Claws like a hawk

Tw: medical talk, slight body horror

The door of Robert's room opened, he looked up from the small tv in the corner. The cartoons on it were his only form of entertainment during the long days in the lab.

“How are you doing?” Cassidy asked in her sweet voice, the boy looked at her with his big green eyes, he didn't reply.

She crouched beside him and grabbed his hand “No new fingers?” he nodded silently.

“Nothing's going on with your feet too, right?”.

He looked away, she grabbed his face “Eyes seem normal…but why aren't you talking? Come on, what's wrong?”

He stood up, taller than any 15 year old should have been. “I sound weird and it hurts to talk”

Cassidy smiled “No shit, you sound like a full grown man. Seems like compound V made you hit puberty before time, I'll have to note that…anything else you'd like to tell me?”.

“I need to get my hair cut again, they're long,” he blurted. She was confused “Again? We shaved your head two weeks ago…turn around”.

Robert did what he was told “Yeah, they're long…show me your hands again” Cassidy commented, grabbing the boy's hand.

“Your nails are long…too long, they're almost like claws, how odd. I never observed something like this, this is going straight in my notes!”

“What is happening?” Robert asked, worried “You see, the compound V is probably making your body produce a huge amount of keratin, which is odd since your powers don't seem linked to that”.

“Can I go back to watching tv now?” He asked “No, I'm taking you to the common room, it's time you socialize with your peers” Cassidy replied.

“Do I really have to?” He asked, she nodded, “Sitting all day watching cartoons is going to make your central line clog and you don't want that right?” “Why do I have to have one in the first place? It hurts and itches!” The boy whined.

“Because it's easier to give you compound V like this, 4 IVs of it everyday would hurt your veins otherwise”.

He looked down at his chest “it's not going to leave a scar right?” She smiled “It won't, don't worry, now let's go to the common room”

Almost 40 years later Robert looked at himself in the mirror, ready to start his morning as a Vought supe.

He hopped in the shower and after washing with various expensive soaps, he shaved his whole body. He had a full body wax appointment booked for later in the afternoon but it wasn't enough. Then he stepped out of the shower, grabbed a pair of scissors and cut around 4 inches of hair. After, he took a nail file and shortened his nails significantly.

After applying numerous creams and oils, he was ready to get dressed but something bugged him that day, it was the scar on his chest.

It had been covered with a tattoo a long time ago, but it was starting to fade and now he could see it clearly after years.

It was his reminder of the lies he was fed since the start of his life, the experiments that made him become a freak and all the kids he saw die.

But what could he do? He was a nobody, a fancy nobody yes, but a nobody.

NAME: Chelsea Conner

AGE: 18

HERO NAME: none

POWERS: none

BACKSTORY:

Charlotte's little sister, she has a very angry soul and got her and her sister landed in a group home after she smashed a man windscreen by kicking it because he honked at her.

It wasn't her first time doing something like that and she was very sceptical of her father when they went to live under his care. Especially since she always disliked supes and had never met him she tried to set his hair on fire... a few times.

As of now she lives with her sister in a Godolkin uni dorm, while she hasn't got powers she's allowed to stay with her because of her disability and because dad pays the uni.

Her hatred for her dad has mostly vanished, especially after he bought her all of her dream vintage tripp pants and rare garfield plushies that their mother couldn't afford.

NAME: Cole Redfield

AGE: 29

HERO NAME: Slingshot

POWERS: he has perfect aim and can hit anything he wants without any mistakes

BACKSTORY:

He was born in a wealthy family composed by various well established supes.

While the family power was creating protection fields, he developed an underwhelming perfect aim without any side powers.

While his family had big plans for him, starting from his early teenage years he started suffering from mental health issues and an Ed, which prevented him from finishing high school and attending Godolkin uni.

After he got better he started jumping from supe to supe as a sidekick until he got assigned to Robert.

His status as a sidekick is pretty much consolidated now, especially because of his...odd...relationship with Robert.

When Charlotte joined the team he understood very early that she was dangerous without knowing it, she was able to fulfill every order from Robert in a way that Cole couldn't.

If one day Robert will get bored of Cole he'll just have to ask Charlotte to take care of him, he fears.

BACKSTORY:

She's the first born from Robert's marriage.

When she was 3 years old her father gave her compound V, unfortunately there were side effects and she developed various issues.

Because of them, especially her wonky eye, she was bullied through all her school years. But when her sister Chelsea started high school all changed.

Everyone who dared to mock her was shortly after punished by her sister.

While chelsea is powerless having a supe as a dad made her develop slight super strength and also gave her a very angry personality, wich resulted in her committing various small crimes.

They eventually all added up and they both got taken from their mom and placed in a group home.

When their dad found out he got them out of there and under his care.

Charlotte had always had a fascination with being a superhero, especially since she had always had been told to hide her powers. So when she finished training she happily joined her dad and Cole in their team.

But Cole seems...scared of her? She doesn't understand why...

Civilian clothes

NAME: Robert Conner

AGE: 56 (real) 31 (for the public)

HERO NAME: The commander

POWERS: he can manipulate any kind of metal telepathically and sense the presence of metal near him,

Enhanced strength,

Enhanced agility,

Partial tissue regeneration.

He has major issues with precision, struggles with small actions with metal and usually fails in not destroying small objects when manipulating them,

His powers do NOT rely on magnetism ,

He needs to clearly see or feel a metal body to manipulate it

BACKSTORY:

He was born premature, his parents agreed for Vought to save him by giving him compound V. In exchange they let him be shipped off to a lab where, from age 14 to 18 he got tested on to perfect the formula of compound V.

When he reached 18 years old only him and another boy had survived, his name was Lucas. He had the power to make people to hallucinate, but because of his pacifist morals he refused to use his powers and because of that he had become a problem for the lab.

One day with the promise of becoming a superhero as great as soldier boy he got presented with a test to pass: killing another supe.

Later that night they threw Lucas and Robert in a nearby forest, Lucas didn't come out alive. He could have easily won over Robert but he still refused to use his powers.

He spent around 20 years in a B class team called "American darlings" under the name Metallo, there he was considered the laughing stock of the group and after years of not seeing his efforts appreciated he left the supe career for good.

Over the years he settled down as a civilian, got married and had a daughter.

But when his daughter was only 3 years old and his wife was expecting another child, his urge to not let his powers go to waste got the best and he injected her with stolen compound V.

Unfortunately it didn't go well, she became visually impaired in one eye, developed a heart murmur and cognitive problems, he was forced to flee in the night.

Vought hired him back, at first as a personal assistant for various supes and finally they decided to create him a brand new identity and market him as a brand new supe.

He got paired with Cole, superhero name Slingshot. His only power is perfect aim, making him an eternal sidekick at almost 30 years old.
