Hey Jess!!! Thank you for writing my ask💕I love it. It broke me, how could he casually come up to her after destroying four years of their relationship and he didn't even feel an ounce of guilt for doing it. All men have is fucking audacity I swear. Poor y/n, I feel so bad for her😭

Love, Aeyra
Awwww thank you Aeyra (lovely name btw). And honestly, the audacity of this man, the balls, confidence and stupidity combined. Glad you enjoyed it tho love!

Hey Jess!!! Can you do a 10 or 20 for your ask game??

Oh me oh my, I saw 20 and my heart shattered in angst-y glory. Lord save us all. Please enjoy!

“Y/N?”
How could your own name instill so much panic and sorrow in the depths of your soul?
In front of you now stood Kageyama Tobio, the man who tore out your heart two years ago, leaving you to bleed out with no medic in sight. You’d watched so long ago as he casually burnt down the home you’d built together. He’d left you with nothing. You were empty. And now he finds you again, after you’d spent so long finding the pieces of yourself in the rubble, holding them so dearly and using them to fill in your heart.
In his eyes, you see he’s already forgotten it, or maybe he thinks it wasn’t a big deal. It probably wasn’t to him.
After him, you’d become a master in the arts of pretending you were okay.
That’s how you manage this little beauty without a falter:
“Kageyama!” You smile widely and open your arms for a hug, as if his body touching yours doesn’t make your skin burn, “it’s been way too long, we should have a catch up sometime.”
And he smiles, completely unaware of what’s happening inside of you.
Of course, he agrees to have that catch up, even says he’s not busy right now if you’re free. You agree, only after pretending to call a friend to reschedule because “my life has just gotten so busy”.
But that was a lie.
If anything, you left the house once every two weeks and took enough photos to last a lifetime.
You’d put on an outfit even if you were staying home and come up with a catchy enough caption just to post on Instagram, even if the chance he actually sees it is slim.
You were a shell of your former self. Less alive inside, more accepting of the dark things being sent your way.
Your friends knew it.
And for a second, you wondered whether he knew it, too.
While Kageyama seems to be able to forget the past, you haven’t. It’s burnt a hole in your memory and chained itself there. Threatening to never leave despite constant begging on your end.
You’d been dating since high school, your second year. You’d think being with someone for 4 years would be enough to settle in your future together, but no. With all the stress of his work, and yours, your futures colliding all at once. You really shouldn’t have been shocked when you came home from work to find him with another woman.
Normally, you would have been an uncontrollable fire of rage, ready to attack and destroy because she ruined your life. But seeing that just broke you.
There was nothing left inside you that was actually you.
A shell, through and through.
He’d always known how to hurt you the best, even if he didn’t really know what he was doing in terms of a relationship. You’d figured it out together and then he’d used those newfound skills to destroy you. You’d call him an evil mastermind if you didn’t actually know what he was like.
And now here he stands, pretending like history hasn’t happened. Like he wasn’t the one to ruin you. Like you were nothing.
“So, how have you been?” He asks, casually.
“Super busy, you know, like my life is just-”
He stops you, “I meant since two years ago. I know things ended kinda quickly, and you know, but I hope you’ve at least had it good.”
And your breath catches in your throat, your mask starts to slip and fall. Just for a second, he can see the pain that shatters your soul with every waking moment.
Still, you move on. He hasn’t deserved your feelings. You know that now.
“You know, I didn’t miss you as much as I thought I would.”
And you watch a little piece of him crack inside his eyes.
You’ll go home later tonight and scream at your own reflection for letting him see a moment of your soul. Because you’ve grown and changed, everything is different. You are different. But deep down you aren’t, you’d always wanted answers, you needed them to understand what happened then. You felt like you were back in high school, falling in love with the idea of falling in love. With none of the answers to your questions.
But he’d never answer them either.

Pas De Deux | Suna Rintarou/Reader
Characters: Reader, Miya Atsumu, Suna Rintarou, Miya Osamu (mentioned)
Pairings: Reader/Miya Atsumu and Reader/Suna Rintarou
Warnings: arguing, one sided pining, defo OOC but who am I to care. If there’s any other let me know!
Word Count: 1893
Summary: NGL idk how to summary this. Atsumu took your little relationship for granted, that much you knew, what you didn’t know was that you desired a greater dance, a graceful one. You didn’t know that until you met eyes with Suna Rintarou
A/N: Kinda shooting in the dark with this one, think it’s a little weird but I’m trying again so that’s nice. Enjoy my 2 am, chocolate hedgehog fuelled ramble fest that ends too quickly but eh because I am WRITINF!
———
It was a dance.
Nothing too complicated; a simple sway with his arms around your waist, a little too fast for the pace of the song. Was he really in a rush to end this little thing you had going on?
You remembered it used to be different. Neither of you could fall in line with each other’s movements. Arms were so straight that they were painful. So, obviously, you agreed to loosen the slack, and then suddenly you were stamping on each other’s feet.
Oh, Atsumu, where do I fall in your world? You thought to yourself.
A silent agreement: in school, you could smile and greet him, but his world was larger than yours. His stars shone brighter. You’d be burnt alive if you stepped any closer. Outside of school, he’d be climbing over you, trying to get the advantage in a game of Mario Kart that he would inevitably lose.
Maybe you yearned for more. Was that such a bad thing?
Not that you’d ever admit it.
“Are you sure you aren’t dating?” Your friends would tease you, to which you’d laugh softly - a well paid actress for the metaphorical camera - shaking your head as they continued, “he’s normally at your place after school. Maybe he’s just too shy to…” and then you’d all be laughing, because Miya Atsumu was anything but shy.
His focus in this dance depends on the time of day, but you pretended it was fine. You had other things to worry about too. Maybe not as cool as volleyball, but important nonetheless.
Your own friends, own studies, own activities. Yes! You thought, though this shouldn’t have been a big revelation. I don’t need him, I can do my own things.
And then…
Like that every day internal struggle never occurred, he’d be back by your side halfway through the walk from school.
Because you always subconsciously waited for him.
You decide - with confidence you’d have to search for again later - that today would be the day that you’d confess your feelings to him.
This dance would no longer be something simple, something childish - if you were honest. It would be something mature, something with power and grace that could warm the hearts of everyone that merely glanced in your direction. Yes, this dance could be… a pas de deux.
Confidence was your name for all of five minutes.
You opened the gym doors, ready to get burnt and blinded, the suffocation of his atmosphere meant nothing to you. Not right now. Because you were a woman with a goal. With power. With meaning.
You searched for the blonde, not that it was difficult, but your eyes - for reasons you don’t know - didn’t collide with his.
Suna Rintarou.
Your eyes met his first.
And, for the first time ever, your eyes shifted away from Atsumu’s figure and this little dance of yours.
———
You aren’t a clumsy dancer.
Atsumu knew this.
You knew their little routine by heart.
You’d wait in the library after school until he texted you that volleyball was done, then wait by the tree that was perfectly halfway to your house. It was something you’d done religiously for many years - though some places differed between middle school and high school.
But since you met Suna’s eyes, it seems like you can’t get anything in your dance right.
You stood on his foot for the first time in years when you waited in the completely wrong spot for him.
Slipped a hand from his shoulder when you forgot to check the forecast and bring a spare umbrella for him.
Completely dropped your grasp when you went home straight after school.
“What is up with you lately?” He asked, almost worried, like you could have been sick. And maybe you were, in a sense, though you’d have to argue that you were more sick of him.
“Nothing,” you blatantly lied, “school is just… you know.” It was a lame excuse, but what exactly could you tell him? That you might have feelings for his teammate?
Ha.
That would be funny, you could almost picture his expression, especially since you were his little secret. Even Osamu didn’t have a hook in you.
So you’d do what any little smitten vixen would, and lied to the one boy who’d meant something to you. “You know,” a quick change of subject, subtle so he won’t question anymore, “my mom got me the new mario kart and switch.”
“Oh, it’s on.” He grinned, and you managed to pretend you were dancing for him now.
With little lies like that, you managed to keep his worries at bay.
But your head in the clouds didn’t mean you’d forgotten about your studies. You had big things you were working towards, no one could stop that, no matter how small they seemed to your dance partner.
The thing was, you didn’t see the fruits of your efforts sprouting until they landed in the palms of your hands. “- that’s what we think, do you have any objections?” Your home room teacher said, looking at you proudly.
“I-I’m sorry, could you repeat that?” You stuttered lightly, to which she chuckled and nodded.
“We think, considering how much your grades have improved, that we should try moving you up to class one.” And there it was. The delicious fruits of your labour. God, you wish you could savour this flavour more, but they needed an answer, and you were more than willing to give!
“Yes!”
You were floating. Glowing and radiant all at once. Nothing can stop you.
You pick up the pace in this dance and twirl you both around, “hey Atsumu!” You greeted him at school, smiling so brightly that for a second he was blinded. He was with Osamu and Suna - but you’d only realise that later, “guess what just happened.” A sing-song voice so pitch perfect pulled from your own throat and shocked you somehow.
His face was covered with a mix of shock and disgust, not that you cared right now, because you should be allowed in the spotlight sometimes too.
Does he not understand that?
Your dance was pulled to an immediate halt.
A standoff between the two of you.
The way he looked at you… God, it should have hurt more than it did. But it didn’t, so you continued. “Wow, aren’t you a supportive friend?” Sarcasm filled your tone, but that didn’t stop you from glowing. You were on a high and no one could drag you down.
“What are you doing?” He asked you in a slightly aggressive hushed tone that you could only counter with a scowl. This always happened when you were kids. But you weren’t kids anymore. There wasn’t any excuse. Deep down, you knew that, but you couldn’t find it in your heart to care.
“Oh, right, sorry. I almost forgot my place.” You heard a sharp intake somewhere to your left. “But since I almost forgot it, I realised I don’t much like it. I’m not a toy you can play with when you want. I’m a person, I have feelings. I have a life beyond you, not that you would know anything about tha-”
“Hey! That isn’t true. I know plenty about you.” Atsumu tried to counter, but you knew you had him in a corner, and so did he.
“Really?” You questioned, brow perfectly quirked. “Then tell me, Miya, tell me one true thing about me: what have I been working towards for the past few months?”
And there it was. A pause you knew was coming, one that was long and uncomfortable. One that fills you with a passion for hatred that consumes you.
It wasn’t surprising. He didn’t know you. He never cared about you. Honestly, you were dumb to think he did.
You scoffed, stepping away from him. “I should have known. I did know. Guess I just wanted to believe it was true, that you cared about me as much as I cared about you.” Deep in his eyes looked heart broken, you could see that. “But I don’t need that. I deserve better than that.”
When you turned away from him, you pulled away from the dance, leaving him watching you as you started to dance by yourself for the first time.
———
Every victory is bittersweet.
The bitterness was that you no longer had someone to completely thrash at Mario Kart, and that your mom would question where that sweet Miya disappeared off to.
The sweetness was that you rarely had to see him. You were now in Class 1. Your dreams and aspirations slowly come true and you can almost taste it.
The future you have is coming over the horizon.
But, for a second, it pauses.
Across the dance floor, you meet eyes with Suna Rintarou as he watches you spin and dance. You watch him take a step forward, his feet touching the same ground as you as he sways playfully around you.
“Hey.” Suna was seated on the opposite end of the room as you, but he’d taken the time to come and approach you. If that wasn’t beautiful, you didn’t know what was.
“Hi.” Your little crush flickered back to life as you got to finally speak to him.
“L/N, right? Atsumu’s friend?” He said, and you couldn’t help but scowl.
“I am L/N, that much is true, but I am not Miya’s friend.”
He pulled up a chair next to you, “he told me about you. Something about how you’d known each other forever. I don’t know. I just thought it was cool how you stood up to him.” Suna said, your breath hitched in your throat.
“Uh, thanks?” The little laugh that escapes is far too close to cutesy that you can only imagine how painstakingly obvious your crush is.
“Yeah,” he looked away, how you wished he didn’t, his eyes were captivating, “hey, I was thinking-”
Sneakily, he’d danced up to you, you didn’t even know when, but suddenly he was beside you; his hand reached out for yours-
“-maybe, you’d wanna hang out after school?”
-and suddenly, you were dancing all over again.
“Yes.” You replied, breathy and nervous. “I would like that.”
“Cool.” He met your eyes. “I would too.”
———
Suna Rintarou doesn’t just sway.
Despite how it may seem, when he dances, he puts all his effort into it. He twirls and lifts you, dipping you carefully underneath the crystal ball, in tune - maybe even a little slower pace, as if he hoped it wouldn’t ever end - and when you were too dizzy, he’d slow down, letting you lead the pace.
Of course, you twirled him, too. Though they never went nearly as gracefully as he did, though that was because you were so much shorter (still, he bent down under your arm and chuckled along).
You felt lucky, loved, and appreciated.
Except when he’d beat you at Mario Kart, but you could forgive him when he sends you a gift on your Animal Crossing.
“Are you two dating?” Your friends ask, and you can only sigh weakly in the best of ways.
They all knew your response, and they were all so happy for you.
Dancing with Suna, was everything you’d ever dreamt.
A pas de deux.
