One line in and I was hooked on how you write Sandy. He's exhausted but he always has one more sidekick-esque quip in him.

Their eyes meet again, a silent ‘stop living in the what if’s’ is held between them.

I love this theme for SandWave. They've been through so much alone and maybe if Sandy was there- or maybe if Syl hadn't died- or maybe if Hank had been able to step up and take over Infinity inc.- They really just have to find a way to make peace with the past and move forward into a happier and safer place.

“Do you, like, know when the premonition feeling about something is done? Do I have to worry that more stuff is going to happen?” (Hank) “Is this really the best time to be having this conversation?” (Sandy) “When do we ever cross paths, Sandy? Just tell me so I can at least stop worrying about the what if’s, then I’ll let you go.” (Hank)

I also love to see Sandy being avoidant. It happens a few more times, it's amazing. And I honestly could pull so many more things to talk about from this, but I might end up copy and pasting the whole thing and I think people should just go read it. Also, the romantic moments at the end are well crafted and so sweet. I love this story! You make amazing SandWave stuff, I'm excited to see SandSyl being incorporated (no pun intended).

My thoughts process on the sequencing of when each Saja boy became a demon

This might be controversial but I have my reasoning.

I think that Mystery (hc: Minhwan) is actually the oldest chronologically, brought down before Jinu or anyone else. I think this simply bc of his name, he’s a mystery. He hasn’t told anyone his story besides Gwi-Ma knowing it through his manipulations, but I have smth to add on to this.

I think his deal had something to do with people knowing everything about him, he wanted to become unknown and just left alone, and that deal actually followed him into the demon realm, meaning even Gwi-Ma’s own spells can effect himself. Every now and again he has to sit there to remember anything about Mystery, ultimately he doesn’t have to worry bc he has control over him through his markings.

Next on the list is Jinu, obvi. He and Mystery didn’t get to know each other, the older still preferring to be alone even in half life.

Next is actually Abby (hc:Ahn-Byun)! What I took from what screen time he had he was usually awfully close to Jinu, so I think not long after Jinu he came down and Jinu saw potential in Abby’s ability to follow and they became fast allies. (And maybe some more)

Next is Romance (hc:Ryomeo) then Baby (hc:Beom).

This quickly became a gush theories about Mystery post but ah fuck it, it was fun.

Okay more KPDH discussion and thoughts

Okay so I’m still thinking ab the logistics of how stuff works but originally in my head nearly each generation has successfully made a golden Honmoon but like it needs to be maintained just like the blue Honmoon, and when they start faltering bc every music group has their ‘golden era’ of popularity, it fades to blue again.

So my logic is that each time they achieved gold they would starve out the demons and Gwi-Ma for a solid number of years, dwindling their numbers each time and still consistently maintaining blue afterwords while fighting.

I feel the only thing that can actually destroy a demon is Gwi-Ma’s flames like that flight attendant demon and Jinu, and I think he eats them like that too.

Each generation Gwi-Ma’s eaten into his numbers during a golden Honmoon and with the super success of Huntrix if they turned the Honmoon gold there’s no doubt they would’ve successfully kept it gold long enough to the point Gwi-Ma would actually have to eat the rest of his demons to simply stay alive, and possibly finally dwindle out into embers.

Furthermore, my thoughts on whether when the Huntrix’s weapons actually destroy a demon full stop or not, I don’t think they do, I think they do destroy the physical body but ultimately the demon themselves rematerialise in the demon realm bc they do belong to Gwi-Ma, so I do think the Saja Boys are actually still ‘alive’ down there, at least the ones we saw poofed, Mystery and Abby.

Anyone else have any similar thoughts?

Saja boy theories and assumptions

Okay I haven’t looked at any of the concept stuff so maybe there’s already notes out there that cover this but I’m going to make some theories on what the Saja Boys made deals for during their human lives.

This will be based on the deal Jinu made, wanting a better life through his voice.

First off, I think Abby wanted to be stronger, very basic, I know, but strength and vanity is quite literally all we have to go off of with him.

Next basic one, Romance wanted the love of another, which never goes well.

Now going off of the role they play in the group, something has me thinking Baby was a poet. Perhaps he was a bad one while alive, made the deal and then his given talent continued to follow him as a demon.

I’m going to be honest I have no clue what Mystery’s could be lol.

My reasoning of the roles they took on in the Saja Boys are influenced by their deals and whatever Gwi-Ma gave them follows them around, like Jinu’s given voice.

Spoilers for K-Pop Demon Hunters ahead, discussion of the Honmoon and how I think things have happened, theories about Rumi’s parents, the Saja Boys, and why I like the slightly open ending and unanswered questions.

Okay, we know the basics of the Honmoon, it acts as a barrier between mortal and demon realm, for that. It can be different colours:

Blue: actively working, between perfect and breaking, keeps most strong demons out, some can slip through. Gwi-Ma seems incapable of passing thru when it’s blue.

Gold: the ‘perfect and ideal’ Honmoon, is so effective that no demons can pass, and communication between Gwi-Ma and any demons still in the mortal realm is cut off. This is what all the huntresses work towards, and it appears once they reach this point, the only goal afterwards is to maintain it with regular music performances.

Red: unstable, breaking, weak. Any and all demons can come through as they please, hell could break loose at any moment.

The current Honmoon is a combination of these colours in Huntrix’s new formation of the Honmoon, what does this mean?

I theorise this new Honmoon is nowhere near the perfect Golden Honmoon, but is far easier to maintain, resulting on less stress to the Huntrix as they will maintain it until the next generation. Weak points and stable points migrating like an immune system almost. This does in fact leave them open for more demon centred stories should the studio allow for either a second movie or a spin off of sorts.

Now, my further speculation regarding the Honmoon of Celine’s era.

I believe that Rumi’s parents had been secretly eyeing each other and didn’t make a move until after they achieved the Golden Honmoon, effectively cutting her dad off from Gwi-Ma so they could actually have a relationship without the demon king in his head and looking through his eyes. Rumi was conceived at this point and she was born within their era of gold, but her mother died soon after.

With us knowing the Honmoon needs to be maintained through Rumi’s line that the idol awards gives it a boost, inferring it needs consistent charging, when the huntresses lose a member, they cannot maintain it any longer. Soon enough, the gold fades to blue, and then the blue slowly gets weaker. I think it’s safe to speculate that two huntresses can maintain a Blue Honmoon but it’s remarkably harder to do, especially when grieving the loss of Rumi’s mother.

With the gold fading and Rumi’s mother dying, we can speculate that her father was soon being manipulated by Gwi-Ma, and it’s safe to say his fate was either one of two things:

Gwi-Ma yanked him down to the demon realm and punished/is punishing him

Celine and the other huntress discovered him and killed him

We don’t get clarification on how Rumi’s mother died, but we know she died when Rumi would still be considered a baby, so I don’t think she died in childbirth. Do I think Rumi’s father was involved in her death? It’s very likely. Could one speculate his punishment by Gwi-Ma was being forced to kill her? I think there’s wriggle room to theorise, which makes this all the more fun!

I do appreciate that even if the studio doesn’t green light an extension on the series that we have so many questions and lose ends to play with in the meantime because, guys, this movie was cooking for nine years, there’s simply no way the creators weren’t also playing around with what would happen after the fact with a soft closed ending like that. A story in development for this long, there are most definitely answers to all our questions written in notes and margins to explain why things happened the way they did.

There is also the fun thing of us only seeing the on screen deaths of Abby, Mystery and Jinu*, but not Romance and Baby. It’s possible that these demons who probably also had a selfish stake in doing this work for Gwi-Ma, their deals made offscreen, saw an opportunity where the king who had been lording over them so cruelly was distracted and so were the Huntrix. Maybe they ran off, maybe they’re living a life in South Korea now, whether they’re adapting or not would be up for discussion. But for those fans who wanted more insight on the Saja Boys this could be the opportunity to play around.

Neither of them seemed to actually care all that much about the mortal world besides feeding off souls, least of all Baby who literally didn’t interact with any of the Huntrix girls, and Romance’s flirting with Mira was more than likely him ‘playing with his food’ in a way, an act to annoy her.

Who are they outside of Saja Boys, who are they outside of Gwi-Ma’s control, what would they have to gain by doing all of this, what are their stories?

We could theorise that all the demons in this universe were once human, with Gwi-Ma controlling them through shame patterns, but what makes the more monstrous ones different from the type the Saja Boys are? Now I know in Korean culture and mythology the undead these guys are are actually a different type altogether but the movie has clearly lumped all demons and undead together probably to save on time and worldbuilding.

*guys I’m in the same boat as most everyone else that Jinu technically isn’t dead bc his soul is in Rumi’s now but if he was able to communicate with her in any way they would’ve put that in the movie I’m thinking he’s basically completely dormant and sleeping in there nestled next to her soul.

I’m legit already in mourning for the Tommy tag when that next show he’s supposed to be in comes out the tag is going to be so damned rancid and I’m dreading how awfully they’ll characterise him. God I wish this shit ended after endgame bc it’s making being in the comics part of the fandom hell and it’s not even good. I miss when hero movies and shows were good.

H: Do they like hugs? How often do they do it? What are their hugs like?

Hank is the king of being touch starved, so of course he loves hugs, platonic or romantic. He’s a good boy so he doesn’t hug without permission or unless someone hugs him first. When he’s the one initiating the hug, it’s slow and tentative. He doesn’t want to hurt you (even though he has like zero muscle. He’s an overthinker). When you respond positively, however, he quickly tightens it. Maybe he even cries a little if it’s been long enough since he last had one.

A: How affectionate are they? How do they show affection?

When he loves, he loves hard. Hank is the type of guy that hates PDA (he’s easily embarrassed) but behind closed doors would take every opportunity to hold or cuddle you. He’s also big into quality time and acts of service.

N: How are nights spent with them?

Cuddles cuddles cuddles cuddles cuddles! He has to be holding you when you two get ready for bed. Sometimes, when you’re asleep and having a nightmare, Hank might go in your head and make it go away. This is the only time he would use his telepathy without permission on purpose.

K: What are their kisses like? Where do they like to kiss you? Where do they like to be kissed?

Hank likes kissing your head, hands, and tummy. He likes to have his neck, back, and head kissed. His kisses are often soft, quick, and chaste as he tries to make you feel as loved as possible.

Oh I forgot to add in this post the other reason why I named Robin the way I did. I mentioned the small and precious for Prim and the birds for her parents but also I had Rue very heavily in mind when naming her. I was so desperate to keep the R sound in there and that’s why I stuck with Robin alongside the folk tale meaning of the bird.

Prompt from this post. I went with sandwave. This is two months late, I'm sorry.

Wind howled past the loosely rattling windows of Sand’s cabin. Cold air seeped in through the rotted wood frames and worn seals of the old windows; through the uneven back door that didn’t quite sit on its frame right; and through the tears in the roof, which Sandy had barely patched when he first returned to the cabin in the fall. The heater was conveniently out too. 

When the sunny evenings and the lush forestry of spring surrounding his cabin returned, Sand would fix all these things. For the winter though, Sand stocked up on fire wood and wrapped Hank and himself in blankets. 

In the first snowfall, Sand realized this was a mistake. The fire burned bright but added little heat to the room. The blankets only held up until the moment one of them had to get up for the bathroom, then they had to restart the process of collecting body heat. The only saving grace was Hank’s attempt to trap any heat they could into a psychic bubble around the pair. 

The couch was shoved close to the fireplace. Both sat in many layers of blankets, Hank curled into Sand’s arms. Sand stared at the fire, quickly burning through wood, with disdain. 

‘Maybe if it stops snowing tomorrow I can get up in the attic and see what killed the heating,’ Sand thought to himself. This was his third time mapping out a game plan to fix the cold. He found it wildly irresponsible to drag Hank out here just for the cabin to fall apart in the first blizzard. 

“You’re so warm,” Hank said, breaking Sand’s train of thought. He smiled back at Sand. 

“You’re warm right now?” Sand asked. He found it hard to believe in a room this cold. 

“Warm and comfortable,” Hank reassured him, “This place is every bit as cozy as you described it. I can’t wait to make it our home.” 

Sand returned the smile, then looked back at the fire. It flickered in its cove of dull brown bricks, doing its best to provide warmth to the room.
