pictured: books i am currently reading
hello lovelies 💫 i just finished reading an indigenous peoples’ history of the united states and let me just say - it is a must read. it completely changed my perspective on the united states and left me wanting to know more.

ignore the fact that i’m posting this a day later but this week has been a pretty physically active one in between work and preparing for next semester, and i’m feeling pretty good overall! some of my highlights included:
a trip to cathedral grove up island, and being able to see some of the oldest living trees in the country. the ones pictured aren’t even close to the biggest ones i saw.
wandering around a local park with a friend once we returned home, and her subsequently infodumping about all of the species of spiders she found.
and, of course, homemade peach cobbler from my grandma <3

hey, thanks for the response!
science isn’t really my friend either, which is why i’m doing a ba instead of a bsc in anthro. it’s still not as easy as my classics minor, but i care about the subject so that makes it easier.
as for your other question the michif (or métis as we’re more commonly called) are one of the three recognized groups of indigenous people in canada alongside the first nations and inuit. if you’re interested in reading a bit more about us, the canadian encylopedia has a good article, as does chelsea vowel.
let me (re)introduce myself.
even though i’ve had this account for several years through multiple urls and many educational changes, i’ve never had much luck in putting it to good use. i’m hoping to change that this coming school year.
without further adieu, here are some of the most important facts about me:
about me
my name is faith.
i’m 20 years old, turning 21 in november (i’m a scorpio. make of that what you will).
i’m a butch lesbian and i use she/they pronouns.
i’m mixed white and michif (very disconnected though rip)
i live on canada’s west coast.
i’m both an overachiever who thrives off of academic praise and a chronic procrastinator. oops.

about my studies
i’m double majoring in anthropology and environmental studies (for my career) while minoring in classics (for fun).
i’ve switched my major several times, and transferred to my current university after my first year at a different institution.
my studies have been greatly impacted by my mental health, but i’m still here and determined to get through it - even after so many setbacks.
my dream job is to be a full time field archaeologist mostly because academia scares me but i still really want to work in this field.
about my interests.
my academic interests primarily lie in environmental archaeology, zooarchaeology, and ethnobotany.
basically, i’m fascinated by the way that humans interact with the natural world.
outside of my academics i love the great outdoors, buying books (and occasionally actually reading those books) and the colour green <3
about my goals
i plan on participating in my first field school in summer 2022, so i hope to focus on getting my gpa up to at least a 7.0/9.0 (currently i’m at a 6.8) and actually forming an academic relationship with my professors/other potential references.
in that same vein, i hope to really start building my resume this year since it’s the first time in a long time that i’ve had somewhat decent mental health. i hope to get more involved in both of my majors’ student unions and some other clubs off campus. i might also try and work in some volunteer hours between school and work.
i have several years to catch up with everyone else in these departments since you know... mental health issues.
in my personal life, i’m hoping to get more in shape.
i’d also like to actually find the time to indulge in my hobbies in between everything else if i can. specifically, i want to work my way through the dozens of unread novels i’ve bought and check out more hiking trails in my area.
overall i’m just hoping to finally achieve and healthy work-life balance this academic year, and start really building towards my goals :) it’s a lot of work, but i have confidence that i can do it!
about my studyblr
i’m hoping to finally take advantage of my studyblr account and the community here on tumblr to help me reach my goals.
i’ll be posting original content, with sprinkles of other people’s content, aesthetic photos, and news about my academic interests.
i’m also hoping to make some friends around my age and/or in similar programs to me on here so we can help motivate each other to achieve our goals :) if any other studyblrs 18+ ever wants to chat, my dms are open.
since i haven’t been super active on here for a while, many of the accounts i followed have cone inactive and i’m sure a lot of awesome new people have also made accounts! feel free to like/reblog this post and i’ll check you out!
if you actually read all of this ily, and have a great rest of you day/night <3

2020.11.24 | 1/100 days of productivity
it’s been an eternity since i’ve posted on here, but i think it’s about time that i try and get back into it. with my first term of online university wrapping up, i’ve found that it’s been really hard to stay on top of everything. maybe starting to use my studyblr again will help me get back on track for the end of this term, and the beginning of the next one in january.
today’s main goal is to finish up the readings i selected for my research paper on trade between greece and the near east. hopefully i’ll have enough time to get started on my first draft today as well. i procrastinated on this paper, so i don’t have nearly enough time as i would like. if all goes well, maybe me abs my adhd can work together to finish this assignment on time.

so thankful my work is giving me the entire week off for thanksgiving because i was definitely steadily moving towards burn out. not exactly sure what i’ll spend my “free week” doing, but !! i hope i can keep myself busy enough to be content, but free enough to get a little more relaxed hehe. also, i’ve been playing around with makeup for the first time in my life and wow !! what a journey LOL

i want to know: to touch her, is it sin? the men of god all tell me that i’ll burn not knowing they mean me and mean my god who offered up a sacrifice of blood. i’d make the sacrifice again for her, would let the crows come, have my eyes and mouth.
