My thoughts lay serene, shrouded, indecipherable.
Blanketed in sorrow, sleep will embrace, but rest evade.
I will wake ever weighted as before.

Losst
They walk an endless dusty plain,
Drifting, wandering, searching.
The plain can be veiled or radiant,
Ever swirling, shifting, changing.
Once inside they never leave,
Forever losing, living, dying.
Trapped inside the trembling mind,
Only adrift, astray, and lost.

Past in the pavement
Beneath my feet is a sidewalk.
The sidewalk is warm in the sun.
Dust between my toes carrying with it memories from before.
The sidewalk is now a path.
The path is warm in the sun.
Dust and now gravel too, beneath my toes.
Blue sky. Bright clouds. Warm air. Laughter.
Ache. In my chest.
Back on the sidewalk.
The sidewalk is cold. Not from clouds. Not from rain.
Wind. Blows my hair.
Memory lived. Memory gone.

Stolen Away
Where is the justice in stealing bird's wings,
Where is the music of bells that don't ring.
Where is the freedom in journey untraveled,
Where is the mystery of story unraveled.
Why have joy if it turns to pain,
Why speak if words can't be named.
Why continue through darkest of woods,
Why fight suffering that cant be withstood.
What is the point,
What are the words,
What are the songs of the now captured birds.
You clipped my wings,
You silenced my songs,
You shrouded my road,
My story untold.
Now I fall through endless sky,
Now I breath the endless night.
I run, I scream, I battle my way,
Trying to find light that you've stolen away.

Always Remembered
I sit here
Contemplating
Why things would become so beautiful
Only to leave me behind
I sit here
Wondering
Why this ending must be mine
I sit here
Thinking
On things that came before
Of summer sun and games so fun
Cares tossed away as we joined the fray
Of something larger then ourselves
I sit here
And remember
Those closest friends I made
Bonds forged in fire through work and tire
As we toiled through the day
I lay here
Crying
Not knowing when we'll meet again
Could it be our heart's home is right around the bend?
I lay here
Staring
Up at an endless sky
The smallest hope but a shadow of dream
Still lives here inside of me
Even if they're gone for good
Lost to time
But never forgotten
Our sacred brotherhood
I lay here
Knowing
Endings are beautiful things
We have the pain and tears
Because of the meaning that it brings
Though the sorrow chase the morrow
We must all sit and remember
What we had was worth the pain
What we went through on memory lane
Never forgotten
Always treasured
A piece of life that lives forever

Why can't I get you out of mind,
Behind every sight, sound or feeling.
Why can't I puzzle where you are,
To have you here, laughing, smiling.
I find myself sitting, now thinking, of you.
Endlessly, thoughtlessly, pointlessly.
I wish you knew.
But you can't know.
