Ukraine was the center of the first eastern Slavic state, Kyivan Rus, which during the 10th and 11th centuries was the largest and most powerful state in Europe. Weakened by internecine quarrels and Mongol invasions, Kyivan Rus was incorporated into the Grand Duchy of Lithuania and eventually into the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth. The cultural and religious legacy of Kyivan Rus laid the foundation for Ukrainian nationalism through subsequent centuries. A new Ukrainian state, the Cossack Hetmanate, was established during the mid-17th century after an uprising against the Poles. Despite continuous Muscovite pressure, the Hetmanate managed to remain autonomous for well over 100 years. During the latter part of the 18th century, most Ukrainian ethnographic territory was absorbed by the Russian Empire. Following the collapse of czarist Russia in 1917, Ukraine achieved a short-lived period of independence (1917-20), but was reconquered and endured a brutal Soviet rule that engineered two forced famines (1921-22 and 1932-33) in which over 8 million died. MCI's Eligibility Certificate not mandatory to study MBBS abroad

It's good news to those who prefer to study MBBS abroad. Yes, previously, there was a need of eligibility certificate provided by the MCI (Medical Council of India) which was mandatory to be submitted during admissions.

But now, the eligibility certificate is not mandatory! However, they have to fill the eligibility criteria as per the Graduate Medical Education Regulation Act 1997. The decision was announced by the government for students who want to study MBBS abroad. It will take several months to obtain eligibility certificate from Medical Council of India. Before issuing this certificate, MCI will check student age and educational qualification by obtaining data from Board of Intermediate Education. It came into notice that, in order to avoid the long process of verification, students prefer approaching agents to get it done quite faster. The students who take admissions directly without any eligibility certificate have to go through a screening test. This test is mandatory to do a practice in India. Today, majority of students prefer studying MBA abroad because of two reasons; shortage of MBBS seats in Andhra Pradesh and cost of MBBS course is low in abroad, when compared to India.   According to the source, maximum cost to study MBBS in countries like Philippines, Central America, Russia, China is less than Rs. 30 lakhs. But in Andhra Pradesh, it costs Rs. 80 lakhs for a MBBS seat in management quota, as a donation.   Andhra Pradesh, has a total of around 6200 MBBS seats for which, nearly 1 lakh candidates are appearing in EAMCET examination. And the overall cost of MBBS in Andhra Pradesh is Rs. 1.5 crores. Well, this is a very tough competition. Hence, considering all the issues that candidates are facing to get an MBBS seat, MCI has ceased the norms for pursuing MBBS abroad. Doctoral degrees in Ukraine Doctoral degrees in Ukraine At doctoral level Ukraine has a two-degree system. The first qualification is the Candidate of Sciences(scientific degree of Kandidat Nauk) which normally requires at least three years of study after the award of the Specialist or the Master diploma and is achieved by submitting and defending a thesis (dissertation), as well as following post-graduate studies (aspirantura) in the specialist field. The second qualification is the Doctor of Sciences (scientific degree of Doktor Nauk), the highest degree in Ukraine which is achieved by dissertation that must make an original contribution to a given field of learning, and after a period of further studies (doktorantura) following the award of Kandidat Nauk degree. Doctoral study programmes (post-graduate course, aspirantura – for Kandidat Nauk degree and doctoral course, doktorantura – for Doktor Nauk degree) can be opened in higher education institutions of the third and fourth levels of accreditation or in research institutes and their branches.
