What if Uthers grief had gone in the complete opposite direction?

What if instead of turning against magic, banning it and killing any who uses it, he turned towards it.

Desperate to find a way to bring his queen back, just as she was, not a memory, not a shade, not a living dead.

Searching out and collecting stronger and stronger and increasingly darker and darker magic.

Still turning into the same half mad paranoid tyrant in the end.

Only now magic users, and everyone else too, fear and hate him for a whole different reason.

I wonder how it would affect Arthur? Merlin? The prophecy?

So, what if...

What if Merlin upon arriving in Camelot and witnessing an execution within 5 minutes of getting there...

What if Merlin had decided there and then that he was going to go underground. That he was going to use his magic to infiltrate the ranks of Camelot's knights in order to undermine Uther's rule from within and maybe even get the prince killed (because sword accidents, you understand...).

And what if Sir Merlin had actually grown to tolerate the arrogant prat. And maybe even sometimes found him not entirely hideous and detestable.

Arthur gets heavily injured in a battle and before anyone can react Merlin just up and carries Arthur bridal style to safety.

Leaving the knights of the round table and the bandits hella confused.

For Aithusa doodles, may I suggest Aithusa with her head stuck in a doughnut, or tangled up in a curtain she was hiding behind, or maybe trying to drag Excalibur off even though it's much bigger than her?

I'm no genetics expert but I have this idea/theory that Arthur and Gwen could have absolutely had kids that look almost exactly like Merlin and Lancelot!

Just; Arthurs pale skin and blue eyes + Gwens dark hair and curls = mini Merlin??!!

Mix their skin colors and hair texture + Gwens dark eyes and hair = mini Lancelot!!

Imagine all the confusion it would cause! 😂😂

Your GORGEOUS Merlin fanart has reawakened my merlin obsession. My mind has been in OVER DRIVE. My fave plot bunny I've been pondering thus far after you launched me back into the fandom is an AU where Merlin's magic is discovered so obviously he flees Camelot, meaning OBVIOUSLY Arthur goes after him. Except that's not what Camelot thinks happened. What everyone else DOES think is that the evil sorcerer Merlin kidnapped their crown prince and is now holding him hostage, resulting in a slew of knights embarking on a 'rescue' mission to save Arthur from Merlin's evil clutches. Basically, this is just an excuse to subvert the damsel(Arthur) locked away in a tower guarded by a dragon(Merlin) au. Your art has literally inspired me soo much it's absolutely crazy. You've sparked a creative fire within me!!! ✨🔥
