Let’s talk about Dany for a sec-

Daenerys Targaryen. Mother of Dragons. Slayer of Lies. Breaker of Chains. Holder of a Lot of Titles. You can’t read ASoIaF or watch an episode of GoT without having an opinion on her, she’s a strong presence that garners attention. 

But some thoughts on her that are perpetuated are just so off that they cease being opinions- and become just baseless, unsupported ideas. If you read her chapters, you cannot conclude certain things.

What Could Have Been, What Should Have Been.

It’s time for sad reylo hours.

The link was aching.

There was something heavy crushing her chest.

Her heart was beating hard and with every breath she took her lungs seemed to contract painfully each time. 

Legs and arms burning, fingers bloody.  Hot sand at her feet, making each step harder to take.

The desert was endless. The suns in the horizon, shining bright in the sky, willingly ignorant of the ache.

She had wondered many times before how it was possible for the suns to rise and set in the sky when everything else had collapsed.

How...? How could they still rise high up in the sky?

When her staff hit a rock hidden in the ground she fell. She tasted blood and ground. 

Her cheek felt numb but she didn’t move. She laid there. Her staff had slipped from her bruised hand and she couldn’t find the strenght to get up. 

“Be with me..”

Who was she calling?

“Be with me...”

The aching got worse.

“Be with me...”

Only a whisper. A prayer lost in the vastness of the desert, words eaten by the dunes and the sand and the wind.

She was a nameless girl in the middle of nowhere calling ghosts from a past she didn’t know.

“Be with me” 

She closed her eyes. And her mind was far away...once again she was walking with her feet under water. She was dreaming, always dreaming of that place.

In her dreams she was always whole. 

In her dreams her pleas were always answered.

“Rey”

That voice.

She had heard that voice before.

Was that her name...? Her real name...?

She turned, and she saw a shadow.

And she felt whole.

“Rey”

She ran after the shadow. She ran after him...A name...the shadow had a name.

“Come find me!” she screamed.

The darkness was eating the shadow.

His shadow.

What was his name...?

Tears ran hot down her cheeks, her legs hurt until she couldn’t run anymore. She fell, knees deep in the water. Darkness setting around her.

“Rey, wake up”

“No!” 

Anger made her tremble. 

“You must” the voice said “Rise”

“NO!”

She felt lost. More so than ever.

“I can’t....I can’t stand it” her voice was shaking.

She didn’t want to go.

Her mouth tasted blood again and she felt her bruised fingers grabbing the sand beneath them.

“Please, please let me stay” she begged.

The voice spoke one more time, words final but soft like a lover’s kiss.

“I’ll find you again, I promise”

She woke up to the night sky. Thousands of stars shinning above her. 

“Ben”

She remembered.

You Guys!!!! Possible EXTENDED CUT If It Is True And Ben Still Dies I Will Not See It!

They have a chance to fix the mistakes and let Ben Solo LIVE! I know it’s long shot but I really hope they change his end because that is the worst shit we ever had to sit through and we could forgive them but only time will tell..

Ben Solo was abused from the very start. He was a victim. And they butchered him in the end.

 His story was so poorly represented through the sequel trilogy that it is honestly a miracle that we understand his character so well. TLJ did a marvelous job to set what TFA and TROS couldn’t: That there was some major shit going on in Ben Solo’s mind. He was conflicted. He was broken. He was misguided. He was ignored by his own family and sent away to an uncle that didn’t know what the flying fuck was happening half of the time (mind you I love Luke but damn he GAVE UP ON HIS OWN BLOOD!)   

I still can’t believe how much J.J and Terrio ignored the true nature of Ben Solo and couldn’t understand his character at ALL.They sat together for hours and came up with the idea of KILLING the last SKYWALKER after all the shit he had gone through. They didn’t know what they were doing, THEY DIDN’T HAVE A PLAN! How the fuck do you come up with THREE FUCKING MOVIES AND NOT HAVE A CHARACTER ARC IN MIND FOR BEN SOLO? 

I mean I still wake up in the morning and think to myself what.the.actual.fuck

So, in the end was was truly the message of this trilogy? 

Ben Solo in Rise of Kylo Ren #2

So, before I really get started I’m going to say this. Rather bluntly.

If you read this comic and your opinion is still “Ben Solo got what he deserved” then you’re a sick fuck. And I normally don’t say this about people’s fictional preferences. You just flat out don’t like him? Ok, cool. Whatever.

Think a character who was groomed as a child and is kept in a metaphorical childhood as a grown man got what he deserved by being flung into a pit and dying? Go fuck yourself. I’m not even going to get into the fact he didn’t kill anyone at the temple. He didn’t do a damn thing wrong. Ever.

There are too many CSA survivors who are getting triggered by this comic so it’s obviously hitting on a very heavy topic. Honestly? Everyone should read it (unless you think it will severely trigger you). Charles Soule and Will Sliney were not kidding when they said this comic is very important.

So, here’s Snoke at the end of the last issue. He’s presenting himself as a benevolent figure. He’s welcoming. He praises Ben. Etc. He’s extremely manipulative. And given what we know about Sidious in TROS this kind of torment of Ben was an act of revenge against the Skywalkers.

And let it sink in that Ben went to Snoke and not Leia because Snoke is his “friend” and is the only one who understands him, right? Because he’s put that in his head. Since he was a child.

And in the next issue we have this:

Snoke puts it out there he does have other “friends”, which feeds into Ben’s insecurities some more. And the touching is…..uh……eh….it’s disturbing. If this weren’t Star Wars I’d have to say that they would have outright said Snoke molested him too. It’s…..🤮

And this jumped out at me too:

Kylo is a name Ben thought up as a child. Snoke is encouraging him to take this name and rants about how children are “pure”. Under Snoke he is kept in childhood, metaphorically. It’s why he lashes out like a child. He calls him “boy” and “child” throughout the ST. Even when he’s revealed as Palpatine. This is another thing that’s Y I K E S.

And then we have this:

He looks about 13/14 here. Regardless, he’s a child.

A child.

Let that sink in. Snoke is talking to Ben in his head and Ben is conversing with him. As if this is normal. It’s been going on for a while. And Snoke is manipulating him by giving him hints that Luke is holding him back. He’s already working on causing a rift between the two.

I will forever be pissed that JJ and Terrio thought it was a good idea that this “abused, gaslit, and groomed” child should be thrown in a pit and his death not even really be mourned or thought of after the fact. And then his love interest just takes everything that should be his because she was the “Good Child”. The Good Child ™ who was never groomed….just…left on a desert because her parents had good intentions. For some reason she deserves Anakin’s encouragements (when Ben’s life is fucked up partly because of him even becoming Vader in the first place) and Leia’s blessings. Over their own blood. I just.

Right. 

Don’t get me wrong, I’m coming to terms with the fact that Ben gave up his life so Rey could live because he fucking loves her so much. THAT is Ben Solo. That is definitely in character for him. But it’s what comes after his death that just makes me want to flip a table. It’s handled badly. And it’s really hit a lot of abuse survivors, particularly child abuse and CSA survivors, hard.  And I don’t blame them because as a parent this shit is HORRIBLE. 

Either no one knew wtf they were doing with Ben’s arc or there was a serious disconnect with JJ and the Storygroup. The latter seems more likely.
