Once upon a Time we bought two lobsters and tried putting them in a rich, silly coconut gravy. 'Chingri r malaikari', a popular Bengali recipe calls for tiger prawns (largest you can find) and usually tastes like magic. The lobsters, which btw are more expensive than prawns, didn't quiet do the justice. Turns out, food doesn't care how much money you have spent on it. #beets and #kale... For Monday nights. #superfoods can lift me up when I am feeling low. #healthyeating #dinner #fitnessfreaks #sogood #easyrecipes Wash, peel and cut the beets. Add salt pepper and olive oil and throw them in the oven at 400°F until just fork tender. In a hot pan, add a little olive oil and put the beets in. Saute for 5 mins then put the Kale in. The Four Bean Salad : A summer time recipe . You will need: Four kinds of beans. I used chick peas, red kidney beans, white beans and green beans. Both canned or dried variety can be used. Make sure to boil the beans if you are using dried (fresh in case if the green beans) prior to making the salad. . For the dressing: 1/4 cup white vinegar, 2tbsp palm/cane/brown sugar (you may substitute with white sugar but it won't taste as good), salt to taste, freshly ground black pepper and a tsp of red chilli powder (or cayenne pepper powder, or chopped green chillies, or chilli flakes) . To make this: mix all ingredients for the dressing in a small bowl. In a large mixing bowl, add all the beans and add the dressing mixture. Mix well. Serve chilled. . Chettinad Prawns in Pepper . You will need: Prawns (shrimps 🦐), small red onion chopped, ginger garlic paste, whole spices for tempering (cardamom, cinnamon and cloves), spices for the spice blend, chillies/chilli powder, few curry leaves, oil for cooking. . Cook time: 15 mins . How to swing this: In a heated steel or cast iron pan add 1 tbsp whole coriander seeds (cilantro seeds), 1 tbsp cumin seeds, 2tbsp whole peppercorn. Stir until you smell the spices. Cool the spices and grind them into a coarse powder. . In a separate pan, heat oil and add the whole spices for tempering. Add the onion and ginger garlic paste. Fry until everything is brown. Now lower the flame and add the Prawns. Once the Prawns are cooked, add the spice blend, chilli and curry leaves. Cook for a minute and serve. . This aromatic, spicy dish is best suited for lovers of Indian food.
