i get that americans love their cultural imperialism, but it really does piss me off that june is “international” pride month just because something happened in the united states.

in aotearoa, june isn’t our pride, it’s theirs. marsha p johnson and sylvia rivera are their historical figures, not ours. the phrase that “you owe your rights to Black trans women” is true there, but here we owe our rights to (mostly) Māori historical figures. i have the freedoms i do because of the legacy of an entirely different set of people operating in an entirely different context at entirely different times.

But because of american cultural imperialism, most queer people in Aotearoa don’t even know our own queer history. Carmen Rupe, Ngahuia Te Awekotuku, the Dorian Society, Gillian Laundon, Georgina Beyer, and the Wolfenden Association are some of our queer history. We should know their names! we should know what they did for us! but because of the power of the american imperial machine, we don’t.

our national pride month should be july, the month that the Homosexual Law Reform Act passed in 1986. our two largest cities hold their pride festivals in february and march, respectively. american queer history has very little (or nothing, depending on who you ask) to do with our queer history. anecdotally, from my own queries, queer youth in aotearoa know more about american queer history than our own.

anyway, happy pride, americans. i’m truly sorry that most of you don’t see the negative impact your nation’s culture has on the rest of the world. and to the rest of the world reading this, try searching for your own country and culture’s queer history, don’t accept the american narratives as your own. we deserve our own histories divorced from the cultural hegemony of the USA.

After repairing a small room in our destroyed house, we began to live there and start over. Unfortunately, the war came back, and it was even stronger than before 💔. Now, we have no shelter or source of income. We have used up all our savings during the war. I know I created my campaign very late, but that's because I have no other means to help my family 🙏. I am completely confident and hopeful that someone here will help us as much as they can and save my family in these tough circumstances 😔.

A lot of people who use mobility aids view them as an extension of themselves, so this is pretty accurate.

I only recently discovered that Bee uses a cane in canon and as a cane user myself, it makes me very happy. Especially in how it’s portrayed. And!! The panel of the dude with the chair complimenting Bee is so real. Using mobility aids can feel isolating, so seeing others using them too can be encouraging for some people. Disability solidarity and all that.

Probably been asked this before bit where did bee get the cane? Is it because he's old or has bad joints? Either way, it's cute adds something to him.

Figure I'd answer this since everyone keeps asking.

Bee with a cane is from the 2005 IDW continuity of comics!

Even after Ratchet got the parts for a full repair, Bee continued to use the cane instead of getting repaired. I don't know how much of this was him feeling he didn't have the time to go under another operation and how much was him feeling like he didn't deserve to get fixed due to how poorly he had lead the Autobots up to that point, but he gave off the impression getting fully fixed just wasn't a priority. Maybe he saw it as a part of him? I do know even after "death" he reverted back to his original frame (He gets massively damaged again right before Dark Cybertron and had his Goldbug appearance without the cane before Shockwave kills him) including the cane which as a ghost he obviously didnt need.

I'm not a cane user, but it means a lot to me that Bee apparently sees the cane as a part of him even after death. I like to think he didn't get repaired because he didn't see the need, he didn't need to be repaired to be functional and whole. My favorite Bumblebees are from Earthspark and IDW1, and the cane is such a nice touch from IDW I just had to include it.

In my AU, Bumblebee isn't old old, but he is actually older than Starscream! I didn't really plan for that to happen, but it's the only logical option since Starscream was brought online later than the other Seekers and the Seekers themselves were created after Cold Construction became standard practice, and Cold Construction became standard practice because the Hot Spots dried up. And Bumblebee is Fordged. Optimus Prime and Megatron are roughly the same age, Bumblebee is slightly younger than them, and Starscream is younger than all three. Not that it really matters, Mechs come online with basic adult functioning capabilities and they're all millions of years old at this point, but I do think it's funny this is how it ended up since Bee is usually seen as the youngest. Old man cane user Bee my beloved.
