All About Amnesia
What is amnesia?
Amnesia is defined as the inability to remember events from a period of time. There are two main classifications for amnesia, anterograde and retrograde. Anterograde amnesia is defined as the inability to form new memories, while retrograde amnesia is defined as the inability to recall events from the past.
Dissociative amnesia, which is a common feature of highly dissociative disorders such as DID/PDID/OSDD, is thought to be a protective mechanism utilized by the brain to help cope with trauma. The effects of dissociative amnesia may cause extreme distress for the individual experiencing it, and may severely impact the individual's functioning.
What are the types of dissociative amnesia?
Emotional amnesia: The inability to recall emotions, thoughts, or feelings that were occurring during a period of time.
Localized amnesia: The inability to recall a specific period of time.
Selective amnesia: The inability to recall some parts of a specific period of time.
Systematized amnesia: The inability to recall information in relation to a specific category or person.
Continuous amnesia: The inability to retain and/or recall events as they are occurring.
Generalized amnesia: The inability to recall any of one's life or personal information.

“People who claim to be endogenic are misinformed about the nature of systemhood, have most likely buried their traumatic childhood memories, and are usually not just faking” AND “I don’t want endos or their supporters anywhere fucking near me,” are statements that CAN and DO coexist, btw

Polyfragmentation in Dissociative Identity Disorder
What is polyfragmentation?
Polyfragmentation in dissociative identity disorder is generally considered as having 100+ alters, however this is only a misconception and watered down version of the true concept of polyfragmentation.
Polyfragmentation is all about the structure of a system. Generally, polyfragmented systems will have a large number of fragments that typically outweighs the number of fully developed identities (this is where the 100+ alters idea comes from), a complex inner world structure that typically includes layers and layering, complex splitting patterns, and one, if not many subsystems. Polyfragmented systems typically went through inescapable abuse and trauma that caused them to be unable to form coping mechanisms other than dissociation, which results in the high number of fragments.
How do I know if my system is polyfragmented?
If your system contains a high number of fragments, splits frequently and in a complex manner (i.e. splitting several alters at a time, splitting alters to take care of a short period of time consistently, etc.), have a generally complex system structure (i.e. one with layers/layering and subsystems), and/or went through intense trauma that caused your system to mainly dissociate as a coping mechanism, your system may be polyfragmented. Of course, it is best to consult a professional and discuss your dissociative disorder with them rather than trying to figure it out on your own, but these are simply warning signs that your system may be polyfragmented and you can bring these up with a health professional if you or your system notice them.

Introduction Post
Hello, we are The Vessel. We are a diagnosed polyfragmented DID system. We are bodily an adult as well as neurodivergent and have several other mental conditions. If you're interested to learn more about us, our overall interests, how we would like to be referred to, and our DNI is below the cut. If there is more you'd like to know, feel free to send an ask to our inbox and we will most likely answer it, unless we find it too intrusive.
Interests: Music (metal, emo, screamo, scene, shoegaze, + more), instruments, art, writing, creepy stuff, cutesy stuff, fashion (goth, emo, scene, coquette, + more), psychology, dinosaurs, language, weed, horror, and spirituality
Collectively: Overall, our system uses the name Vessel which will always be okay to use in any circumstance. If a specific person makes themself known, then use that person's name. Generally, our system prefers to be referred to with he/him pronouns in public settings and when the current fronter is unknown. If someone specifies who they are then their pronouns should be used. Additionally, we generally do not have a host/hosts, and when we do, it is very short lived. We also don't have consistent fronters so we do not have a frequent fronters list. People will probably sign off on posts on this account with either their name or an emoji along with their pronouns.
DNI: <18, non traumagenic systems + neutrals + supporters, anti neopronouns, anti therian, anti alterhuman, anti self dxing, discriminatory ideologies (lgtbq+ phobia, racism, sexism, etc.)
