So I have a question for y’all

Rest assured that I am making progress on the hidden city oneshot but I currently have brain rot with that angsty ‘what if’ thing I talked about in the authors notes of the last chapter of Mystic Malfunction.

The issue I am running into is that oneshot is currently at 10k words and I am…not very close to finishing the whole arc of that lol

So would you like to see it as a part of the oneshot book as a whole part, part of the oneshot book but broken up into two or three parts, or post it as a completely different fic separate from the one shot book. Let me know and I will provide hehe

me and a friend had the sudden realisation that mikey is coming to 2012 with a 2020 personality, and i was just wondering if you have any thoughts on how they might have cultural differences in that regard! i always think back to that one comic where raphael says “i’m gonna call you a slur” and leo is like “no let him, i wanna know which one he picks”

I’ll just go with early season 2012 since that’s the one the story was on, it’d probably be a bit different if we’re talking late seasons 2012 but regardless—

Personally, I think the major difference would be the open mindedness. Rise grew up in a much more accepting world as well as having a social life outside of their lair, no matter how small it was. They got out to see the world and experience it for themselves from a relatively early age.

2012, on the other hand, didn’t even really go up to the surface AT ALL until they were fifteen, and all they had was each other to talk to. There wasn’t really anything on the internet for them to branch out with. Added onto that that Splinter was raised in Japan with a COMPLETELY different social culture than in the USA (especially New York), they’re probably overall more conservative and resistant to change and the like than the Rise boys are.

That’s not to say they CANT change or won’t, but it’s hard when you’ve been sheltered from almost everything your whole life and only have your parent as a frame of reference. Michelangelo is really the only one who is a go with the flow type of guy who wouldn’t have any problems at all fundamentally.

Then there the obvious slang and trendy differences, but I think that applies more to the Rise side of things rather than 2012 since they��ve been sheltered so hard and don’t have much frame of reference. I think it would be a lot of ‘what does yeet mean?’ And ‘wtf is no cap and cap?’

It would definitely be more of a complete culture shock to 2012 April and Casey, but if they can accept aliens and talking turtles and rat ninjas then they shouldn’t have too much of a learning curve lol.

Hello, I am not sure if you've been made aware of this or if you've given approval for this but I just saw on A03 another work from a different writer that had the exact same description, title, and first chapter content as Mystic Malfunction.

It was just posted today. I have the writers name but I wanted to verify if you had given permission for a translation or something first before I said it?

lol no you’re not losing it, it WAS 35 before. The most recent chapter and the next one were originally meant to be one big chapter but I think I’d go insane if I made another chapter like that so I split it XD

Hi, I've just recently read Mystic Malfunction and IT'S SO GOOD! My question is, how did you get into AU creation for your story and combine it with Tumblr(if that makes sense.) because I had an idea for an AU/fanfiction and was just wondering.

I’m glad you’ve enjoyed it! It’s been a trip!

As for the how I got into all of the AU creation stuff I’ve been reading and writing fanfic since I was, like, 11? 12? Almost a decade now lol

For the actual creation of it and posting stuff the biggest advice I can give is do it for yourself. Everything I create is because it’s something I want to see, and I share it because hey, some of y’all probably want to see it too. Do it bad, do it fast, do it however you want—but it’s SO important to actually enjoy what you’re working on and pace yourself however you need to. If you don’t, it becomes a slog and you slowly lose your love for the thing you’re working on AND what it’s based on. (It’s happened to me before with previous fandoms on long dead accounts. I’m sure some people are pissed about me not updating those stories but oops)

If you’re talking more on the legit creation of an AU or whatever, then it all started with an idea. And then that idea grows wings and branches out into a full on plot. I made a probably almost 80 page outline of everything that was going to happen in my fic before I even started posting chapters cause I like to ramble about things haha. Outlines have really helped me, but they’re not for everyone!

Mixing all that with tumblr was pretty easy. My way to go was ‘there’s some things that I could talk about that don’t necessarily appear in the main story…BUT I STILL WANNA TALK AND SHOWCASE IT’ and then boom my tumblr was born lmao

So all in all just have fun with it. Do it your way, in your own time, and cultivate that love for fandom and creation into something great!
