Like the squid game story I need to do more work on that I'm writing entirely to info dump about tarantulas because I know no one else will look at the Front man and say "Yeah, he could use at least five spiders."

And yeah no, I don't think any of the spiders I gave him can be found in Korea but you know

They're in my collection, and I love them and it's a great way to also write the fearful, questioning fascination everyone has when I get to talk about them.

I keep wanting to look most into posting more often and very often it takes a while to even come up with ideas

So I'm going to make a small series including some select Squid Game characters who I enjoy as well as two of my personal characters

Fav headcanon for Dae-Ho?

Honestly, entirely off of the walls, but my personal favorite headcanon for Dae-ho is that he consumes a relatively unnecessary amount of kimchi.

I'm talking kimchi only for lunch, occasionally for dinner, and definitely a large part of breakfast.

What if Inho was really imprisoned? After playing 2015, he got an offer to become the next Frontman. however, after a year he rebelled and was replaced by the Officer, becoming a slave on the island himself

He knew too much.

Inho was dedicated to the staff to please in a variety of ways

Blood. Sex. Cut, beaten, abused. Starved.

Junho does not meet the leader during the infiltration. However, he had heard rumors about a Puppy for "relaxation."

He watched Gihun play cheering him on, and when Gihun returned a second time and sparked a mutiny, he killed the Officer (the new frontman), took his outfit, and fled, joining Gihun's rebellion.

Gihun doesn't believe Inho isn't the Leader, but Inho shoots the pink soldiers. Under the sleeves of the suit you can see bloody traces from handcuffs.

Metal collar.

Junho arrives on the island and helps with the evacuation, assuring Gihun that Inho is not the Frontman.

They find out that Inho was the VIPs' pet.

Conversely, In-ho takes one look at him with this decision, immediately is like "I have a brother who's single." And proceeds to try and pair up Jun-ho and Dae-ho.

I need to write something where, after the game, Gi-hun and In-ho adopted Dae-ho together. Or else I'll combust and die.

Look at him

The rough idea I have is that Gi-hun finds himself unable to kill Dae-ho in Hide and Seek, after seeing how terrified the kid is. So he just sits there with Dae-ho instead and asks how Dae-ho knows to hide behind the door. So Dae-ho tells Gi-hun he used to hide like this from his abusive dad whenever the old man was drunk or pissed about something and wanted to take his anger out on Dae-ho.

Fast forward, after the game’s dismantled, Gi-hun ends up taking Dae-ho under his wing (aka adopting the kid), and of course In-ho’s there too.

Cue, Dae-ho now has two new dads. One of them may be a murderer who orchestrated the death games, sure, but at least they both fucking love him and they won’t let anybody hurt him again.

I'll be honest I've been thinking a LOT about an AU where Young-il and The Front Man are fully distinct identities created in In-ho’s brain from dissociative identity disorder (courtesy of EXTREME trauma).

In-ho plans to reenter the games as Player 001.

He wakes up three days later back in the Front Man suite with NO memory of being in the Games with Gi-hun - and yet, on the tapes, on the cameras, there he is. There he was.

He watches himself interact with Gi-hun in ways that both feel like his own actions and don't. Things he doesn't remember doing. The staring. The shy approaches. The obvious curiosity, the barely veiled, flushed obsession.

And as In-ho watches, head in his hands, in CRISIS, he feels something, hears something, fidgeting and bubbling away in the back of his brain... something, someONE that doesn't want him to know what happened in those games. (Bonus: THINGS HAPPENED between Young-il and Gi-hun 😏)

And gradually, In-ho begins to realize something horrifying: he is not the only person inside his own body.

And Oh Young-il, passionately devoted to and in love with Gi-hun (which he got wholecloth from In-ho, In-ho just doesn't consciously realize and Young-il is the part of him that KNOWS and embraces it)...

Young-il has plans of his own. And they don't involve Gi-hun dying.

Cue In-ho having to fight Young-il on every little thing -

Which cues Number 3 to split off. The Front Man. A personality keenly aware of The System's vulnerability and responsibilities to the VIPs. The place they play in the larger machine of The Games.

The thing is, none of the three ACTUALLY want Gi-hun dead... and all three of them are devoted to him, somehow, in some way.

Suffice to say, S3 goes differently.

The Tarantula Games

This is my long hemmed and hawed over work of Hwang In-ho caring for five tarantulas. All tarantulas in this work including names and personalities are members of my own collection, there will also be a little snippet of information at the head of the chapters talking about how the tarantula hobby can help people, especially two middle aged traumatized men.

Also it's a post canon Gi-hun managed to live and that's the meat of what's covered in this chapter. The rest of the work will be In-ho being autistic about his pets.

I love having favorite characters

In some cases, I can write the cheesiest line ever because it fits them so well and just laugh for twenty-four hours about writing it (The line? "do I need to issue you a warrant to enter my loins?")

But also just simultaneously rub my hands together like a dirty goblin, laughing to myself while saying "AHHHHH yesssss ..... He went through hell twice too. He was also incredibly broken just like the other one.... he had lost everyone to make him feel human. He doesn't even know who he is anymore."

Here is an In-ho headcanon I do not get to employ enough because all of my writing is co-operative (roleplaying) and while I do post I just don't always get to work with some things.

I am a converted spider lover, I used to be very afraid of them but after writing for Spider-man I ended up down a path that led to my current collection of 46 individual animals.

This doesn't get in front of In-ho having large breed dogs because you definitely still need something to cuddle but after the games, In-ho going out and picking up a Brachypelma smithi to raise up, it's an animal that doesn't need much care, water once a week, food once a week to every couple of months

He finds himself entranced by it, the smooth locomotion of it's movements, the gentleness of which it makes its way around its enclosure. He would stop to stare and suddenly it's been over an hour, his dog is at his side giving him puppy eyes and he has a full page of sketches with at least five missed calls from Jun-ho worried about his brother.

Korea has a lot less available in the tarantula pet trade than the United States and I can't find a clear answer of what he could even get a hold of but I'm thinking he may have five spiders set up in lush enclosures.
