Argument comfort

After a nasty argument with someone in the group Time comes to comfort you.

Hugs and reassurance ensue of course.

You sit with your back against a tree, hugging your knees to your chest as you work on not letting the tears fall. You hate your tears, born from both hurt and anger it's never fun.

Angry tears are the worst. Sometimes people think you're crying to manipulate them when you're just so angry it has no way to leave except through involuntary tears.

Hurt tears aren't much better.

"Hey," Time says as he sits down beside you, leaving a respectful distance between you both.

You swallow hard before turning to look at him. "Hi..."

"Are you okay?

You just bite your cheek. That's a hard question.

Physically? You're fine, tired and crying but otherwise okay.

Mentally? You're not doing great. You're so angry You're crying. You're hurt too but most the tears just make you feel like a failure.

"I guess," you say as you quickly away your tears as quickly as you can

"Warriors went too far at the end, I'm sorry," Time says after a moment.

You shake your head. "It's my own fault."

"No, it isn't," Time says as he turns his gaze to you. "Warriors went from arguing over a watch shift to insulting your abilities. That's not your fault."

"I... guess."

"What can I do to help?" He asks you as his face softens.

"What?" You ask.

You don't understand. He wants to... help?

He wants to make you feel better even after seeing you cry?

"How can I help? I know you're upset, and you can say you want me to leave. Just... how can I help?" He asks, voice steady even as his hands flutter a little in his lap.

Oh.

Well...

What do you want?

You let yourself think for a moment, running scenarios through your mind's eye.

Oh!

"Can I have a hug?" You as as you shift around until you sit on your knees.

Time nods, holding his arms out for you in invitation. "Yes, of course."

You move closer before you wrap your arms around his shoulders, leaning into him.

The metal of his chest plate is not quite as comforting as without it, but it's so undeniably something you associate with Time that the cool metal press is okay.

Time wraps his arms around you with the perfect amount of pressure, holding you close. He rubs your back slowly.

"Thanks," you say as you let your body untense.

"Any time," he says with another sincerity to both soothe and make your heart ache.

"I'm sorry," you say. "For making you come after me."

Time sighs. "You don't need to apologize for being upset."

"I - okay."

"We can stay here as long as you like," Time tells you as he keeps you in his arms.

"Careful," you laugh weakly, "I might keep you here a while."

"That's okay. I always have time for you."

Later, when you do stop hugging him, you have to be the one to let go first.
