thank you to everyone who voted! i’ll definitely think on this some more.
maintenance note: i think what i might do to start here is to go back through my archives and queue older posts to reblog for those who might have missed them - this blog is over 5 years old, after all! (jeez........that feels like such a long time). moving forward, i plan to stick to posting wildlife and scenery rather than assets, since there are multiple blogs who are capable of pulling high-quality assets from game files and my screenshots feel redundant and inferior compared to those. the secondary purpose of this blog is meant to be a reference archive, and therefore i'd be focusing on providing references for things that aren't as readily available (character and weapon models can be found in abundance, but not for animals/plants/props)
additionally, i'm lowkey thinking about changing the name of the blog to Teyvat Geographic, which i think would better suit the more visual format i plan to go for. what do you guys think?

i hesitate to say "i'm back" because time constraints are still an issue BUT i do really want to get back into this blog. the spirit is willing, but the body is doomed to menial labor and subsequent lack of energy :/
for those who are interested, personal anecdotes (rambling) under the cut:
for the past 4 years i've dedicated my entire life to my job as a real-life naturalist and wildlife educator, my greatest passion that i truly feel is my calling and purpose in life. however, i was recently fired because i was missing work due to chronic illness (in many places in the US, that's illegal, but my state has a law that basically allows employers to fire anyone without needing a reason at all), and subsequently became deeply. DEEPLY depressed. i think that this blog might be a good way to kind of scratch the itch that i feel for that kind of work in between the volunteer work i've been doing.
tbh a huge part of the reason i fell off the bandwagon was because i missed Wriothesley's first banner and it was SO LONG waiting for him to come back i got really sad and didn't feel like playing the game >.> the thing that made me lose interest pretty considerably, though, is the way the game progresses. while it makes sense story-wise, since we are playing as The Traveler after all, and particularly given that it's a gacha so they want to keep adding new characters to make money on, the characters always feel very "one and done". 5-stars show up in the story, you fall in love with them, and then the story moves on and they really only come back in, frankly, cameos during regional festivals. as much as i enjoy those festivals, i wish we got to spend more time with 5-stars since they don't get hangout events. i really miss my faves from Mondstadt, Liyue, Inazuma, and Sumeru.
all that to say i've picked at the game here and there, but i'm quite behind now. i do have TONS of photos and videos from Natlan, though, that are waiting to be edited - i actually had to buy an external drive for all my Genshin wildlife screenshots/video because the file got too big for my laptop 😅 i LOVE curating, i love the little game of pretend i have going here, compiling this compendium as if i were actually a naturalist in Teyvat.
if you're still around for this blog, and especially if you've read all this, i truly thank you with my whole heart. i hope i can continue to inspire with this blog - inspire you, my followers, and be inspired myself in turn.

Hi I was wondering if you would be okay with someone else doing something similar to this account, like posting genshin visuals in a sort of archive format? I really love the idea and want to do something similar since it seems this account is pretty inactive recently. I thought I should ask first before doing so though so I don’t seem like I’m blatantly, otherwise thank you for taking the time to read this !
Hi! i'm really glad you enjoy my blog and even moreso that you're inspired by it!! i keep meaning to come back every now and then but it's difficult to find the time to make gifs and curate photosets these days :/ but i do enjoy doing it and i would really like to pick it up again! i fell off the bandwagon for a long time but since Ororon was added i've been playing again because i love him so much ;w;
thank you so much for asking, that is incredibly thoughtful of you to do so <3 please do, and please link me so i can follow you! i would love to see your vision of Teyvat!

Redbill Pelican: These birds that live in open waters are known for their crimson beaks and beautiful feathers. Pelicans are great at catching fish, and fisherfolk in Qiaoying Village still train these keen-eyed birds to help them catch fish today. Some veterans even claim that a well-trained pelican is better than ten clumsy apprentices. If nothing else, pelicans never scare away nearby fish by falling overboard, do they…

Fluff-Fleece Goat: These gentle beasts can be found all over Teyvat and were among the earliest livestock tamed by humans. Fluff-Fleece Goat, as their name indicates, have soft and warm fur that is used to weave clothing. Humans also love them for their delicious milk. In the distant past, these beasts, often called "Soft-Furs," played an important role in the ceremonial affairs of the region's ancestral people, but that's a story for another time.

Jadestone Turtle: A reptile with a thick shell. Like their counterparts all across Teyvat, they have a gentle nature and move slowly. Maybe they are even too gentle and slow to notice that mountain rocks have begun to accumulate on their shells in Geo-rich areas. Legend has it that in the distant past, the early residents of Chenyu Vale saw a giant turtle that was more majestic than the mountains combined, which they named the Gui. The authenticity of such tales cannot be verified, but the modern Jadestone Turtles can still grow into spectacular giants. Sometimes, however, the Geo accumulated on their shells causes them an unbearable itch. If someone could kindly clean their shells and remove the calcified jade, they would surely be pleased…

Velvetfall Duck: These quacking water birds live in the rivers, lakes, and wetlands of Teyvat. Their brown feathers remind people of autumn leaves, and the warm clothing made from their down is very popular during cold seasons, which is why they were given this name.
