August 7th 2025 Patreon Update
This is a really big one for Eureka fans, with a bunch of new art and the final finishing touches on the Vampire Trait editing/overhaul. We have also started but not yet finished the Fairy Trait editing/overhaul. Fairies have their own special fairy house options now, which is a really exciting addition. It makes it so that a fairy PC can be more of a weird little guy from the woods or a topless satyr who sometimes shows up playing a flute, also from the woods. They can live in the woods.
The Fanservice Files, The XXX-Files, and all of the adventure modules also have minor but important changes.
Eureka changelog below.
Copy-editing Progress: Thoroughly copy-edited up to p. 521.
We also have a YouTube channel now with quick start videos for Eureka!
CHAPTER ONE
Added Dracula to the inspirations list. How did we forget that one?
Better clarified the experimental Scene shrinking rule for adventures that take place in a single location.
Added an alternative scale for the Ticking Clock meant to be used in single-location mysteries.
Better clarified up front that Eureka is better suited for episodic “anthology” campaigns than years-long epic campaigns
More art has been added
CHAPTER TWO
Tweak to Firearm Skill rating examples
Added special thanks to Faeriedae for the Hobbyist Trait.
Altered the text of the Social Cues Skill to be less of a “lie detector” skill and more of a skill for reading body language and tone, which is something that cannot reliably tell you if somebody is lying by itself.
More art has been added.
CHAPTER THREE
Fixed typo saying that the rules for Firearm Attacks were found in Chapter Three
Clarified that reloading internal magazine guns is to a minimum of 1.
CHAPTER FOUR
Better clarified Woo Roll.
CHAPTER FIVE
Better clarified the module writing guide and the setting guidelines.
Better clarified that the module writing guide is not just for people who want to publish modules, but people who want to just make their own original mystery just for play with their own group.
Added advice on how to set a date for when your adventure takes place. Giving a day of the week, a month, and a day of the month is good, but unless necessary, setting a specific year is not a great idea.
CHAPTER SIX
Moved the vampire trait’s +4 Acceleration rule from Superhuman Strength to Exanimate
Vampires no longer affected by artificial UV lights, now just sunlight
Made it so there is a minimum amount of silver that will debilitate a vampire
Better mechanized removing silver embedded in a vampire’s body
Realized that all the Living Dolls with Superhuman Strength had the old Superhuman Strength bonuses instead of the new Superhuman Strength bonuses and nobody noticed this until now because all Living Dolls anyone wants to play are robotic or porcelain/clockwork.
Metal Statue Living Dolls now have a +1 Close Combat bonus instead of a +7.
Stone Statue Living Dolls now have a +1 Close Combat bonus instead of a +5.
Straw living dolls now have a -1 Close Combat penalty instead of -3.
Wax Living Dolls now have a -1 Close Combat penalty instead of -2.
Fixed typo in the Vampire Trait Stealth bonus.
Vampire Scent Tracking is no longer specifically blood-reliant.
Better clarified vampires and holy symbols
Better clarified the counting obsessions of vampires
Staking a vampire now debilitates them instead of paralyzing them.
Better clarified the rules for staking a vampire.
Better codified the rules for staking a vampire.
The How to Kill a Vampire For Good no longer has to be done in a specific order. But still good luck doing it.
Better codified how vampires are detected by EMF detectors.
Vampires are also now detectable by gradually intensifying radio static like Silent Hill monsters. The radio static does not happen on literally every radio channel but it takes a Technology roll to find one that is not affected.
Clarified that vampires do not freeze in the conventional sense even at extremely low temperatures.
Clarified that automated motion sensors, facial recognition, etc, will never detect a vampire.
Better clarified the appearance of vampires.
Slightly better clarified the distance at which vampires can be clearly seen, but still kept it pretty vague.
Finally freaking finished the editing/overhaul of the vampire trait! Now on to the fairy trait!
Changed the procedure for Spiriting Back a character that has been spirited away and introduced complications that can occur.
Fairies now have a Fairy-Trait-specific home option with multiple upgrade options and utilities. The section is called “Ystadau.”
Changed Weather Affect heading to Affect Weather.
Changed Poltergeist Activity in the Fairy Trait to Mischief
Also changed it in the Changeling Trait.
Better clarified and codified Mischief ability for Fairy Trait.
Clarified more stuff in the Fairy Trait requires a Powers Composure Roll.
Better specified who can be targeted by a fairy curse.
Fixed typos in Fairy Curses
Replaced the list of animals a Fairy curse of transformation with a whole new list of animals for fairies only, distinct from the same curse from a witch.
Fairy curse of transformation can turn people into plants too now.
More art has been added.

Making a Pyrokinetic Punkette in Eureka: Investigative Urban Fantasy
Watch this video to see a picture of @umbraldame cat.
This video is something kinda different from the other A.N.I.M. YouTube content, I had the idea to make more than one full character creation video walkthrough in order to show off the broad range of characters that can be made in Eureka, and decided to bring on a friend (team artist @umbraldame) to make one her characters, Burnadette. What it turned into was more like a podcast than an instructional video, and it was so much fun that I will definitely be doing this again with other people.
