In the Fanfiction World:
I have become so deeply obsessed with Lionheart by GreenTeaCups. It is amazing. I generally do not touch WIPs. But this is written so amazingly. I can’t even believe it.

one annoying part about finishing the first book from a series is that you can't even search up fanart because you'll very likely see spoilers about the other books in that series

2024 - Book 14
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Stats:
Date Read: March 7, 2024
Kindle - 354
Time Read: I forgot to keep track….
Compelled to Finish? Yes, kinda. It wasn’t gripping in the sense I couldn’t put it down.
Feedback:
GREAT story! I’d had Covid in Feb which really put me out of the count reading-wise, and I’d found it hard to pick a book back up, for whatever reason. Saw this advertised, read it on KU and was genuinely surprised at its depth, writing, character development, and plot.
For a romance novel, which this story firmly is, I enjoyed the main characters, but also the supporting cast. Never have I felt compelled to read the other stories in a series about the other people from a romance novel. BUT she’s written them so I started on the next one.
Overall, loved it. Maybe it should be a 5, but meh. I’m settling for a 4.
Favorite Quotes:
Well. As a first, I forgot to take note of any quotes. This book was like a warm hug and I enjoyed everything that was written. GO. READ. IT.

Oh my god. The next book isn’t out yet.
A Soul of Ash and Blood
2024 - Book 13
⭐️⭐️⭐️
Stats:
Dates Read: Valentines Day 2024
Kindle - 634
Time Read: Like noon - 11
Compelled to Finish: Meh. It was an easy read.
Feedback:
To be clear, this isn’t a bad book. I just feel that having Cas’ perspective added no narrative value to the series. Don’t get me wrong. I loved seeing things from his pov. But so much of this book was reused dialogue.
The parts that were new to us were very well written as always. The ending is so enticing. I’m about to purchase the next one. I can’t see why specifically JA chose to end the storytelling there when he declares marriage.
I am very interested to read the next.
Favorite Quotes:
Fucking Nektas, the eldest and inarguably most dangerous of the draken, was starting to piss me off.
“I’m glad to be alive. Tell her she has my everlasting devotion and utter, complete adoration when she wakes.”
“You’re an absolutely stunning murderous little creature.”

The War of Two Queens
2024 - Book 12
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Stats:
Date Read: Sometime in January and then Feb 14
Kindle - 628
Time Read: Well you see, I rage quit in the middle so I lost track.
Compelled to finish? Yes. Then no. Then yes, again.
Feedback:
Another amazing book by JA. Truly a weaver of stories that tie together so masterfully and that I could not begin to predict.
This novel was a perfect balance of action and romance and humor and drama. Poppy’s power grows and my love for her grows. She’s my queen too now.
The dynamic between Cas, Poppy, and Kieran. What can I say? Sometimes depicted relationships like this are unbelievable. This feels so true and real to what would happen in that story.
Favorite Quotes:
You’re the one who taught me that I cannot save everyone. But I can save those I love.
What you have become - what you have brought upon the realms - will not save you.
You brought them back. All of them.

Bride
2024 - Book 11
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Stats:
Date Read: Feb 13, 2024
Kindle - 416 pages
Read Time: 6 hours.
Compelled to finish? Yes. I have COVID and needed a good love story.
Feedback:
I’m torn between giving this book 3 stars or 5 stars so I settled on 4, even though that doesn’t feel right. Three because I would have loved more depth to it, 5 because as a romantic comedy with knotting it did damn good.
Authors - they’re just like us! This is my first Ali Hazelwood book and I’m just gonna say, about to buy her others. Her wit and charm and dialogue is awesome.
I found all of the history between the three races to be wonderfully rich. I would definitely love to read about the couple at the end. What I think I loved most was how if Ali had written a book just on Misery or Selena or Owen or any of them, it would have been wonderful.
Favorite Quotes:
“Your cat is welcome among us” “I wonder how that feels”
Please, please don’t let me die until I turn twenty-five or I get to visit the Spy Museum, whatever comes first.
In the author notes: “I would not like to thank Ticketmaster.”

Spotless
2024 - Book 10
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Stats:
Date Read: 1/30/24
Kindle - 334 pages
Time Read: 7-11 pm
Compelled to finish? Yes.
Feedback:
After the serious writing of Sarah Maas and Jennifer Armentrout, I really wanted to read something that wasn’t going to riddle me with anxiety (in the best way possible). This popped up as an ad and it was on Kindle Unlimited - hooray!
I love this book. It would be 5 stars, but I have a feeling I’m just sulking. I’m a sucker for perfect happily ever afters, which this wasn’t. To be clear, this had a great and appropriate ending. I can recognize it. And I know in my heart this was the way it should have ended.
This book’s sense of humor is so up my alley. Island as an unreliable narrator gives me life. And as a fan of the absurd. She was perfect. Reminded me similarly of the tone of Assistant to the Villan, an all time favorite.
Favorite Quotes:
Good evening, Miss Chaptal. Please make yourself comfortable while I finish this.
I’m making small talk with a hit man.
I want a date.

The Crown of Gilded Bones
2024 - Book 9
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Stats:
Date Read: 1/28
Kindle - 574
Time Read: 2am - 5am; 3 pm to midnight.
Compelled to Finish? Oh man yes.
Feedback:
My first 5 star of the year! I really enjoyed this book. All of the lore, and twists, and character dynamics were truly incredible. It’s now midnight and I’ll be purchasing book 4 to read until I pass out.
The development and growth seen in Poppy’s character is magnificent. Her path and confidence and understanding of who she is is such a rewarding part of this book.
My favorite scene was with Eloana. 10/10 and felt so real. Jennifer Armentrout has a way with dialogue that just absolutely feels like a genuine conversation. So so good.
Favorite Quotes:
I can imagine that your need for freedom and to have control over your life is as great as the need many have for retribution. But I honestly do not care.
Ask me whose blood stains my clothing.
Tell the Blood Queen to prepare for war.
