stars. Silver watched the lights dance across the land, then looked to the moon that hung in a now-empty sky.

When he reached out to the moon, it wept at the loss of its stars.

Out of curiosity does Little Silver power act weird when he’s sick? Like in someone anime’s the character’s power goes all wonky.

A little.

Mostly, his room tends to rearrange itself (not that he notices), and things start flocking to the house.

For the most part, Little Silver's home is the one place where spirits won't appear (the current theory being that he managed to put a ward around the home). When he's unwell, any defenses he has are dropped and his room becomes a magnet.

Amalia has taken to inviting Terry over any time Silver gets sick just to make sure things don't get too weird.

If lil silver can handle ghost possessions, what about stuff like hypnosis? (Not counting Jamil’s snake whisper/charmer in book 4)

One might think that his ability to be possessed would also mean he's easily hypnotized, but it's actually the opposite.

This is something I've been thinking about when considering how he'd change the main story. In short: Jamil's magic looks like very pretty mood lighting when attempting to use his spell. Rather than being manipulated, Little Silver agreed because he's a nice boy who was kind of bored during the vacation.

My silly little guy has a pretty strange constitution and it's been very difficult to figure out the rules of his abilities. His lack of awareness hasn't made things any easier.

Possession of his body: yes, easy-peasy. Go forth and conquer his physical form, ghosties. The world is your oyster, so long as you don't mind having weak noodle limbs and the intimidation factor of a kitten. Manipulation of his mind or actions: nope. No chance. Attempts to influence him bounce off without a care in the world, and he doesn't even know they've been made.

The difference in these behaviors has caused his friends no end of grief and raised a fair number of questions.

Possession of his body results in the suppression of his consciousness. Does that count as manipulation? Not according to the rules that govern mind control...probably.

Does intent or source matter? His school back home isn't exactly rich with hypnotists, so they don't have many people to test with. All they know is that malicious entities have possessed him and that one guy with mild mind control meant no harm when trying to make him buy everyone drinks.

Is it a matter of relative strength? He's been possessed by some pretty flimsy spirits, so that's probably not the case.

Terry and Philip have come up with some unsubstantiated theories. Philip's idea is that possession is a result of his empathy combined with a sensitivity to death, both of which are unusually high. This results in a very particular vulnerability in his otherwise airtight psychic shielding.

Terry's theory is that he is allowing spirits to possess him, albeit unconsciously. For whatever reason, he is actively lowering his defenses in the presence of spirits in order to, perhaps, help them resolve whatever problems they have.

Of course, nobody really understands his powers enough to back these ideas up. The boys will keep throwing thoughts at the wall until something makes sense.

I think it would be funny if Ghost Ortho also wants to study as a student as it is something he couldn't do while in the Underworld, so sometimes there will just be a Phantom in classes freaking everyone else out.

Unfortunately for Phantom Ortho, he can't stay away from Tartarus for long. His visits are more like weekend vacations. Besides, he's pretty big, so nobody else would be able to see anything in class.

So, instead, he just hangs out in Idia's room during class times and "pretends" to go through poor Big Bro's private files.

If he's managed to find any of Idia's dirty secrets, he hasn't said.
