Upland Sandpiper (Bartramia longicauda), family Scolopacidae, order Charadriiformes
Nests on the northern prairies and tundra of North America.
Overwinters on grassland in South America.
Not usually found on beaches or shoreline, like most other sandpipers.
This is one of my nemesis birds! I've never gotten a great look at this bird, so this is the year I make a concerted effort to finally get one!!!

Cachabi Robber Frog (Pristimantis achatinus), family Strabomantidae, Colombia
This individual is unusually red, for this species, which is usually a shade of brown.
It is unclear as to whether this is normal variation, or if this is a Erythristic individual.

Basilosaurus cetoides by Zdeněk Burian.
Basilosaurus was a massive, prehistoric whale that lived during the Late Eocene epoch, around 40 to 34 million years ago. Despite its name meaning “king lizard,” it was not a reptile—it was a fully aquatic mammal and one of the earliest whales known. This predator could grow up to 15–18 meters (50–60 feet) in length, with an elongated, eel-like body unlike modern whales. It had sharp, conical teeth and a powerful jaw, ideal for hunting fish, sharks, and other marine mammals. Basilosaurus had tiny hind limbs—a leftover from its land-dwelling ancestors—though these legs were useless for walking and likely used only for mating. Fossils have been found in North America, North Africa, and the Middle East, including Egypt’s famous “Valley of the Whales” (Wadi Al-Hitan). As one of the top predators in its ancient ocean ecosystem, Basilosaurus marks a key stage in whale evolution—from land mammals to the giants of the sea.

Genuinely mindblown by the 100-mile Dash scene in The Incredibles. It feels more like a full mini character arc in the span of a few minutes. The emotional stakes are very real; through it all you can't forget that Dash is in fact, just a child.
The direction masterfully depicts Dash's growth. From hesitation to fun, to realising the stakes to genuine terror and we watch him learn and improve, adapting as it goes on.
It's a really cool scene. Way ahead of its time.

at some point in your life you will be boiling fruit, water, sugar, and lemon juice in a pot to make a syrup or jam. the instructions will tell you to simmer for a certain amt of time. your timer will go off and you will look at the pot and go, "hm, this doesn't look thick enough. maybe i'll let it go for another 10 minutes." this is the devil speaking. it's only so liquid right now because it is at boiling point. it will thicken when it cools down. learn from the follies of my youth and do not let this happen to you

It’s so interesting to think about Azula’s closest friends(Mai and Ty Lee) being non-benders. I see it as both insecure and arrogant. We know that the fire nation values bending/ bending prowess, but still sees merit in other fighting methods. (Crown Prince learning swords). So Azula probably sees the merit of having people on the team that have skills that she doesn’t, but also couldn’t possibly outshine her( in her opinion/ skill less culturally valued than hers). But at the same time she is the crown princess and a bending prodigy. Why would they need another fire bender when she( the best) is already there? What could a (same aged) bender do that she can’t.
