Okay, here's my humble yearly Artfight advice, because with every AF, there's always a bit of an ongoing cycle:

While you can't ever guarantee revenges, your chances of getting art back are always higher if you target people with positive ratios. There's a lot of people on site who have +75% attack ratios (meaning they've drawn way more art than they have received). Go target them! They deserve love AND are way more likely to return art!

DO NOT fall for random celeb tiktokker with 50k followers who is, for the seventh year in a row, promising they will be revenging all the art they get all while their ratio sits at a whooping 5%! There's always some people like this and a lot of younger folk fall for it again and again. And then these people don't even bother with commenting on the art they receive

In my experience, it's younger folk or people who are newer to art that will go more apeshit (affectionate) about the art they receive. If you really wanna make someone's entire week, find yourself someone who is new to AF or someone who has just started drawing and give them a lil something, they will adore it!

Artfight can be a great opportunity to make friends. I've met some wonderful people through exchanging art there. Use the search function to find characters tagged as things you have an interest in and go ham. Chances are, you may meet someone with similar interests who may end up becoming a long term friend.

While receiving revenges is great, don't try to guilt trip people for them. Don't go around posting comments on people's profiles like "If I draw for you will you revenge me??" Just draw for the person if you'd like to draw for them, don't do it expecting the whole situation to be a transaction

A lot of people will mention in their profiles whether they are revenging or not. It's a good idea to check that out if you are interested in revenges- But never take these as a 100% guarantee

Comment on art you have received! It doesn't need to be a deep comment. Sometimes gushing over it and dropping 30 emojis and a big thank you gets the point across. It can be rather daunting to not receive any confirmation that the person you drew for even saw the art you made for them.

And honestly, just be honest with yourself and how much art you can make without burning out or hurting yourself. Make your stretches, rest your hand, and try to have fun without sacrificing your health on the way!

Pokemon AU Project - Michael "Aiden" Russo

Aiden, going by his middle name rather than his first, started his Pokemon journey with a partner Deino as he collected a team of Pokemon that he felt a connection with. Aiden doesn't seek to achieve anything in particular and travels the world enjoying the company of his friends and team.

Additional Fun Note: Salazzle more so decided to join his team and follow them around more than the other way around.

Hey there, I've been in a bit of an inspiration slump for the story characters, but I HAVE been really into Pokemon lately, so I thought a fun project would be to draw the main cast with Pokemon Teams that best symbolically represent their personality and their individual stories.

Special Unit Commander Shen Eulford

Shen Eulford, only child and son of the Prime Commander Damien Eulford, serves in the Beast Corps as the Commander of the Special Unit. Well known for his prowess and skill developed from a combination of natural talent and his early start in the military as well as his signature two white wolves, Shen has gained the nickname "The Great White Wolf" as a long standing national hero. Managing and leading some of the strongest and most capable soldiers in the Beast Corps, Shen and his subordinates have paved the path for Stuggaria's security and overall expansion in the face of numerous deadly threats.

Unit 13 Commander Alexander Von Bannister

Alexander Von Bannister, heir to House Von Bannister and son of the High Commander and co-founder of Stuttgaria Frederick Von Bannister, holds the Commanding seat within the Beast Corp's famous versatile Unit 13. Having served in several crucial combat tours and having served in the beast corps since he turned thirteen, Alexander Von Bannister has a decorated history and is a well renowned war hero. Most interestingly, Alexander Von Bannister is well known for his unique ability to handle protoweapons, allowing him to effectively own and use three otherwise particular protoweapons in battle with ease.

A Discussion on Shounen Anime

(Do note, this story is written by two people with equal contribution; this discussion and thought line is solely reflective of Dumb Pigeon's opinion alone and not the entirety of The Deva Affliction and the collaborative writing process)

So for those that follow my "main" (its technically a side blog but the one I use the most) blog @/system-of-a-feather, I've (Dumb Pigeon) been recently dragging myself to watch Bleach TYBW as a self care goal and I will admit, having started anime in the shounen genre and moved on from it, the past few years I've been a bit internally pretentious about it due to the nature of it tending to have relatively redundant stories and the largest draw being the power scaling and cool combat which hasn't been something that interested me too much

But as it goes to show, my writing and development of this world has been a lot less engaged in combat than it used to be and my general creative spirit for writing combat has been in an "art block" for years and I think I would like to credit my honest to god pretentious way of looking at my "hometown" genre and how much I dismissed the "largest draw being the power scaling and cool combat" as "not interesting or valuable"

Cause I'm watching it again and really realizing that sure, shounen can sometimes lack in story and lore compared to genres more dedicated to it, but shounen anime are genuinely specialists and they are VERY good at what they want to be good at. You don't watch a Shounen for the deep mystery and mind boggling plot twists. You don't watch a slice of life (usually, I know there are some wild ones) for the combat.

And honestly, watching it has really reminded me that more than anything in Bleach, the thing I loved the most was the way that they manifested lore and history into the abilities of the characters and the mechanics that underlie it and *thats* what makes Bleach a fucking amazing show to watch. The story is mid, the characters I think are amazing but compared to genres that are character-journey centric they are "just fun", but the world in SPECIFIC regard to the combat system, abilities, etc is fun, exciting, and enjoyable to just watch and think about.

Yes the plot serves just to set up fights and that tends to make for a kind of dull plot. However that is a sacrifice for the fact that the fights are WHAT YOU ARE HERE FOR

And while I have no intent of turning the story into a "shounen" nor do I intend to make combat the thing people come to the story for, I think there is a huge disservice that I've been doing to my creative work and world building by dismissing the genre and "being good at writing interesting combat" as something not-worth my time.

Coming from an age old family bred to produce soldiers, Camargue earned the nickname 'The Carnage', playing a joke on his name while nonetheless drawing attention to his sheer strength and destructive force.

Hello! We're a blog dedicated to the development of what will be a comic and custom TTRPG system.

We share art (OCs, monster design) and story tid bits on here.

This blog is technically ran by two people: me (Dumb Pigeon; DP) and my writing partner / co-author (Nerdy Tarantula; NT) but he doesn't really do tumblr, so its mostly me posting.

For notes, we are both queer and disabled and this story has been a passion project and world we've been building for 12+ years.

We're hoping to slowly build a following so that when we get around to posting the comic we have something of a foundation ^^

The Red-headed Horseman

The Red-headed Horseman was a menacing beast that terrorized Stuttgart in 2005-2006 as the second in command to the Erlkonig. His name was given to him based o his first sighting as he was seen riding horseback with this saturated long ginger hair. This beast was a seasoned shapeshifter. Thankfully, the Red-headed Horseman was killed by the Prime Commander, making this beast purely a historical threat

The Blue Dragon of the East

Reports state that this draconoid beast was found once flying overhead in the [redacted]. Little is known about the nature of this beast other than it's massive size and ability to level areas with it's frosty breath. During the encounter, the beast fled and was unable to be found. With this in mind, the Beast Corps have come to the assumption that this beast is likely an A class with some level of shapeshifting capabilities. In the case that this beast returns to confront the Stuttgarian society, the Beast Corps have begun making active plans to appropriate counter this threat. Any further sightings of this beast should be reported immediately and independent confrontation is deeply discouraged.
