Tales of the Seasons on Hickory Road

Oh a long ways down on Hickory Road

Lived a bird couple and a toad

Not quite thirty, growing old

The blue jays of the block

In the fall you hear them, on a walk

Gossiping, talking… their own little flock

Winter is coming, the little toad goes digging

The cold is ruthless, clock is ticking

For little toad to hide from winters sharp kicking

The frost of winter now seems to thaw

The first to notice that little flaw?

Well it seems, the robin couple with a worm in their claw

A hum sounds about from the growing couple

Excited they seem, wings beating a chuckle

While the sun beams down on the toad in a puddle

That long ways down on Hickory Road

Lived a family growing up, nice and old
