#kinda a shitpost#i think it's a town#while the population is very small#1307 to be exact#it is incorporated and has a local government#it also is pretty dense as there's not many businesses here it's just house after house in a small area#i spent way too much time on this#i also found out that a hamlet is a thing that exists#a hamlet is smaller than a village and is described as a small settlement with no place of worship and no meeting point#i have no idea why i did this#also of all the names they could've chose for a area smaller than a village why did the choose hamlet?#i am not researching that right now because i feel that will be a hell hole and i don't want to deal with that#and by hell hole i mean i know i'm gonna run into stiff from the play hamlet and have sources that go on for way too long about stuff that#is not important to my question#like a recipe from a blog that tells someones whole life story when all i want to do is to know how to make cookies without a mixer or#baking soda or baking powder depending on what the recipe calls for or whatever

I will never forget when I was researching for a paper on the US healthcare system and getting more and more disappointed the longer I looked into it
#not a shitpost#us health system#you wanna know why the us doesn't have universal healthcare?#healthcare was used as a selling point by companies so people wouldn't go off and work for their competetors#the concept of job funded health insurance got very popular to the point where the hopes of universal insurance faded into obscurity#also lower paying jobs often offer better healthcare because that way people will stick to them more#some higher paying jobs have a trend of not offering as good of health insurance that could easily ensure a family or restrict how many#people can be on the plan so that you'd have to either go work at a lower paying job to cover your family#settle for a large cut in your salary because of insurance or try to get private insurance that will cost a lot because it's not offered by#the company you curently work for#tldr we don't have universal healthcare because of corporate greed

Imho the idea of ‘cruelty free’ products or food shouldn’t mean that nothing died to create it, but rather that anything and anyone involved in the creation process hasn’t been exploited or harmed.
Leather is good actually. Veganism isn’t the end all be all to morality and consumption. The issue isn’t that a chicken died for those nuggets, but that while the chicken was alive, it’s life fucking sucked. Vegan chocolate means little if the cocoa that made it was gathered by child slave labor.
Factory farms, abuses of the people who pick the fruit and vegetables we eat, the focus profit and productivity over all else - that’s the fucking issue here. It’s capitalism folks.
