The age of eligibility for an ABLE account, allowing USAmerican disabled people to save up money without losing their government assistance for having “too much,” is going to go up to cover disabilities diagnosed by age 46 (currently it’s age 26), meaning a much larger number of people will be able to access them. As the article notes, many Americans don’t know these accounts exist, let alone whether they or someone they care for could qualify for one, so please share this information around.
It seems to me it would obviously be better if the “no more than $2000 a month” limit were simply removed and disabled people could have whatever savings accounts they chose, but this is heaps better than nothing.

Basically I don't think anyone in the trans community takes anything away from any other parts of the trans community.

absolutely incredible to me that "in the event of your inability to consent, your autonomy and rights will be entrusted to your closest living relative or parental guardian" is a pillar of widely accepted legislation upholding almost every society across the modern world and not like. the premise of some work of speculative horror fiction.

Trans women protesting outside Scottish Parliament.
I love it when trans women protest topless. If they're arrested, the state must admit they're women. If they aren't, it shows the glaring contradictions of labeling trans women as legally male. It helps their cause either way.

I was wondering if you have any experience/info on medical transition as a nonbinary person in Israel? Like when getting a diagnosis or applying for hrt/surgery do people understand stuff like nonbinary sex dysphoria or do you have to say you feel like you should be fully male/female or whatever? Basically just can you medically transition as a nonbinary person without having to go through a bunch of extra hoops. I’m fluent casually in Hebrew but not enough to be able to properly get what a lot of websites and forums say, and they’re about binary trans people anyway so idrk
Oh great question!
So we have here something that's called the "gender reassignment committee". It's the committee you go through if you want to legally change your gender, and they can also approve that you need certain surgeries as life saving surgeries and then they're completely covered by your national insurance.
When it comes to legal gender, we only have two. When it comes to types of surgeries, for top surgeries you have breast reduction, breast removal, and breast expansion. For bottom surgery you have one surgeon in Israel who does mft surgeries and the option to do bottom ftm surgeries abroad, I don't know about bottom surgeries that aren't binary.
You also have the option to get a hysterectomy if you have a uterus, and the option to choose if you want to remove the ovaries or not if you have them.
If you want to do HRT you can get it without the committee, but it can happen through them as well. I've heard there are options for taking hormones in a way that isn't strictly binary but I personally didn't try.
Now, when it comes to what you actually need to say in front of the committee - I literally told them I don't feel dysphoria when I went through the committee, and I got approved for the surgeries I wanted. Since then I learnt I do feel dysphoria but just used to avoiding it like fire, but I explained to them that what I'm looking for is mostly gaining euphoria, not losing dysphoria, and they accepted it. I told them I'm not sure I wasn't a breast reduction or complete removal and they told me I just need to choose because it's a different referral and they need to know what to give me. I wanted to remove my uterus without the ovaries and they were completely fine with that. When I said I'm not interested in hormones, they suggested I look into micro dosing T but didn't push. I also didn't legally change my gender.
I never once tried to claim I'm a trans guy to get approved. I was just honest about my experience.
Do keep in mind it takes ages to get approved tho. I also don't think they cover things like face reshaping and stuff like that.

reminder that visibly religious people belong at pride. that person wearing a hijab is not a threat to you. that person wearing tzitzit and a kippah is not a threat to you. someone simply wearing an item that is culturally or religiously important to them is not a threat to you. however, your aggression upon seeing a religious person at pride is a threat to them.

you are 16. you are talking with a gay man in his 50s or 60s, a friend, huge and gentle with a scarf and short fluffy curls of gray hair, who has directed you in two plays staged in your mid-size artsy town. (he has not yet asked you to be in his production of The Laramie Project which will change your life. this conversation will also change your life.)
he is talking about theatre. he is talking about theatre when he was younger. he says, "of course, it was AIDS then." in the pause, you ask him. clumsy and quiet and 16 and "straight," you ask him. what was it like.
he takes a moment in which his face is not like a person's face. "there was a time," he says, "i'm not sure how long, years. when i went to a funeral every weekend." he tells you about two funerals in a day, and choosing between friends when you couldn't make it to both. he does not look at you, he looks at them. his wet grey gaze is so clear that you start to see ghosts. it will be years before you understand why it feels like your grief too. why the ghosts call you family.

Full offense but if as a queer goy your first response to “Jewish people are in danger because of Kanye West’s antisemitic comments” is “they’ll come for queer people after they come for the Jews, we need to act” you should really be asking yourself why you need to make this about queer people and not Jewish people to care enough to act. Like yes this isn’t good for anyone but why does it need to be about you for you to care. Queer Jews are already in danger from this. Are we not human enough for you to give a shit about us?

A lot of you genuinely believe intersex liberatuon comes second hand to trans liberation and that trans people matter more. Intersex oppression is just an additive to trans oppression and shouldn't be a main focus. And I'm getting sick of it. I am sick of intersex people trying to make ignorant peritrans people listen just to be met with a bs analysis of oppression about how we "all suffer" so it [intersex oppression] doesn't really matter.
Perisex trans people need to realize intersex people are a minority in their own right and the oppression we face is not transphobia misdirected.
