“Why does your heart ache? Because you are holding onto something very tightly.” As you already know, I have fallen out of a relationship with someone about a year and a half ago.
While I have recently and actively chosen to move on from this relationship, the ME before wanted to hold on.
I held onto the belief that we would one day get back together again.
All the signs just seemed to suggest it.
We remained friends following the breakup, and the deep, genuine love and connection continued into our post-relationship conversations and visits.
I just KNEW a future was possible.
It just felt REAL.
What I didn’t know was that while I was holding on tightly to this hope of the future, I lost a great deal of focus in the daily happenings of my life: work, family, friends, self-care…the actually moving on stage following a breakup.
I forgot about…ME.
That’s when life reminded me that, Yup, I can’t just WILL things to happen to me.
Because often times they’ll come back with a slap to the face:
He told me he was seeing someone new.

Giving myself permission to paint whatever I was feeling. If you want to do art, you don’t have to “draw well.” You just have to feel “something.” Then let it “out.” 😊♥️

”I can help you smile again.”
One of my past boyfriends gifted me this panda bear when we were out at a fair. (I whooped his butt at a game, and the concession stand dude made him pay for the prize lol).
A few months later, we broke up and as much as I wanted to forget and move on from this relationship, I still loved him and the bear he had given me.
Our relationship was long distance, so holding this bear when we were away gave me a great sense of calm and peace. She fits in my arms just right, holding her little bum at the crook of my arm and her head at the palm of my hand.
I held her close to my chest–my heart space–nearly every night.
After the breakup, I still held my little friend for comfort and relief as I sorted through the deep suffering and pain from the loss I was experiencing from the breakup.
In my time of healing, I noticed my little bear had lost her smile: the thread pulled out from her small, white muzzle.
“How…fitting,” I thought.
I left her unsmiling for months.
It’s now July, about one and half years since my relationship ended.
With my heart feeling full of the love and life I once remembered from the many moments of solitude and self-healing, I can now help my little friend smile again. ^_^

Just Totoro holding his feet and enjoying the afternoon sun with his friends 😊 . A congratulatory gift for a dear friend. She officially walks as a doctor today! 😁So happy for her! I could have gone down the same path but Universe hit me upside my head during and after undergrad and told me to steer clear of anything medicine and, well, do art instead lol. I’m so happy she is doing what she’s doing it instead because I’m sure she’ll be an amazing doctor. 😊

To my ex...thank you. Most have already been said in my video to you on Youtube (https://youtu.be/32uhix1gR8A) but here it is again: Thank you for being the first to break down my walls, To accept my love when I found love in you. Thank you for bringing fun and nonsensical jokes to the relationship, To lighten up my world when I knew of only duty and obligation. And most importantly, Thank you for bringing my buried insecurities to light, Only for you to heal the wounds that carried them in your acceptance. Ex refers to the past, But my gratitude and love for you still lives in the present. We wanted very different things, And as lovers, we were not good for each other. But what we have now is good: Space, love, understanding. Qualities that all healthy “declared” relationships have. Isn’t that wonderful? The most difficult thing for me was to forgive myself...for breaking your heart. But I learned to do it because of my experience with you. So I’m happy that I met you when I did. Because I am closer to my self now because of you. Thank you. ♥️ — I never thought I’d write a letter of gratitude to an ex... Let alone let the whole world know. But for an experience that wasn’t all roses and daisies, this was very therapeutic and healing. 😊♥️ I know it’s not easy to forgive and love someone who have “done you wrong,” but doing so heals. It doesn’t have to happen immediately. You can hate them all you want for as long as you want. But when the time comes when the hate becomes too great, when it becomes too painful, love will heal the pain.

Not sure what the heck this is? No worries because, I’d have NO idea what this is if I didn’t draw it myself either lol! (Hint: It’s something very personal to me, as most of my art will be from now on...) But I promised myself I’d show a work in progress image every week to show you what I’ve been working on (and how things don’t just spontaneously look beautiful BAM! when I first draw anything). Honestly, I was so hesitant to show my work in progress for this piece (and I finished this picture wayyyy back in August!) because it really doesn’t look like anything solid. But in my soul, I knew what I wanted to portray. And that’s what truly matters. When you first start anything, you may not see any solid evidence of your progress. You may feel like you’re not getting ANYWHERE at all. But as messy and as unclear as things may seem at the start, you’re setting the foundation so you CAN see things clearer. You know, as you continue to move along. I know we all wish that beautiful things and beautiful dreams can come to fruition in an instant. But just like in drawing, you have to start somewhere to see things clearer. To see what works for you and what doesn’t. Things will get easier when you just put even a tiny little toe in the door. I promise. So take the first step. Put something down. Start anywhere. There’s really no right or wrong place or time to start. I learned this by typing a letter in this caption and posting a little art progress for the first time—in a long time. And here you are, still reading. I must have done something “right” then. Thank you so much for the support and I look forward to starting something new with you. Each and every day. ❤️ Pst...a speed paint & final drawing will arrive soon...😊

#Day1 A new reminder for the new year ❤️ Something that came to me as I was planning furiously for all my projects for 2018. I had a lot of things planned out: drawings, videos, blog posts. Then I remembered getting out of my seat and turning to my sister to say: “You know what? In the end, what I make doesn’t matter.” As soon as my sister opened her mouth to defend the importance my work, I continued: “What matters is ME. People will watch my videos because of me. People will buy my art because of me. They will ultimately support me because of ME. And I am enough.” And so are you. Happy New Year 2018 everyone! You are here. You are present. And Your Presence is Enough. ❤️ —- P.S. I’m totally getting into calligraphy. *insert crazy person furiously digging through pages of her sketchbook with calligraphy pen*

Time lapse video for my rose study yesterday. The nice thing about organic subjects is that their asymmetry and “imperfection” is what makes them beautiful. 😊🌹💐 #appreciatelife #appreciatethebeauty More drawing tips on this on Sunday on my second IG @fortheartistsoul ! Let me know if you want the full video too! I’ll put one up on YouTube 😊

Fruit studies today!!! I referenced ink drawings for these so I can't take all the credit for the original drawings. I'll look into observing the real deal next week. 😊 Also, thank you so much to all of you who are cheering me on and being patient with me as I practice my craft. I want to work on original ideas and concepts SO much, but I know this practice will only make my drawings better. 😊If I have more time, I'll try to do a second piece for the day (with all the feels ❤️)! Just caught up with #Inktober Days 3-4 with this so I'll be good to go! 😉 As requested by @ninjaassassin13, I'll be posting the #timelapsevideo as a regular IG post (so not just to my IG stories.) HOWEVER! For you wonderful artist followers, I will add my in-depth thought process, artistic observations, what I learned and critiques with the videos on my second IG account @fortheartistsoul, which is dedicated to solely to artists. On my @trulytuyet account, I'll be adding my own personal thoughts and flair for to my posts. You know, more ME. Lol It's been hard to manage both accounts but I'll do my best! "The simplest of things is often the most difficult to grasp. But once observed, it is a beauty to behold." Oh #eggs, they truly are magnificent when you really take a moment to see them for what they are. So simple in shape, yet so full of life. ❤️ (I mean, come on, we all came from them. Not the shelled one of course. The other one.) . EGGS ARE HARD. Seriously, a landscape is still easier to draw than an egg. I definitely will have to revisit this egg exercise later since I learned SOOO MUCH!! 😊(Notice my scribbled notes? Lol) On another note, just finished editing a video series on how to prepare for #Inktober as a beginner! https://youtu.be/bQzVy4dsFUU 😊 I know it's a bit late but I hope it'll help for any future art challenges and projects for any of you artists out there! #Inktober #inktober2017 Day 2: Eggs from my #beginnerinktober2017 calendar.
