📚 #HowToBeAYoungAntiracist 👀 How about a little non-fiction in your feed? I definitely needed this book not only in my feed but also in my life. The audiobook was a quick listen and narrated by both authors. @nicstone @ibramxk How to Be a Young Antiracist is based on the original book How to Be an Antiracist. I love books like this (Stamped) that are written for a younger audience. While the originals are great the younger generation needs to be able to consume them at their level. They don't need to wait until they are older to understand these concepts. There is some oversimplification but what are you going to do? If this brings people to the table to talk about issues it's done its job. We need more conversations happening. 📚 #TheMaryShelleyClub 👀 This book was just what I needed to get out of my slump. I had three books I planned to read and was just not interested and this book finally became available from my hold! I let those other books expire and started this one and finished it 24 hours later. I saw this book at my local @barnesandnoble and the title immediately resonated with me. I got on @libby.app and placed a hold. I had to wait a couple weeks but I knew it would be worth the wait. Rachel Chavez starts at a new school hoping for a new start. Little does she know that this new start is not what it seems. She finds a friend and then finds a club and she thinks her life is taking a turn for the better. As she wades deeper and deeper into her new life she gets a sinking feeling that her past may be following her. This book is full of pranks, horror, and thrilling adventures. It keeps you guessing over and over again. (I should have stuck with my gut instinct.) @goldlywrites has a new fan, and it's me! 📚 #HowToSellAHauntedHouse 👀 The first word that came to mind as soon as I finished this book was tender. Probably not what you'd expect based on the title, genre, and author, but that's genuinely how I felt. I also really enjoyed the Easter eggs from TSBCGTSV. @gradyhendrix did a phenomenal job with the prose. The story he wove was deep, dark, intricate, and beautiful. I was not expecting the subject of the haunting (no spoilers) and I was not expecting to be as moved as I was by the end of the novel. Louise and Mark attempt to sell their deceased parents house but little do they know how difficult it will be. 📚 #TheIvies 👀 I love a book with school as the setting. It gets me every time. The Ivies was no different. It was a quick read with a fun plot. It was fairly predictable but still fun playing the guessing game. I never had a crazy high school life and books like this make me wonder if real life is really this insane and competitive. This book also shows an interesting breakdown between the haves and have nots. I'd be interested in reading this again. 📚 #RockPaperScissors 👀 Another day, another book club book, and another @alicewriterland book no less! I loved this book until the very end. It was slightly predictable about an hour in, but the twist at the end is bigger than #daisydarker in my opinion. Maybe a better way to say this is the twist at the end of Daisy darker shocked me and the twist at the end of this book angered me. Without giving away any specific spoilers I loved and hated the characters. They were really well done by Feeny. Their complexity and depth is phenomenal, and slightly terrifying. I loved the setting and have a trip planned to Scotland later this year with my hubby. I sure hope it's not like the trip depicted in this thriller. Overall a great read, except for the very end! Skip it if you can. 📚 #AllTheDangerousThings 👀 what did you do with your Saturday? Well I definitely didn't spend all day on the couch listening to an audiobook... Or did I? Okay I did! But it was needed and well worth it. All The Dangerous Things was a sensational second novel by @stacyvwillingham It was full of typical southern charm laced with intrigue and heartache. The twists and turns keep you guessing with every chapter as the main character, Isabelle, is peeled back, layer by layer, like an onion. You worry with her, you hate with her, you emphasize with her, you grieve with her. Over and over again. The authors note at the end solidified my thoughts on how revisiting childhood trauma can be helpful in certain circumstances. I won't say anymore because I don't want to give any spoilers. All in all Willingham did it again with a thriller that I couldn't predict! I need more like this in my life. Read this book! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ P.S. I was not on the couch the entire day. While listening to the book I did five loads of laundry and organized the house. It was quite enjoyable and I can't wait until the wait-list for @libby.app is over for her second book so I can start consuming it! I thought I was getting good at predicting thrillers and then I read this book. Way to keep me humble...
