We’ve all agreed that Aziraphale dresses to broadcast a friendly appearance. But I’m here to argue that’s only a secondary reason for the colors he chooses for his outfits.

The more I look at Aziraphale’s outfits, the more I just see the deuteranopia visual spectrum. I’m not saying whether or not Crowley actually is colorblind, but I am definitely saying that Aziraphale knows snakes to be dichromatic, and dresses specifically so that he knows his outfits appear the same to him as they do to Crowley. Crowley’s eyes are anatomically those of a snake, so that’s a logical conclusion for Aziraphale to make.

i always think about that study where they had adults hold a baby, and when they were told the baby was a girl the adults said she was cute and small, and when they were told the baby was a boy they said he was big and strong. they rated the baby’s ability to do things and tendency towards certain toys differently. they even held the baby differently. (x) or when they rated the baby’s physical ability to do various tasks such as climbing up a slope differently, (x) & when they measured how much parents told their girl children vs. their boy children to be careful and stop being so rowdy (x), & when they measured how often girls and boys were told to be quiet. (x) this was, obviously, all unconscious behavior in the adults. they’re not all like, raving sexists who outspokenly believe that women can’t do stuff or that girls really should just be quieter, be more still than boys. like its not even counting the direct, actual messages, its just literally how every single person in your entire life treats you, and if asked they would probably deny that its even because you’re a girl. how the fuck am i supposed to believe this doesn’t affect a child’s development when its literally constant throughout the entire process

You don’t have to have been ‘made stronger’ by your trauma. You don’t have to see it as character building, You don’t have to listen to anyone who implies you should be grateful for your trauma, or that it shaped or strengthened you as a person.

I think that there’s some kind of mindset in a lot of creative communities (authors, artists, musicians) that your work needs to be groundbreaking and thought-provoking for it to matter. That in order for it to be considered worthy of its medium, it must have a greater purpose.
And if you ask me, its bullshit.
God, it puts so much stress on a creator to have to be important to someone else. I have seen so many people give up because their work isn’t making a statement, that it’s ‘fluff but no substance.’ As though there’s only room for so many people in a community of creators that only people with a point can get in.
If it made someone laugh, it’s important.
If it made someone smile, it’s important.
If someone looks back on it fondly, even for a moment, it’s important.
If you enjoyed making it, even if you never shared it, it’s important.
Sing songs about your cat, draw pictures of lizards eating popsicles, and write a series of novels about time-traveling alpaca.
The world is already full of super-important stuff. Write fluff.

Mental Crop Rotation
When farmers grow the same crop too many years in a row, it can leave their soil depleted of minerals and other nutrients that are vital to the health of their fields.
To avoid this, farmers will often alternate the crops that they grow because some plants will use up different minerals (such as nitrogen) while other plants replenish those minerals. This process is known as “crop rotation.”
So the next time you find that you need to step away from a project to work on something else for a while, don’t beat yourself up for “quitting” that project. Give yourself permission to practice “mental crop rotation” to maintain a healthy brain field.
Because I’ve found that when that unnecessary guilt and pressure are removed from the process, a good mental crop rotation can help you feel more energized and invigorated than ever once you’re ready to rotate back to that project.

Anyone else constantly on edge because we are in the final stages of late capitalism and these next couple of decades are gonna be make or break for the western world, and this just happens to coincide with the part of my life where I’m supposed to make something of myself :/

I HATE the phrase “give 110%!” cuz like thats not mathematically possible. 100% is all I have. If I exceed your expectations then you have simply underestimated me

i think this is a really important thing, but if you hate yourself or want to die, i also think it’s important to acknowledge that shit instead of just repressing it. but maybe make a point of saying “i’m venting now” or “i’m going to try to work on my feelings regarding this now” instead of being casual and jokey about it. i know sometimes it’s easier to act like it’s not serious, but that makes your mind think it’s a normal way to feel and that it’s not damaging to your well-being. that’s not good.
I keep telling y’all this and y’all refuse to listen

this^^ why do people think that empty gestures and futile actions in the name of “helping the earth” are more important than the actual lives of disabled people?? if you wanna help the earth, do something that actually matters, like dismantling capitalism and corporate greed instead of harassing disabled people for trying to stay alive.
there is medical waste. there is a lot of medical waste. there may always be an abundance of medical waste no matter what we do. but the astronomical focus on individual single use medical plastics as the #1 source of pollution needing addressing is ableism. medicine has waste and it may always have waste. it needs to be the absolute last thing focused on in terms of waste because lives rely on it.
sick and disabled people are often forced to use single use plastics to stay alive. to pollute to stay alive. there is a ton of waste for treatments and procedures that many people have very regularly. IV bags and wrappers and redundant packaging to ensure sterility. medical tools are often single use. whether or not alternatives exist for some of them for some people is irrelevant to the fact that society would prefer to make millions of sick and disabled people feel like shit for trying to stay alive and endanger their lives instead of addressing the few CEOs who are purposely polluting the planet for profit.

I feel strong somehow, in my hoodie, bomber jacket and wide legged jeans.
Unstoppable and unapologetically myself.
I feel the heavy presence of those who lived before me, their charisma in my spine, keeping my back straight and my head held high.
I feel the power in legacy.
