MOON 0 (PT. 2)

A strange cat appears…..

The sound of running water and crickets filled Bright-Star’s ears, smells of wildflowers invading their nose; a nostalgic feeling that rushed through it that made their fur bristle. It felt like grass was brushing against their paws, tickling their pads. They slowly began to open their eyes, a kaleidoscope of colors flashing across their vision, and for a second they thought they saw a familiar barn before they found themselves in a place of stars glittering wherever they looked.

“Hello?” It meowed, flinching a little hearing the echo of their voice. “Hello?” It meowed again, this time more loudly, hoping something or someone could hear them. The smell of cheap flowery perfume and chocolate filled the air before the moon-glossed clouds swirled around into a vague shape of a silver fured elderly cat.

“Madam Waterfall?” Bright-Star squeaked, their ears perked up as the elderly she-cat slowly walked up to them, her pelt filled with stars. “Hello dearie” Madam Waterfall said softly, a slight smile on her face, her voice sounding like a bird song. Bright-Star looked into Madam Waterfall’s eyes, there was a slight tired look in her eyes, but a lot less noticeable than they were used to. “My, my, you’ve changed so much. It only seems like yesterday when you were barely bigger than a flower” she purred, a small crystal suddenly appeared, showing what was originally a distant memory. A quaint little barn, multiple little orphaned kits running around, and a slightly younger version of Madam Waterfall and a barely week old Bright-Star. “It’s been so long since I’ve seen you, but unfortunately, the Crystal only gives me so much time. But don’t you cry now, I can still see you in your dreams”. She then leaned close to Bright-Star, a sharp sudden spark coursing through their veins.

“I give you a life for carefulness, a life for wisdom, a life for strength, a life for maternal love, a life for confidence, a life for humor, a life for happiness, a life for courage. And finally, a life for endurance.” Madam Waterfall pulled back and her smile was wider. Bright-Star couldn’t help but shiver, as the lives imbedded themselves into its soul they felt so alive, like they were taking their first breath. “And remember dearie, treat the tribe like I treated you youngsters and it will thrive” and then, in a blink of an eye Madam Waterfall was suddenly gone, the cheap perfume smell the only thing left behind. And Bright-Star could feel themselves slipping into consciousness again.

MOON 0 (PT.1)

The Chiefs have received their 9 lives from the Arch Fae Crystal. They meet someone from their past that they didn’t know that they would ever meet again. Their leader ceremony will start soon at moon-high

(Bright-Star/ careful & great teacher/ 88 moons/ Chief) (Stone-Watcher/ faithful & smart/ 71 moons/ Chief) (Grey-Sea/ ambitious & great fighter/ 153 moons/ Chief) (Dark-Star/ responsible & very smart/ 34 moons/ Chief)

The entrance to the cave looked horrifying to Stone-Watcher, the rocks from above looking like the fangs of a serpent, the darkness beyond leading to the belly of the beast. She felt like a tiny kitten again the more she kept looking at it.

But blue watched as Dark-Star walked towards the entrance, his paw steps so feather-light that he barely touched the ground. It’s cosmic pelt swallowing up any moonlight that shined down on him. Grey-Sea and Bright-Star followed suit, Dark-Star acting like a guiding light for the three of them. The cave was silent besides the sounds of water dripping and the cats paw steps. “Stone-Watcher?” A soft yet gruff voice said from beside her, she looked to see Grey-Sea looking at her with a curious smile. “I was wondering… how did you know that the cavern was hidden by a vail?” He asked with a purr “the vail?” Stone-Watcher repeated, raising her crystalline tail. “The vail…. The up-walker told me about when he discovered it about a year ago. He says that someone must of put it there because they didn’t want anyone finding out about the crystal”.

The four Chiefs stood before the giant Arch Crystal, the stone made the cats look ants in comparison. Shining light of various kinds of blues and pinks reflecting off the cave walls, a silent vibration echoing out. The Chiefs then bow, quietly waiting for it to speak. “YOU’VE COME TO RECEIVE YOUR LIVES” a voice said that seemed to be everywhere yet no where at once “COME FORWARD AND I SHALL GRANT THEM, ONE BY ONE. BRIGHT-STAR, COME FORWARD”. Bright-Star’s fur bristled for a second when the voice said their name, they slowly got closer, the water under their paws making them feel like they were levitating before it's nose touched the Fae Crystal. Just when it did it felt like their own soul was being swooped away like an eagle catching a fish, and the last thing they see is their body below them.

Extras💎💠🔮🌙

Scorpii: she was brought to Diamond tribe after Stone-Watcher found her alone and trapped in a tree. She was most likely orphaned so Stone-Watcher took Scorpii into her care. She’s quite needy for attention for a kitten, mostly from the older cats. I often see her making flower crowns from the flowers that grow in the tribe’s camp, mostly daisies (cisgender she/her)

Woodsaw: she was brought along when Cowie joined the Diamond tribe, she was only a few days old when she arrived and Cowie told me that she took her in her care after her mother died during childbirth. She’s not fully weaned yet so I’m the one who feeds her since none of the she-cats of the Diamond tribe can produce milk yet. (Cisgender she/her)

Starling: he was taken into the Quartz tribe after a she-cat came and gave her up because she was unable to keep taking care of her. Starling was uncomfortable at first being around a bunch of strangers but she soon warmed up to them soon after. (Bi-gender he/her)

Orange: he came to the Moonstone tribe along with his grandfather after their home was destroyed. Orange seems to be having trouble adjusting to the life of the outside since he always trips over himself whenever Almond takes him on hunting patrols. (Cisgender he/him)

Pepper: he’s Orange’s grandfather and seems to not like talking about his past to the tribe members, probably since he’s still new to it. He seems the most comfortable around Almond since she’s Orange’s mentor (cisgender he/him)

Marble: she is Dark-Star’s daughter and really enjoys being in the tribe, I often see her following her father around and playing around with her aunt Sparrow. She often tells me about excited she is about becoming an apprentice the next full moon and wonders who Dark-Star will assign as her mentor. Though she doesn’t talk about her mother a lot, either because she doesn’t really remember her or something else (cisgender she/her)

Opal tribe 🔮

The Chief: Dark-Star, I’ve decided to up the dosage of the Fae Crystal water and I’m absolutely blown away from the results. A simple cat turned into a gorgeous cosmic creature. When I first met it I knew shortly after that he would be the best position for Chief despite his relatively young age, I suppose he can assist me with further research. (Gothgender he/him/it/it’s)

The Diplomat: Lions-Iorn, I tried giving him the same dosage as Dark-Star but it doesn’t seem like his body could handle it. Xhey seems to develop some type of envy for Dark-Star and his child (but not Sparrow for some reason). However, xhey does his job well and gets along with the rest of the tribe. (Leogender he/him/xhey/xhem)

The Healer: Moon-Mouse, the one word that I can describe Moon-Mouse is “prodigy”. Such a young cat, barely out of his adolescence and is capable of being the sole healer of the tribe. But it seems that he has the same envy problem as Lions-Iorn, though it might become of a personality clash. (Cisgender he/him)

The Warriors: Tigers-Eye, I don’t have a lot to say for her. They often does their own thing in the tribe and seems to go his own pace, but I’ve noticed that she’s spending a lot of time near Dark-Star. It seems to be only platonic so far but I’m going to keep my eye on those two. (Kitsunegender any pronouns)

Sparrow, she is Dark-Star’s little sister who first came here when the injury on her right eye became infected, thankfully it healed but it left a scar and blind in that eye. And the theory I had for the Crystal Water affecting familial genetics seems to be right, but less to be an extent this time with Sparrow. (Jewel-girl gender she/her/it/gem/gemself)

Mumble-Berry, she seems to having trouble getting along with the tribe. The main targets of his dislike is mostly Lions-Iorn and Dark-Star, I’m not sure if it’s because leaf has trouble with authority or she struggles with holding grudges or because of the large age difference between him and everyone else. Whatever it is, I hope that it doesn’t decay into full-on hatred. (Matchagender she/he/leaf/leafself)

Moonstone tribe🌙

The Chief: Bright-Star, they has such a strange yet unique mutation they have. The water has changed it’s so much that their is barely recognizable from their former appearance. Although they has trouble making decisions, they’ve been very careful about the said decisions they makes. Hopefully they’ll get better once it gets more comfortable with it’s new leadership role. (Aliengender they/them/it)

The Diplomat: Daisy-Hunter, a strange creature for sure. I can’t even put any words in what I felt in the moment I saw his mutation come through. Confused would be an understatement but the rest of the tribe seems to enjoy their presence. I guess that would be the case since Bright-Star gave him an apprentice to work with. (Birthday gender he/they/she/xhey/xhem)

The Healer: Agnes-Forest, my second human experiment and I’m surprised that they hasn’t as wildly as the rest of the tribe, but I still welcome the results. I was nervous do the experiment at first because the person was still alive but dying in contrast with the first human experiment where they were already dead. Due to this they show a higher level of intelligence compared to others and is cable of using tools, mainly for art. (Color gender they/them)

The Gather’s: Dawn, I’m honestly not sure what bugs DNA seem to mix with hers when she mutated. But unlike Whiplash they seems to have a hard time trying to fly and stay in the air, I chalked it up to her body still developing but seeing how small it’s wings are compared to their body is a cause for concern. (Faeflux she/her/they/them/it)

Oak seed, I’m honestly quite concerned about her. Ever since I introduced her to the Moonstone tribe she has had a rocky relationship with Bright-Star for some reason. But it seems the dislike only appears on Oakseed’s side so I hope she grows past her feelings about Bright-Star and nothing dangerous. (Star girl gender she/her/it/star/starself)

Almond, dealing with a cat like Almond was a constant struggle and risk, mainly for the fact that she has glands all over her body that can release strong bolts of electricity when she was angry or threatened. And it doesn’t help that it’s the most aggressive cat so far I have dealt with and has a big dislike for Oakseed and both tribe apprentices. (Hyper girl gender she/her/it/fastself)

Quartz Tribe 💠

The Chief: Grey-Sea, Grey-Sea is an old cat (or at least for a cat who has been a stray for his entire life). But he is very ambitious and is a great fighter for her age so it probably wasn’t surprising that the Arch Fae Crystal chose star to be the Chief of the Quartz tribe. (Cosmicflux he/him/they/her/star/starself)

The Healer: Snow-Heart, she sometimes sees Grey-Sea as a father figure to her, especially after he welcomed her to be the tribe’s healer along with her daughter. Snow-Heart likes to keep things simple and organized, and I see her looking through the books in my library with her apprentice. (Cisgender she/her)

The Diplomat: Jasper-Guard, I’m honestly quite concerned about Grey-Sea’s choice of making Jasper-Guard as Diplomat since has been having trouble with dealing with the responsibilities that come with the position. But I can see why he did because the cat has potential. (Firegender he/him/it/flame/flameself)

The Rangers: Snow-Coal, I was completely blown away by the mutation she went through, somehow the Crystal water made them a complete copy of her mother (except she’s black and white). I’ll have to wait for any kittens to be born to how the water affects them genetically. (Demi-girl she/they)

Eel, he was found dead by the shoreline by Sapphire but the Crystal water managed to revive him. Bone developed gills and even fish-like scales on certain parts of his body. And on further examination it developed teeth similar to a moray eel (which the tribe named him since it seems like it developed amnesia after he was revived). He also has a habit of accidentally wandering across into the Opal tribe territory while swimming. (Fossil gender he/it/bone)

Sapphire, he seems to be having trouble getting along with the other cats but it’s getting better. His mutation hasn’t changed gem much except for his eyes, looking like actual gemstones and seems to have the ability to see through solid objects (I’ll have to experiment with this more). (Gemboy gender he/him/gem/gemself)

Wheat, Wheat was adopted by Grey-Sea after a man came up to me while I was visiting the local market and gave me her, saying there were too many cats on his farm and needed to get rid of the extras. Sweet has a lot of potential when she grows up, especially since she’s being mentored by the Chief. (Cute gender she/her/sweet/sweetself)

Let me introduce you to the Diamond-Tribe 💎

The Chief: Stone-Watcher, the very first cat I experimented on with the water that seeped from the Fae Crystal. I found her when blue was close to death and had a severe infection in her eyes (which caused her to develop multiple eyes during her mutation). Blue’s a smart cat and is faithful to those close to her but seems to have trouble opening up to the other cats. (Bluegender she/her/blue/blueself)

The healer: Laurel-Beauty, Stone-Watch brought her here after she had severe food poisoning from a tainted mouse. Bloom then showed her capabilities in medicine when she was able to identify every plant I had in my garden. Bloom’s a pretty shameless cat from what I’ve seen but her keen eye makes up for it. (Bloomgirl she/her/bloom/bloomself

The diplomat: Glow-Bloom, she was the second cat that I’ve experimented on. I’m not sure if it’s the effects of it’s mutation but sour often shows strange behaviors and patterns even for a cat but she seems to get along with the rest of the tribe. Though it does disturb the others when her face is locked in a horrified yet smiley look. (Citrusgender she/her/it/sour/sourself)

The Hunters: Salt, Salt was the first human experiment I’ve ever done and I’m very surprised and proud by the results. It was jarring at first seeing the salt crystal formations across her body and hearing his spit up tar-like fluid constantly but I soon got used to the side effects of Salt’s mutation. (Genderfluid, any pronouns)

Whiplash, he has had the strangest mutations I’ve seen in a while. I’ve never expected the Crystal water to mix DNA of two completely different organisms but I welcomed it hold heartedly. Bug’s a very loyal and very good at public speaking, I’m sure if something happens to Glow-Bloom, Whiplash will be a good candidate for replacement. (Bug-gender he/him/it/bug/bugself)

Cowie, she came to the tribe one day with a newborn kit that she helped its mother give birth to. The tribe welcomed both of them in with open arms and Cowie seems to enjoy telling her stories about her life to the other cats. (Cisgender she/her)

Sunny, this cat is a strange little and seems to completely encompass the sign of Aries. He’s almost an adult but still has some growing to do and Whiplash has taken the mantle of being his mentor. (Cupcakegender he/him/sugar/sugarself)

Amethyst, Amethyst is the newest member of the Diamond tribe and seems to be getting along with everyone. But she has a tendency to get really shy but has a big loving heart. (Cuddlegender he/him/she/sleepy/sleepyself)

you might have not heard of me, so let me introduce myself. I am Dr. Esposito and I’m a scientist solo-studying the beauty of the fae-wild. That’s all I’m going to say about myself for anonymity reasons (I’m already in hot water with multiple governments) but I’m more than willing to share my experiences and stories with all of you~Dr. Esposito March/1/1968
