This track is a bit different than what I usually post, but it's awesome none the less! I'm really into following vloggers (video bloggers) on YouTube, and one of the people I follow is a very talented musician. He plays drums, guitar, keyboard, sings, and much more! If you're interested, the YouTube channel for his vlog is Youtube.com/GradLife. Check out Justin Speeds song! (Justin Speed, "Zawarudo")

These guys are actually one of my favorite bands right now. Just the sincerity of their lyrics and simplicity of their melodies keeps me coming back! Add on top of that a British accented vocalist, and I'm hooked! Check them out! (Likely Lads, "Far Too Late")

The Future.
I haven't posted in a while. I sort of lost interest in the whole thing but I have gotten requests to post more frequently, so I'll give this "blog" mumbo jumbo another shot I guess.

I've learned over the past few years that Warrenton, Virginia is a small town up north that is just bursting with young talent. These guys in particular have an extraordinary skill at writing chord progressions and unique percussion pieces, not to mention the seamless lyrical flow! Check these Virginia boys out!

This group does an especially great job of incorporating teenage whiny vocals with dragged out power chords and overwhelming drums into a poppy sort of sound. The only band I can think to compare them to is early We The Kings! Make sure you check out their track 'What I'm About'.

I long searched for a band that could take RHCP's style and turn it into something more punk based and these guys did it! Check out the track 'Distanthia' and you'll see exactly what I'm talking about. Repeating simple chorus, catchy lead guitar riffs, ever present bass, and trappish sounding drum fills make for a great listen!

This is another great Virginia group, and with the cheeky song titled 'Summer And Such' you'll quickly fall in love with them. I know it's crappy recording quality, and it's a little rough.. but there's just something about the sincerity of it all that catches my attention. Check out Mercury Switch!

Another great bunch from California! This band has that classic sort of surf pop sound mixed with genius vocal work, needless to say it works well. I used to follow one of the members (Will Sturgeon) on YouTube and he eventually joined this group, consequently I began to follow them too! Check them out. (The Smiles, "Sun")

Fred Baty is a HUGE role model of mine. He's a self taught guitarist that takes classical styling and modernizes it, using techniques that make even the most advanced guitarists shiver. Genius is the only word to describe this track, and the entire EP for than matter.

where do you find the artists that you post about?
Good question! I think I just spend so much time on the internet (mainly YouTube) that I happen to stumble upon bands more often than most.

At seventeen years old, the frontman of this group has already got the soul of a broken old man. Their multi-layered lyrics and tone set a bluesy rock feel that is so cleverly described by the bands name. Check these Washington boys out!

I consider the lead guitarist of this group to be a close friend of mine. Their lyrics are beautifully written with subtle christian undertones and poetic lines that will take your heart by storm. I can't really compare them to anything, because they're like nothing else I've ever heard! (Woodmen Hall, "The Tempter")

I met these guys on a mission trip in North Carolina. I was sitting at a picnic table with a couple of cute girls talking about God knows what, and these four kids walk past with acoustic guitars in hand. They started playing the coolest punky music, and suddenly the girls lost interest in my conversational skills, and so did I! These Virginia boys know how to rock, so let them show you a thing or two.

These are the guys every garage-band wants to be. Melodic and lyrical mastery shine through in every one of three six original songs recorded so far. I can't say enough to do justice to this group, check them out! (The Main Event, "Fadeaway")

This kid has got more talent than 99.9% of the "artists" played on the radio, and he's fifteen years old. As if his immense talent wasn't enough to capture my attention, he has undeniably great taste in music! Check him out! (Jessarae, "Hallelujah")

There was a time in my life where this song seemed very relevant. It doesn’t seem so anymore, but I’m sure someone out there needs to hear it. (Alex Edwards & Fred Baty, “Street Corner Side”)
