Greeting: “Yeah?” Cannot be bothered. Doesn’t actually care and you can tell.

Dismissed: “Alright.” Again, could not be bothered. Definitely some sarcasm. Will immediately turn back to whatever he was doing before.

Neutral/Warm (-5 to 74)

Greeting: “Need something?” No sarcasm for once. Actually wants to be helpful.

Dismissed: “Another time then.” No sarcasm. Wants to continue the conversation but understands you’re busy.

Friendly (75 to 125)

Greeting: “Hey!” Has a small smile on his face the whole conversation.

Dismissed: “I’m here if you need anything.” Again, he actually wants to be helpful here.

Romanced

Greeting: “There you are!” Couldn’t be happier to see you. Looks at you like you’re the world.

Dismissed: “Anything for you, love.” A wink and a grin. Still looking at you like you’re everything to him (you are).

Incredible the Dorian sex scene starts with him confessing you’ve already got him. He’s been resisting because he respects you more than he’s respected anyone in a long time. But he’s surrendering as he takes charge and grabs the inquisitor by the waist. After all the flirting where he dances away from admitting how much he likes you, often falling silent when the inquisitor is at his most sincere (because he doesn’t know how to accept it, trust it, and it’s overwhelming).

“I’m gotten.” I’m yours. I give up. He’s already in love with you.

And after. Trying desperately to give you an out, because his respect for you, his feelings for you, and his own self worth are at war with each other: “We end it now, I walk away. I won’t be pleased, but I’d rather now than later. Later… would be dangerous… Walking away might be harder then.” I give up. I’m yours. I don’t know if you can be mine. I don’t want to let you go, but I can’t ask you to stay. So instead he asks if you want to leave. Incredible that he surrenders to you, to his feelings, and still isn’t sure he’s worth sticking around for.

I like the alternate version of this scene ofc, it’s adorable, but this version is my favorite in terms of how it plays out for him emotionally. The push and pull of giving in, resisting. A performance the inquisitor sees through immediately. “You’ve rooted me out…”

Assuring him you’re already his is so natural. “I want something more than just fun…” In the line delivery from both male Inquisitor VAs, it’s obvious. Simple. You can almost hear the bemused question mark at the end. It’s not even a confession, it’s a reassurance of something Dorian should already know by now. Literally and figuratively naked to each other. It might be my favorite sex scene.

WIP WEDNESDAY

this is piece from a Father’s Day inspired fic I’m writing (it also doubles as part of Rook’s backstory). the first chapter focuses on my Inquisitor, who happens to be Rook’s dad.

I wanted to make each chapter a little different stylistically (since each chapter is from a different pov), so I decided to frame this one as a few journal entries that Arwyn wrote about Elio.

Elio,

You and your grandma came to Haven today. It was a risk, bringing you here, but I couldn’t shake the feeling that you’re safer here with me than you will be with our clan near Wycome. Your grandma was hesitant to make the journey, but she understood why I asked her to bring you here.

I’ll never forget the look on your face. It was like you stepped into another world. It made me realize you’ve been further than the outskirts of a village or farm before.

I’m sorry if I couldn’t explain our situation very well. I’m still having a difficult time understanding it, too. All this talk about Andraste and the Chantry and the mark on my hand is more than I can wrap my head around. But you’ve always been a smart kid. Maybe you understand this better than I do.

I know things are different now. But I promise, we’ll be okay. This will all be over soon, and we’ll go back to our clan. I can’t promise it’ll be like nothing ever happened, but things will be normal again one day.
