Rogue, Gambit, Jubilee and Nightcrawler train the young mutants on the makeshift obstacle course. They play the game of 'Capture the Flag' with Nightcrawler holding the belt as the 'flag'.

The kids have their own tragic backstories to tell through the pages:

Jitter was bullied in school for being the first to answer the questions in class. As she had been beaten by the bullies, Jitter used her powers to get back and in the process disabling one of her tormentors.

Ransom is born with a missing heart (the black hole) and because of this, it was apparent from birth that he is a mutant. His parents then abandoned him when he got kidnapped. It seems his black hole can absorb materials and it makes him stronger.

Calico tells her own backstory where she came from a rich and sheltered life. Her mother who raised her in isolation without any interaction from the outside world. Calico has a warped notion about what love is and was psychologically abused by her mother all her life. Calico's only friend is her horse, Ember. When her mansion burned down, Calico left her home with her horse for the first time.

Deathdream was a mutant born in Kyoto, Japan. He died four times on the day of his birth; his mutant power activating at some point along the way, and allowing him to revive himself. Months after his mother died, Deathdream's power enabled him to talk to her, and she told him the story of his arrival.

As a Singaporean, my only issue with Jitter's backstory is the inaccuracy of the Singaporean school where the teacher and the students speak Malay language in class. In many Singaporean schools, the people speak in different languages (though they mostly speak English) depending on their race. While most of the lessons (science, math...etc) are spoken in English, the students are taught in different languages like Chinese, Malay or Tamil on Second Language class depending on which language the child or parent chooses. If Jitter's Second Language class is taught in Malay, then the teacher would be wearing a Tudong (the Malay version of the headscarf worn by Muslims) instead of leaving her head uncovered for a Malay teacher. Also, Jitter's classmates look more Chinese instead of a mix of Malay students and Chinese students. Though the only accurate part about the Singaporean school portrayed in the comic is the competitive nature of the Singaporeans.

As they climb into the X-Jet, the mutants - Wolverine, Nightcrawler and Laura Kinney get a distress signal from a data center in Arizona. Upon reaching the data center, they find out that somebody had massacred the workers. Then, Wolverine and Laura find those assailants who attacked the place are Donald Pierce, Cyber, Lady Deathstrike and Constrictor. There is something off about those assailants when they are possessed by the Adamantine entity. Even though Wolverine and Laura knock them down, the possessed attackers still get up. These Adamantine-possessed villains are under the spell by...Romulus, the nobody's favorite arch-villain of Wolverine.

I really hate Romulus. He's nothing but an overcomplicated walking edgelord retcon who/which made Wolverine comic too unreadable that I don't want to talk about it. Every time I see Romulus in any Wolverine comic, I feel like channeling Linkara and burn the comic.

Kitty Pryde and her friend are watching the ball game at the high school stadium when she gets a telepathic message from Emma Frost who's been bothering her for choosing mundane life over mutant affairs. At the side of the stadium, the mutant kid who changes skin colors is sitting quietly and listening to music when the boys bully him for his appearance. The young mutant who changes skin colors is Alex Luna, he has the power to influence the emotions of those around him and his skin color changes accordingly.

The situation escalates further when the bullies continue to disturb Alex Luna even though he is trying to watch the game in peace. Then, his friend, Thao Tran witnesses the bullying and being a mutant herself, she decided to intervene, but she escalated the situation. Thao Tran has both invisibility and intangibility but she has little control over her powers. As the brawl happens, Kitty Pryde had to intervene by taking the two mutant kids to the bottom part of the spectator stand. Kitty Pryde scolds the two mutant kids for drawing attention to themselves with their powers. Thao Tran tries to leave in a huff but she gets stuck in a pillar, needing another assistance from Kitty Pryde. Even though the dispute is settled, the ball game is forcibly cancelled, disappointing many players and viewers.

Laura Kinney and her friends are going to the Dazzler concert when the former (Laura) sees someone familiar. It's Local, the mutant technopath minion of Mojo. Local wants Laura/"Scratch" to follow him (though he doesn't know that "Scratch" is actually Laura Kinney doing her undercover work) into the room while her friends must stay outside and mind their own business. As Laura's friends insist on following them, Local (under Mojo's control) is working on another scheme - Local using his technopath abilities to insert subliminal frequencies in all of the Dazzler concert recordings. Laura Kinney, Kamala Khan and Prodigy follow Local to the recording room while Anole and Sophie Cuckoo stay behind to watch over the concert for any sign of danger.

Laura, Kamala and Prodigy find Local in the recording room where they try talking him out from disrupting the concert. However, Mojo has taken in full control of Local that he zaps Laura while the tentacles snare Kamala and Prodigy. Meanwhile at the concert, Sophie and Anole are trying to tell the concertgoers not to look at Mojo on the screen but it doesn't work as the crowd are too hypnotized to listen to them. Everyone seems to be doomed until a mysterious girl arrives to save the day with her time manipulation powers. Laura Kinney looks up and recognizes the girl as Kiden Nixon, the old friend from a run-down neighborhood at New York City. Seriously, there are way many freaking superpowered people in New York! Anyway, Laura cries in tears of joy as she hugs Kiden in a reunion. Then, Laura and Kiden depart the place, leaving Prodigy and Kamala confused. Also, Local had fled the scene. In the end, the Dazzler Show eventually goes on as well as Anole, Kamala, Sophie and Prodigy watch the concert.

Just as Dwayne Taylor was supposed to discuss with his colleague about shutting down Taylor Foundation company, he sees a group of kids running off with stolen goods from a robbery spree. Dwayne tries to take down one of the kids but fails to stop him and he is nearly arrested by the police. Even though things were cleared up by his colleague, the police were still suspicious of Dwayne but they let him go. Then, Dwayne goes to the safehouse to put on his Night Thrasher armor and just before he could do that, Silhouette talks to him. And a shot of the old New Warriors photo makes me sad.

Later that night, Dwayne Taylor (now in Night Thrasher armor) comes out to look for the little robbers and he finds them congregating in the sewers. Unfortunately, Dwayne gets ambushed by a muscular man who calls himself O.G. and fights him. Dwayne fights him to a stand-still until he unmasks O.G. and it turns out that O.G. is Elvin Haliday, a.k.a Rage all along! Elvin Haliday has apparently turned bad because he is angry with Dwayne for leaving him and his friends for unspecified reasons. Elvin beats Dwayne up to unconsciousness and orders for him to be taken outside.

Even though I don't like the idea of Elvin turning bad, I can't blame him for that since the New Warriors had been screwed over in the recent years. Rage had been through a lot of misfortune like losing Dwayne in Civil War (though he came back from the dead a few years later), his New Warriors team getting slandered a lot, arrested and thrown into prison to get beaten to near-death by inmates in Nick Spencer's Captain America: Sam Wilson comic, being venomized and poisonized to near-mindlessness in Venomized storyline, and lastly, that Outlawed fiasco for the New Warriors. So I can't blame him for being angry with the world. Though I believe that Elvin Haliday may be brainwashed here.
