HoB Cooking with Ansy - Salmon Meunière

This one felt fancy >u>;; Maybe it’s the French name? Or the fact that salmon is a very rare treat for me (since Ikrit hates seafood)? Either way, I may not have made it exactly right, but at least it turned out okay. ouo

I looked in a bunch of different places for what meunière actually is. A traditional meunière seems to involve coating the fish in flour & frying with butter, lemon, & herbs (why it’s usually made with a lighter fish, like sole). When I’ve seen it made in anime like “Campfire Cooking in Another World”, or here in Zelda, it’d also include what looks like a beurre blanc sauce? Ingredients changed, different herbs or methods…

When all’s said & done…I improvised >u<

Hopefully that one Rito girl who was throwing a fit until Link made this for her in BotW enjoyed it as I did. =u=

I thought this would be a good time to offer some transparency with my progress, too: I figured out one of the main reasons I burnt out so quickly after the Chapter 3 intro was because since I started this comic, I made sure to be at least a MONTH in advance of my deadlines.

So, when I was posting 2x a week, I had 8 comics lined up in advance. Now that I’d gone down to once a week, that means I need a 4 comic cushion to work at a much more sustainable rate. ;u;

I’m not sure when I’ll get to that point as of right now, but I am determined to see this story through to the end, as my first ongoing comic - we gotta help canon-ish Ingo & Emmet after all! 8u8 🩵

Shout to the technology/IT experts out there

(Yes, we know you're lurking.)

Recently the Department of Justice propose that, to break up Google's monopoly on the internet, the Chrome web browser be sold to another party.

What has *not* yet been said, as far as I can tell, is if ChromeOS and Chromebooks are included in this bundle. I would imagine not, but considering ChromeOS is Chrome with a couple extra steps, There may be some conflicts when it comes to who gets the source 'code.' Not to mention the hassle of licensing *just* the web browser in OS across the millions of Chromebooks used across just the US.

Now, two of the companies who have proposed buying Chrome are OpenAI and Perplexity (who are aaaaaallll about super personalized ads). I wouldn't let either of these groups close to the education sector with a 40-foot pole, but it may become a reality.

Teaching is hard enough without an instant 'AI' button right on the student's computers, or with more trackers than a rabbit at a hound-dog show. If our current Educational technology base is going to be impacted by this sale, I'd like to know now so I can make appeals to my admin about getting adjusted rather than get blindsided when it eventually hits.

Has there been any statement on if ChromeOS will be impacted by this sale?

(Go to your settings ->Dashboard->Show timestamps, it's the second option from the top. Revel in realizing that, yes, that cool thing everyone's talking about happened 3 days ago and you *have* missed everything)

ImpulseSV I know you’re totally not staying on the hellsite but hypothetically if you were you should know that you can in fact turn on timestamps for posts, Gem could probably hypothetically help you with that too.

During Lent, it's traditional to not eat meat on Fridays as a form of fasting and denial of worldy goods. It's meant to help us re-align ourselves with the lord and remind ourselves of our humble origins.

That being said, it's been a long day, I missed lunch and, technically, cake does not have meat in it.

Today's Victory

Backporting my laptop to Windows 10 because 11 was using 70% of my ram... at default. Literally nothing open but the task manager, and using 70% of 8GB of ram. Even trying to download a picture from the internet would choke it.

Should I upgrade the RAM in my laptop? Yes. but that's not the point.

The point is a >2 year old laptop should not run that poorly. It's not screamed enough about how poorly optimized software is nowadays.

Thanks to a Townsend video today I learned Tears Of The Kingdom’s baked onions aren’t so strange after all, in fact “roasted” onions have some neat culinary & medicinal history irl! 👀
