I’m not ready for our love to be forgotten,

Eternally unspoken, the memory now foreign.

Although your name is never formed by my lips,

Unfamiliar as the taste of your kiss,

My pen knows all about the blue of your eyes,

Your smile, and the heat of your hand holding mine.

Look, I know we weren’t made to survive summer -

We are frozen lakes, windy days and snowflakes,

All bare trees and frosty breeze, delicate mistakes.

I know, when we cross paths, I stare at the floor,

You pretend not to see me, try to ignore.

Promises of ‘still friends’ slipped through our fingers,

Like ice, they shatter, but the cold still lingers.

When I see you affection overcomes me,

Emotion, tenderness, overpowering.

Can we hold on to this pretence one more night?

Could I hold you in my arms for one last time?

We’ll return to the ashes that we came from,

An ocean apart, and a state of nothing.

Not yet, though - can we smile and embrace once more?

Try, although I’m not sure such a thing exists,

To have an adequate goodbye.

Day one of SDCC is over! We survived, the cosplayers thrived, and now we’re giving you the goods.

We met the true monarch of beef, found Harley Quinn looking a little different (drop the skincare routine!), saw Keanu Reeves bravely choose to get on another bus despite his last harrowing interaction with one in the very real documentary, Speed, and wondered…if a flock of crows is called a murder then what’s a gathering of Marges called?

San Diego Comic-Con offers more than cosplay, of course! It would be a mistake to miss Artists’ Alley, and an even bigger mistake to miss artist Joel Gomez (@j0elg). (i think the classes were: pathology, gross anatomy, and pharmacology respectively. and for those who don’t know i used to be in dentistry lmao rn im an english major)
