WIZARDING SCHOOLS AROUND THE WORLD: DUBAI

The Dubai School for Gifted Magic Folk is a relatively small school that is split between two locations: a mansion that is concealed from muggle eyes by shifting sands, and a series of houses on an island just off of the coast. There are a series of portkeys and portals on each of the campuses that lead to the other for easy navigation, although some extremely bright students have figured out how to cast trick enchantments on portkeys and passageways to make them temporarily lead to other places (the furthest diversion achieved sent a confused student across the Strait of Hormuz to Iran). It is the most recently established school in the international wizarding community, and it is the most modern in its studies and practices. The school is very accepting of muggle technology, and it is largely experimental in a type of magic that is a combination of traditional charms and technology manipulation. The secondary island campus hosts traditional classes such as Magical Spices and Their Uses, Water Manipulation, and Sea Creatures Studies.

RAVEN CYCLE HARRY POTTER AU WHERE BLUE IS GRYFFINDOR AND EVERYONE ELSE IS IN SLYTHERIN

i WAS CHATTING WITH natroze (re: yelling incoherently) about my harry potter raven cycle headcanons and like. Sure, you can sort them into four different houses and have a cool inter-house diversity friendship. OR you could put all the boys in Slytherin (because Gansey is from an important pureblood family and Adam is too ambitious for his own good and Ronan keeps getting described by snake metaphors). And then Blue could be a super judgmental (because she’s Blue) Gryffindor who assumes all Slytherins are total assholes EXCEPT THEN

And at the end of the day we all learn a Very Important Lesson about judging people based only on ‘simplifying’ characteristics and how the idea of sorting based on personality is problematic because nobody is only one single trait. People are complex and shouldn’t be defined by one thing and the reason I love this series so much is because all of the characters are perfect in their imperfections. So even though they’re all a bunch of Slytherins none of the characters really belong to a single house because the very idea of sorting is kind of a disservice to characterization.

(Except Noah who’s 200% Hufflepuff I don’t know what he’s doing in this AU maybe everyone keeps assuming he’s a Slytherin and he’s too Noah to correct them)
