Got my celery garden bed started!! I can fit approx 12 celery plants or maybe add some kale idk yet but im happy with the way it looks. I built this one is roughly 3 hours including plants. I made this bed for celery given that we juice celery almost every day and the price is going up. So this is my first ever raised Garden bed. I got the idea for it a few months ago and here it is a few weeks in and its looking beautiful. I built it and planted everything myself. I took a bunch of photos throughout the process so here are a few. In my garden I have early girl tomato, heirloom tomato, strawberries, italian leaf basil, red rubin basil, rosemary, heirloom russian kale, celery, red and yellow bell peppers, sweet banana peppers, radish, cucumber and of course a bunch of marigolds. Growing in pots I have more basil, peppermint, lemon balm, cayenne pepper, raspberries (which I have to transplant), 3 types of dianthus flowers, lavender, butterfly blue and coreopsis sunfire all for the bees! I also have 3 fruit trees growing in larger pots which are semi dwarf bearss lime, dwarf meyer lemon and dwarf honey babe peach. Last but not least I have a blueberry bush which is not shown in photos but believe me its producing delicious blueberries. I have many reasons for wanting to grow my own food such as there is nothing like being able to take a few steps out to my patio and harvesting fresh organic fruit, veggies and herbs, but one of the main reasons I did this is to be able to teach my daughter where the food on her plate actually comes from. I feel like my generation and the next is getting so out of touch with mother earth. We are forgetting where and how our food grows. It is all about the newest "phone" or "movie" or "tv show"!! I think it shouldnt be that way so I did something about it. I show my daughter her garden everyday, she touches the soil, feels the plants smells the flowers and picks off the blueberry bush and let me tell you...it is such an amazing feeling to see your baby pick off blueberries right off the bush and eat them just like that. It fills my heart with happiness and joy. Thank you mother earth for creating the perfect food for us. Beautiful Monarch butterfly found in my backyard all because we have milkweed. Did you know...monarch butterflies will only eat and lay their eggs on a milkweed plant?! They also keep coming back to it making it a beautiful sight to have this plant in your backyard. But be careful, it is slightly harmful to us.
