one of my biggest fears is writing smut and im a slow burn writer. i should fear my readers finding my home and burning me at the stake for 20 chapters of slow burn and then no smut

For people who want to get into writing fanfiction or even those who want to write fics instead of using generative AI for unique scenarios with their favs <3

I use a different name on here than I do on ao3 but I write on there :33

Writing fanfic and looking at a blank document can be so daunting. I wish I knew the things I know now, when I started writing fics when I was thirteen ToT

My Process

If I need fic ideas, @fanficy-prompts has a BUNCHHHH i fw them heavy <3

Once I have an idea, I grab the damn sticky notes !! They’re a really scattered way of storyboarding, just so you can feel like you have things down without burning yourself out with fully fleshed ideas iykwim. I write down things like conflict points (character vs. self, character vs. character, character vs. society, etc.), name ideas, and possible dialogue. Looking up conflict points can give you a bunch of ideas from blogs or articles too, same thing with names or dialogues.

I also try to jot down the main points of each chapter so that I dont run through the points too fast. From one of my sticky notes I genuinely have this progression down

Understanding the reader character

Reader character goes out w friends and gets drunk

Conflict 1

Love interest POV of conflict 1 + introduction to love interest

Reader character’s ignorant coworkers

Reader character meets love interest for real/doesnt like his attitude

Reader character learns about love interest through their friends

Love interest POV/him being curious about her + mentions of his motivations

Know that not everybody writes the same and as long as you like reading it, it doesnt matter, especially if is just for personal use. I will say, it makes me personally feel like I got more accomplished when I use paragraph indents LIBERALLY. I’ll have 1,800 to 3,000 words across like three pages because I’ll have like two sentences in one paragraph. I’ve noticed that other ao3 writers write like that but I’ve kind of always tended to write that way so :3

If you get writers block, PULL OUT THE STICKY NOTES. open tumblr for ideas for dialogue/internal thought points. once you have SOMETHING written down, at least in my experience, it can help with blockages

I, for one, am not overly comfortable with writing on ao3/docs on my phone just cuz i prefer writing on my computer but right now its broken so for people like me who dont have access to a computer and maybe want to post, writing on tumblr can feel better for mobile writers. and again, thats just my experience.

Ao3 can be kinda confusing to use for some so the tagging system guide from the official website is good to use, also looking at reddit pages like this one can be helpful

This stuff wont work for everyone so looking on reddit threads or tumblr pages can also provide tips for new writers ! Hopefully this helped a little bit :33

Sidebar but I think, personally, that we as a community should be more involved in helping other writers. I think that people go to ai for a lot of things, including advice, and if the writing community online was more involved, some people wouldn’t turn to ai. Not defending people who use it knowing the consequences of it, but I’ve been craving more interaction in the writing community for years and I think that we need it more now than ever.

Hii, I’m Vii. I’m eighteen :0 and have been in fandom for a while, though not actively posting on just about anything. I’m in a few fandoms but I’m most active in PJO (i even have a tiktok for it!) and mha…

I wish I wasn’t mildly ashamed by that second one but there’s a lot of trust to rebuild in the fandom after certain… events… in the timeline

I mostly want to start this blog to post my Percy Jackson thoughts since I am in the middle of rereading HOO and crave talking about it since my friends were all Warrior Cats kids in middle school
