Influence. A popular word in the genz era and obviously with lots of bad impressions but what about the time when butterscotch became your go to ice cream flavour just because your mom loved it, spiderman became your comfort movie because that's your brother's favourite marvel adaptation, reading became your favourite hobby because that's one of your dad's favourite activity to pass time, hoop earrings became your favourite jewelry because your favourite actress wears it all the time, started learning crocheting just because a random girl on the internet told that it reminds her of her grandma and what about the time when Alfredo pasta became your go to takeout order because it was your first love's favourite food.

It only took a couple hours and a few kilometres to go from being sick of home to homesick, to understand it's always about the people and not the place, to appreciate home cooked meals than late night takeouts, to remember to call your grandparents when you look at an old couple walking together holding hands, to reminisce the memories of growing up when seeing kids getting out of the yellow bus waving bye and trying to remember the smell of your childhood bedroom when you are at your shared apartment with your new friends, to realise the fact that your siblings won't barge into your room to annoy you anymore. Life goes on, even quickly but home is what these moments mean to us.

It hit hard when Ari said "I wondered where he'd learned to draw. I was suddenly jealous of him. He could swim, he could draw, he could talk to people. He read poetry and he liked himself. I wondered how that felt, to really like yourself. And i wondered why some people didn't like themselves and others did. Maybe that's just the way it was."

I got to thinking that poems were like people. Some people you got right off the bat. Some people you just didn't get and never wouldn't get.

In a world where there is so much to grieve and so little good to take?
I grieve nothing. I take everything.

I wish someone had told me that love isn't torture. Because i thought love was this thing that was supposed to tear you in two and leave you heartbroken and make your heart race in the worst way. I thought love was bombs and tears and blood. I didn't know it was supposed to take only the kind of work that makes you softer. I thought love was war. I didn't know it was supposed to be peace.

"Memory's funny, isn't it? We remember some things out of nowhere, but so much of what happens, we never think about again."
"That's true"
"And if that's true, what's memory anyway? I mean, there are way too many things you'll never remember. Sometimes a memory jumps out at you, even though almost everything is lost forever. But what if all the things that we can't remember are actually the most important ones?"

Everything happens for a reason" I hear this everywhere. It depends on the people who are viewing the situation that happened/happening the front of them. If that person is optimistic, he/she would say "I'm destined to something unknown and these are the stepping stones for it or this means that i should change the direction" but not everyone thinks that way or not every situation requires this belief. So is this phrase an illusion to make ourselves feel better or does everything happen for a reason for real?

Should I believe in fate? I don't have an answer yet because I was always skeptical about this. I believe it's about the choices that we make at the moment and that decides the path of our life to move forward but my best friend argues that the choices we make are indeed because of fate. I couldn't agree with her even though it makes sense but then today I was watching a series where a character said "You are free from both the past and the future. Nothing is written on a stone.Fate is a lie" and i felt like it's an illusion we created so that we can use it as an excuse when things don't go according to our plan.

Do we really know who we are? Or will we get to know eventually, maybe at the end of our life? My answer is no. As humans, our brains are wired to evolve but we believe we can't because the changes we are trying to make are often due to conscious efforts but zoom out are we the same person 5 years ago? a year ago? a week ago? or even a day before? So we'll never know who we are because our life is a collection of unexpected events but we know what we are because it's the choices. As one of the mysteries of the universe, we are also a mystery within.

I crave love so badly but i couldn't find the one for me. I've been searching for it my whole life but even the platonic ones are not real. What happened to people? Where's true love gone? Where's genuineness and kindness? Where's understanding and caring? They say, "if you love yourself enough, you don't need external validation that someone loves you". Okay sure self love is important and being selfish is good but to what extent. Are we a part of humanity if we don't find real genuine connections? No matter if it's platonic or romantic, everyone needs love. Period. And finding the right ones is hard but never give up on love, not yet. They may be one step away or 1000 miles away but never stop searching until you find it and don't look only for romantic loves because platonic loves are as important as romantic ones.

I was reading radio silence by Alice oseman and suddenly few questions popped up in my head.
"Can a person be friends/fell in love with a person only because they have similar interests/tastes that they are into?"
"Can we not be compatible with the person who disagrees with us, who has different perspectives and hence different opinions?"
