someone please explain to me why my math teacher, who has taught us next to nothing the whole year, gave us a lecture today about doing your work and staying on top of assignments

so pretty much the whole class hasn't been doing much work lately, but that's mainly because our teacher hasn't taught us anything throughout the whole year. a typical week usually goes: one or two days of a small lesson on some math that none of us can understand, and the rest is just days where we do LITERALLY nothing. just sit around. not to mention how i'm pretty sure not even the teacher knows what she's supposed to be teaching, because one day she gave us a physics and a chemistry problem to work on, for some reason. and she keeps recycling the state test for quizzes and homework assignments, which is grade 11 math. we're seniors (though to be fair, damn near the whole grade is mathematically stunted - we've had a pretty shitty crop of math teachers). and on top of that, i've heard that apparently she uses chatgpt to make lessons, whenever we actually have them. i wouldn't be surprised if that were the case, honestly.

and what really sucks that that she's nice and all, but utterly incompetent at her job. i mean, that lecture she gave us today? half of it was just talking about her time in college and her son's time in high school. it was meant as some sort of cautionary tale, but i literally don't care! it came off as so hypocritical because this is literally her own doing. like, maybe actually teach us and none of us would be worrying about this. but then again, i'm seriously doubting if she has any actual teaching credentials at this point.

and what REALLY grinds my gears is how all of this could have been really easily avoided. the first quarter of the year, we were actually a full class, and our current teacher was actually a teacher's assistant to another teacher. he was actually good at his job, and i was actually learning stuff. but then the school had the great idea to split the class in half: one half with the teacher, the other with the TA. the real funny part is how apparently the "smart" kids got put with the TA and the "dumber" kids got put with the other teacher. and look how that turned out, half the class is now mathematically regressed beyond belief. luckily i don't plan on going into stem, but damn i got dealt a real shitty hand either way. anyway, that's my rant for today, stick around for more yaps and rants if you want
