omw to explain to a man friend of mine that misandry is not a thing
might just show him manchild from sabrina carpenter
that would at least be fun for me too
#this specifically is why i don't like most men#they love to explain the most arbitrary things to you some of which you probably know more about#but as soon as something is not about them#they don't understand anything#and all of a sudden they don't know how to do proper research anymore#misogyny is in everything everyday of my life as someone perceived as a woman#misandry

Last year I finally had an excuse to illustrate this simple little Tumblr story by @bees-with-swords I've had bookmarked forever for class.
I hope you like it :]

seriously though, the main character girl in queer relationships still has to be the small feminine one because god forbid we have a main character defying the holy trinity of fmc gender norms: girl, strong but secretly small and feminine girl, evil sexy woman™️ who will die sexily

This is true when you think about it
#I'm like joking#tired of this though#it's what happens when straight people try to make queer art but you know it's only for profit and also they know 1 gay person

in my book this is where they sorta locked in on it
like that's why tim treated her so badly afterwards for "lying on the record", he couldn't believe he was so open and emotional in front of his BOOT and he cannot deal with her caring so much about him
i also think that lucy knew there was SOMETHING between them but she didn't take it seriously yet, maybe explained it away with mentor-mentee dynamic psychology and the likes and really she probably didn't care much what it was as long as he got out alive
posting a chenford gif a day until the rookie comes back (day 20)
#i miss them so much#i need more#like is it too much to ask that they give us happy healthy loving chenford#don't think so#chenford#lucy chen#tim bradford#the rookie#dailychenfordgif25

I am spoiling the live action Lilo & Stitch. And I am doing it up front and plainly.
Do not fucking see this movie. Do not waste your money on this. Period.
They made Nani give Lilo up to the American government. They made Nani LEAVE Hawaii and pursue being a marine biologist. They made a native Hawaiian character give up her sibling to pursue a dream that she originally did not have. This is imperialist propaganda at its FINEST.
The original fucking movie is about family staying together. It's about indigenous people being able to stay with each other and stay in their home and be together! That's the whole fucking point! Nani is Lilo's last living relative on her homeland—it is jarring, it is disgusting and disturbing that Nani would not only leave her last blood relative alone, give her up to the very government that is harming native Hawaiians TODAY, but also travel to the "mainland" for her dream!
Not to mention, Nani's actress isn't fucking Hawaiian. She's much paler in photos and real life. They fucking darkened her for this movie.
Don't even get me started on the transgender subtext of Pleakley's "human" disguise from the original movie being completely erased in favor of him being played by a regular ass white man. Jumba doesn't have his accent, they made him more villainous, and his "human" disguise is a non-fat white man—which part of his original joke, I know, is that he was bigger and was more clumsy in the movie because of his size, but to have the main shape of his character completely removed is also fucking weird.
This live action movie is a desecration to the original. I encourage you to not see it, please. Don't give Disney any of your money on this one. Just watch the original. Please just watch the original.
The new message in the live action movie is disturbing and gross.
This is one of the most disrespectful live actions I've seen and heard of. I implore you to not watch it.

i have a friend who i thought was equally obsessed because she talked like she was equally obsessed
i have to remind her to watch the episodes and she does not know the lore, not really and it's totally fine i'm just grieving what could have been
I really hate it when you find someone who loves a show that you're obsessed with, only to realize they're not at all obsessed like you 😂
Me: did you watch the rookie last night?
Co-worker: oh it was on last night? I forgot. Did that one woman cop get back with the mean cop? You know, not Castle, the other guy?

ok i would love this, if this didn't mean that eddie's actions could be equated to domestic violence. bc he did push buck against a wall and grabbed him and shoved his hand in buck's face and if they were an actual couple this would be domestic violence and it wouldn't even be a question bc you have maddie as a parallel right there. i am so angry at the kitchen scene and at the fact that we do not openly enough talk about how eddie exhibited violent behavior towards his best friend and that this wasn't okay at all, grief or no grief.
i really didn't like how they wrote eddie for this whole season because buck deserves the world and more and he definitely did not deserve eddie lashing out like this.
we could have had such a beautiful buddie reunion but they had to do this entire shit show and murder the dad character and kill everything and everyone's vibe with it. why.
okay so what I think is SO interesting and honestly incredible about the writing and cinematography of the kitchen scene is the fact that it manages to turn buck and eddie's entire relationship on its head in both a meta sense and a story sense in the space of just a few minutes. because yes they have had other partners off and on until recently, but "husband" is the space that buck and eddie usually inhabit for each other. and I mean this in an in universe way but also in a meta way, like they are each other's confidantes and support system, yes, but they are also 100% written as the fourth married couple on the show and always have been even in the past when they had other partners. they have always been given equal weight as the other main couples on the show.
so in a meta sense, yes they've always been written with the tropes of a couple for storyline purposes etc because they're usually paired off together. but this is THE first time that they have ever been so explicitly written as spouses, and it's done in conflict. they are in their shared home with their shared grocery shopping and having a fight that has the energy of a married couple teetering on the brink of divorce. the scene feels like something out of Marriage Story dropped into the middle of an episode of network procedural television. it is lit and shot in a way that has only been used twice before on this show, both times for previous breakups that buck and eddie have separately had in that same set. and it is SO raw and intense and close, like you can feel them clinging to each other and pushing each other away at the same time.
and then also like. in a story sense it is twisting this idea as well because they're fighting about a lot of different things (grief, loss, miscommunication, desire, shared anger, longing) but the thing that is sparking the fight in the moment or at least tipping it over the edge is the fact that buck is trying so hard to be what everyone needs at once. he's trying to be there for EVERYONE and trying so hard not to leave anyone out in the cold in their grief because that's what bobby told him to do (in his mind). and while buck is doing all of this and also processing his own enormous grief, he is missing the fact that what Eddie needs right now is not the same as what everyone else needs from him. everyone else has their families and their partners and their private grief, but what Eddie needs in all of this is for buck to fill the emotional role that he usually fills, which is – for all intents and purposes – his husband. and this is sort of the first tacit acknowledgement that what they are to each other and what they need from each other is something different than what they are to the other people in their lives.
#i really hate the kitchen scene#buddie#evan buck buckely#eddie diaz#911#911 spoilers#i swear if you try to call me racist over this-#bc that tells me that you don't know shit and throw around big words to make yourself feel better for glossing over violence

you know, i'm chenford defender no. 1 which is wild to me bc i have personal trauma with age gaps. but that probably explains my love for lucy and tim because lucy grows into such a strong, independent, self-assured and powerful woman over the course of the show and that shifts the power dynamic.
which is why tim is making me a little mad right now. he grew so much, he actually went to therapy, he understood he made mistakes (in my opinion he needs to keep apologizing some more tho) and he makes her food and then he skips two thousand steps and asks her to move in with him?
bitch?? be glad she has forgiven you but she has not forgotten. and neither have i
#if i catch this man#she JUST said that they had other problems too#timothy dumbford#lucy chen#chenford#tim bradford#the rookie#the rookie spoilers#if they ruin chenford i will not be okay
