Hint: I’m moving. 📦 About 2 years ago my boyfriend and I decided to do what some people only dream of doing, and that’s to pick up everything and move across the country. In our case it was from New York to Colorado. Prior to coming out here I had quit my job as a textile designer, but I didn’t have a job lined up. BIG MISTAKE. After two years and no luck in the job department we are unfortunately calling it quits on Denver. 📦 I am so sad because I came to love Denver so much. I love our little neighborhood, the coffee shop below our apartment, and the accessibility to everything that we need to get to (ie: grocery stores and pharmacy) When it comes down to it though, I have a degree in design and along with it, a dream. My whole life I dreamed of being a designer and even though I lived that dream 2 years ago, I would like to continue to make it grow. I’m about halfway through and can already tell that this is going to be one of my favorite books in the Anne of Green Gables series. I love all of the new characters we get to meet—especially Captain Jim. I also love how delicious and descriptive L.M. Montgomery’s writing is. That book being: Peter Pan in Kensington Gardens. 🧚🏻‍♂️ THOUGHTS: This book was not at all what I expected. Going into it I thought the narrative was a prequel to Peter Pan but as I read on I discovered that the two stories are completely separate from one another. After doing a little research though, I learned that Peter Pan in Kensington Gardens did serve as an inspiration for the children’s classic we know and love today. Although this was a solid read, there was nothing special about it. “𝙸 𝚖𝚞𝚜𝚝 𝚑𝚊𝚟𝚎 𝚏𝚕𝚘𝚠𝚎𝚛𝚜, 𝚊𝚕𝚠𝚊𝚢𝚜 𝚊𝚗𝚍 𝚊𝚕𝚠𝚊𝚢𝚜." -𝙲𝚕𝚊𝚞𝚍𝚎 𝙼𝚘𝚗𝚎𝚝 🌻 Hello rosebuds!💐 I figured since I’ve had my Bookstagram account for a little over three years, now is as good a time as ever to do a #meetthebookstagrammer post. 🌻 First things first, for those of you who are new to my account, my name is Emilie or Emma for short. I love all things book and garden related hence why my insta name is the garden of readen. I came up with that name one night while laying in bed. It was basically like I had an epiphany of pure genius! 🌻 With all that said though, here are five facts about me! 🌻 1. I grew up just a five minute drive from the beach in the good old garden state. 2. My dad owned a landscaping company and planted a beautiful perennial filled garden all around my childhood home. After he passed away, my mother took over his business which she still owns to this day. I believe my love for nature and gardens started with my parents. 3. I absolutely despised reading when I was younger because I have ADHD. When I tried to pick up a book, the words got all mixed together and I would read a single sentence at least 5 times in a row. Reading is still hard at times but I love it so much now I don’t care. I have my current boyfriend to thank for that. 4. I am former a textile designer with a degree from one of the top 3 fashion schools in the world. 5. Over the last year or so, I’ve lost 50 pounds and am much healthier/happier than I have been in my entire life.
