Amy and I had dinner at a Sushi place that we walk to from time to time. Amy surprised me tonight with a request of the dish she had the other night at sushi joint. I gave it a whirl and cobbled it together for her. It was pretty tasty. Amy and I had a wonderful anniversary dinner, at “Mama’s on the hill” in the fabled Italian section of St. Louis, called “The Hill“. We started off with antipasto, to which we ordered: Mama's Combo Platter: A sampling of Mama's toasted ravioli, calamari, salsiccia and stuffed mushrooms. I thought it was very tasty. The Calamari was great but not as tender as I’d liked it to be. For my entrée, I had the Coniglio Bolognese: Roasted Coniglio sautéed with red onion and spinach prepared in a veal tomato broth served with pappardelle noodles topped with Parmesan cheese. It was absolutely Delicious!! The pasta was made perfectly, with great texture! The sauce was incredibly flavorful. Really good! Amy had and loved the: Vitello Parmigiana Lightly breaded slices of Vitello sautéed then topped with both provel, Parmesan cheese, and marinara sauce. We finished off with dessert. I had the gelato (tartufo) and Amy had the crème brûlée. Amy had wine with her meal and I had water with my meal and a cocktail before dinner. For the caliber of service, food and value we had there we will absolutely consider it a favorite place to go. Just remember this though, finding parking will drive some nuts. It is what it is!!
