Hello everyone! Hope everyone is doing fine amidst these difficult times.
Had some spare time being cooped up at home for the past few months so here’s an update on the Cartoon Network Asia schedule (WEEK OF 7/2 TO 7/8) just for funsies, unfortunately starting in the middle of the week hence the partition down the middle. Tons have changed in the landscape of cartoons and TV in general across Asia, and that comes across quite interestingly in the network’s schedule today. Here’s just some highlights since my last schedule post in June last year:
- Out of the newcomers to the channel over the past year, Total Dramarama seems to be performing the best on the network, as it holds the most slots amongst all the new shows, even without taking the Monday marathon which shuffles between shows on a weekly basis. It is however also getting a lot of promotion, with almost every commercial break having one Dramarama ad, so I guess it’s getting that push. Other newcomers include ThunderCats Roar, Victor & Valentino, DC Super Hero Girls, Power Players (a new acquired show that’s just a 3D animated Toy Story ripoff) and Apple & Onion.
- Adventure Time is still going strong despite being one of the oldest shows currently airing, although its airings are mostly in the late night and midnight hours. We Bare Bears still remains the network’s most popular show by far, with the most airings out of all, and they’re all throughout the day too. The oldest show here however, and I’m surprised it’s still airing on weekends at good times too, Batman: The Brave and the Bold, being the only action show, and the only pre-2010s show here.
- The large number of daytime airings of The Powerpuff Girls despite no new episodes currently running also leads me to believe that The Powerpuff Girls may actually be doing well on the network. It even has the notable meal-time 12pm and 6pm hour slots, which may actually do the show a favour.
- Steven Universe has long gone, with both the movie and its sing-along versions passing me by completely as I resorted to other mediums to watch SU like practically everyone else; but what was interesting was how little promotion it got, which leads me to believe that (hot take incoming) Steven Universe isn’t exactly doing well on Cartoon Network Asia’s TV channel. Note I state the TV channel and not its overall popularity, as it is pretty well known. Not to mention how new episodes of Steven Universe Future are now airing on weekends at 2pm, away from the usual hard hitters on weekend mornings, something tells me they’re trying to move past SU at this point. And who can blame them, older kids have so much access to other mediums to watch the shows they like, I don’t think the younger kids left with the TV would take much interest in SU when it comes on.
- In related news, Disney Channel, Disney XD and Disney Junior Asia have been shut down in Singapore (where I’m from), in preparation for Disney+, which is a tragedy to say the least. I miss the 6pm Phineas and Ferbs, in fact those were what got me into watching cartoons again back then. Still, I’m surprised this hasn’t happened everywhere yet, as Disney begins to push DIsney+ into other regions. Just a heads up for you guys before it happens everywhere, but as of right now, it looks like kids in Singapore can only choose between CN and Nick, and toddlers only have Nick Jr. and maybe Boomerang.
So yeah, that’s all from me right now. More updates to come in the near future given how we’re all spending more time at home right now. I may not update these schedules every week from now on, but if anything interesting pops up again, I’d be happy to make another post. Stay safe everyone!

And here is the Cartoon Network Asia schedule for last week, late as always (MON 5/20 TO SUN 5/26).
Unikitty marathon there, filing up all the gaps around the morning airings, noon time and the evenings. What surprised me was how big the marathon was on the weekend, basically following the same format as the weekdays, which isn’t really common for CN Asia that rarely changes weekend schedules to this extent. Well I guess that’s summer for us.
Unbolded, but Friday had new Gumball at 5, Ben 10 at 5.30, Craig at 6 and OK KO at 6.30.

Cartoon Network Asia’s schedule for 2 weeks ago (MON 5/13 TO SUN 5/19).
Okay, so I decided to take a break from making these after months of monotony on the CN Asia schedule and suddenly a day of scrolling through Twitter led me to tweets about how CN Asia is basically screwed. And wow, never would I have expected this to begin THIS quickly. We’re moving into the school holiday period in the coming weeks, so marathons do make sense, but this is pretty much overkill. And this is going to continue at least for the rest of the month. Summer Camp Island has at most 20 episodes out now, and it had 238 slots that week. We Bare Bears thankfully still comes in second.
Fridays have new Gumball at 5, Craig at 6, Teen Titans Go at 7 and We Bare Bears at 8.

Cartoon Network Asia’s schedule this week (MON 4/1 TO SUN 4/7).
Disappointing to see CN Asia not do anything for April Fools this year but they haven’t really done anything for that in the few years I’ve kept track of the schedule. Anyways some neat changes to the schedule for the new month of April, with notably more Supernoobs reruns and less Teen Titans Go (a positive change, perhaps?). Regular Show and Clarence are shoved aside at 10pm and 11pm respectively for more Steven Universe and Adventure Time reruns. OK KO and Mighty Magiswords return to the schedule on the weekends.
New Ben 10 at 5.30pm on Friday.

Isn’t exactly punctual but here’s the Cartoon Network Asia schedule for this week (MON 3/25 TO SUN 3/31).
Just when I thought there’d be no more changes to this month’s schedule, this week we have an onslaught of cool changes, from weekday mornings with marathons of Running Man: The Animated Series (calling it just Running Man sounds weird) and Apple and Onion, along with Powerpuff Girls on Friday. Another Ben 10 movie, the live action Destroy All Aliens airs Friday at 10.30am. Yes, I know I forgot to cover Yokai Watch: The Movie premiering last week, Friday at 2.30pm. Sorry about that.
Random Summer Camp Island hour long blocks around the week, especially on the weekends, and a rare takeover of Regular Show and Steven Universe which has not happened even once for the past month.
Forgot to label these but new episodes of TTG! at 5, Ben 10 at 5.30 (new timeslot), Craig of the Creek at 6 (shifted from 5.30) and Unikitty at 6.30, all on Fridays only. TTG stops new episodes and goes into reruns next week.
Next week also signals the start of April, of which we will be seeing some changes to the regular weekday and hopefully weekend schedule, including more Steven and Adventure Time. Stay tuned for that.

Returning from a small hiatus to bring you guys a CN Asia schedule that has not changed with the turn of the month to my dismay. The only exception here that’s special to this week is a 2 hour Powerpuff Girls marathon to celebrate International Women’s Day which is great but I was hoping for a debut or sneak peek of DC Super Hero Girls rather than just PPG but hey we’ll take it. There’s also an additional Adventure Time slot on Friday at 4.30pm taking over PPG too for some reason.
FRI-YAY (they’re not using that phrase in advertising but it’s a general term here) remains essentially unchanged with TTG at 5, Craig of the Creek at 5.30 and Ben 10 at 6 instead of Apple and Onion which isn’t a surprise given how many episodes it has and finally Unikitty at 6.30.

Cartoon Network Asia’s schedule this week (MON 2/18 TO SUN 2/24).
Summer Camp Island officially (?) premieres Friday at 7 with an hour-long special event titled “Camp Activities” consisting of 4 episodes that repeat a few times on Saturday.
CN Asia seems to have fully taken on the FRI-YAY! weekly event with new episodes of Teen Titans Go at 5, Craig of the Creek at 5.30, Apple & Onion at 6 and Unikitty at 6.30 for the weeks to come complete with their own special advertisements. Not sure if Summer Camp Island will keep the 7 slot next week.
Another interesting ad I heard on the network was an audio-only clip that played during Craig of the Creek’s 2.30p slot that advertised the shows after 10pm as “the favourite catch-up shows”. I guess they’re trying out a more late-night oriented programming style by placing more adult-oriented shows at night (AT, RS, SU and I guess Clarence oddly fits) for reals. Maybe these shows actually did relatively better on demand so they gave them more time slots at night for adults to see them? Who knows.

What’s New In 2019: The Cartoons.
PART 2:
Separated by network. All premiere dates are estimated until confirmed. Timings are in EST.
DISNEY CHANNEL:

- Amphibia (TBA): Created and executive produced by Matt Braly (Gravity Falls), Amphibia chronicles the adventures of Anne Boonchuy, a self-centered 13-year-old who is magically transported to the fictitious world of Amphibia, a rural marshland full of frog-people. With the help of an excitable young frog named Sprig, Anne will transform into a hero and discover the first true friendship of her life.
The series was announced to be greenlit for production in early 2018 and is expected to premiere later in 2019.

- The Owl House (TBA): Created and executive produced by Dana Terrace (DuckTales) is a horror-comedy series that follows Luz, a self-assured teenage human girl who accidentally stumbles upon a portal to the Demon Realm. There she befriends a rebellious witch, Eda, and an adorably tiny warrior, King. Despite not having magical abilities, Luz pursues her dream of becoming a witch by serving as Eda’s apprentice at the Owl House and ultimately finds a new family in an unlikely setting.
The series was announced at the same time as Amphibia and a Season 4 renewal of Star vs the Forces of Evil in early 2018. Similar to Amphibia, it is expected to release in late 2019.

- Vikingskool (end 2019): The series will follow a group of young would-be Viking warriors in an elite Vikingskool. Ross described the alumni as being “Like freshmen in ‘Top Gun,’ but for Vikings. ”The group will embark on a series of humorous and exciting adventures in a mystical world. At the heart of the tale are three best friends: Erik, Arnie and Ilba, each with their own unique Viking strengths and weaknesses.
The series is being produced by Ireland’s Cartoon Saloon (“The Secret of Kells,” “The Breadwinner”) and France’s Samka Productions (“Jamie’s Got Tentacles”) with post-production from Norwegian VFX company Storm Films. It’s this pedigree that prompted Ross to explain to Variety: “There is a substantial Viking history in Ireland and Northern France. As a co-production we can say it’s the only Viking show made by actual Vikings.”
The series’ 26 half-hours are scheduled for broadcast at the end of 2019.

- 101 Dalmatian Street (early 2019): Inspired by Dodie Smith’s 1956 novel and the 1961 movie, it will be based in Camden Town, London.
Featuring 43 cast members covering 106 speaking roles, the modern tale will focus on dalmatians Dylan and Dolly, their parents Doug and Delilah and 97 younger puppies whose names all also begin with D. Miriam Margolyes, known for her portrayal of Professor Sprout in the Harry Potter film series, will voice Bessie the Cornish Cow.American actors Josh Brener and Michaela Dietz will voice Dylan and Dolly, the eldest Dalmatian siblings. Rapper Ben Bailey Smith, also known as Doc Brown, will voice Sid Squirrel as well as Spencer Sausage Dog. The series will also feature EastEnders star Tameka Empson as Pearl Police Horse and Bethan Wright as Prunella Pug.
The series has premiered its first episode on Disney Channel Africa and is set to premiere on Disney Channel UK in January. It will premiere in the US in spring 2019.
NETFLIX:

- Pinky Malinky (January 1, 2019): Pinky Malinky is a brand-new fly-on-the-wall reality show that follows the everyday life of Pinky, an infectiously positive hot dog living in a human world. With his best friends Babs and JJ by his side, Pinky reaches for the stars in the small town of Sackenhack. Through his good spirits and sausage sensibilities, Pinky proves that a "wiener" is only one small letter away from being a "WINNER!"
Using the tropes of a mockumentary and reality show format, Pinky and his friends will talk directly to the camera and the audience to share their absurd and silly take on real life. At times, all children feel like they don't fit in and Pinky's undeniably unique point of view as a literal wiener amongst humans will allow kids to laugh at his familiar struggles and enjoy his unusual perspective on the challenges of being a school-aged kid. By always reaching for the stars, Pinky pushes himself further than anyone could imagine. Pinky and his friends' humorous experiences will also be shared across social media and Nickelodeon's digital platforms. Co-created and co-executive produced by Chris Garbutt and Rikke Asbjoern (The Amazing World of Gumball) and executive produced by Scott Kreamer (Kung Fu Panda: Legends of Awesomeness), the trio are a part of the Artist Collective, an internal diverse group of experienced creators who mentor and support up-and-coming talent while also collaborating to cultivate, challenge and inspire Nickelodeon's development pipeline. Pinky Malinky will star Lucas Grabeel (Glenn Martin DDS, I Kissed A Vampire) as Pinky Malinky, Diamond White (The Haunted Hathaways) as Babs Buttman, and Nathan Kress (iCarly) as JJ Jameson. Under the deal with Netflix, Nickelodeon is producing two seasons — 59 episodes — of Pinky Malinky for the streaming service. The first season, consisting of 28 episodes is now available on Netflix.

- Tuca & Bertie (TBA): The series, which has received a 10-episode order, is an adult-oriented comedy about the friendship between two 30-year-old bird women who live in the same apartment building: Tuca (Haddish), a cocky, care-free toucan, and Bertie (Wong), an anxious, daydreaming songbird.
Both Haddish and Wong will also serve as executive producers in addition to starring. Lisa Hanawalt created the series and will serve as executive producer. Hanawalt is the production designer and producer on Netflix’s critically-acclaimed animated series “BoJack Horseman.” Raphael Bob-Waksberg, the creator of “BoJack” will also executive produce along with “BoJack” executive producers Noel Bright and Steven A. Cohen. Michael Eisner’s The Tornante Company, which produces “BoJack,” will produce. Animation is being done at Shadowmachine.
The series was announced to be in production in February 2018 and is set to release in the summer.

- Carmen Sandiego (January 18, 2019): Carmen Sandiego started as a video game in 1985 and ventured out into books, television, and comics. Children of the ‘90s have searched for Sandiego in the U.S.A., in Europe, in Space, and back in Time. The PBS animated series Where In The World Is Carmen Sandiego? ran for 295 episodes between 1991 and 1995. Author John Peel wrote 10 Carmen Sandiego books in the '90s. DC Comics published four issues of a Carmen Sandiego comic starting in June 1996.
Believe it or not, after more than two decades Sandiego, a notorious crook, is still on the loose. Can she outrun the Netflix binge watchers? We’ll have see if Rodriguez has what it takes.
Insiders say that Netflix has ordered 20 episodes of the series, which aims to be as educational as it is entertaining, given the title character’s globetrotting adventures. The series is set to release on Netflix on January 18, 2019.

- Cannon Busters (March 1, 2019): Cannon Busters tells the story of a royal droid named S.A.M., who is searching for her best friend, and heir to the throne. Along the way, she’s joined by an old maintenance droid and a fugitive. The 12-episode series buy is part of Netflix’s impending wave of anime titles including Ultraman, Kengan Ashura, and season two of Aggretsuko.
Cannon Busters was created by LeSean Thomas, a storyboard artist and character designer known for his work on The Boondocks, the animated Black Dynamite series, and The Legend of Korra. Following a successful Kickstarter campaign, Netflix has bought 12 episodes, adapted from a 2003 comic of the same title.
The series was first announced at the Netflix panel at the 2018 Anime Expo and is set to release on Netflix on March 1, 2019.

- Twelve Forever (TBA): The series centers on 12-year-old Reggie, whose desire to remain a child is so powerful it creates a fantasy world in which she never has to grow up. She’s joined by her friends Todd and Esther, who visit this amazing world to live out their superhero fantasies and escape the responsibilities of impending adulthood.
Production companies behind the series are the Cartel and Puny Entertainment. In addition to Vickerman, executive producers include the Cartel’s Stan Spry and Bradford Bricken, and Puny’s Chris Hardwick and Shadi Petosky.
The original pilot was first aired on Cartoon Network in 2015 and was not picked up by the network until Netflix was announced to have picked it up for a first season in December 2017 and is set to release sometime in 2019.
So that’s the stuff you can expect from the major networks (and Netflix) in terms of animation this year. Which shows are you most excited to watch this year? Here’s to an amazing 2019 full of amazing cartoons.
For the upcoming cartoons on Cartoon Network and Nickelodeon, go check out Part 1.

Created by Ant Blades, Pony is based off a short of the same name from Nickelodeon’s 2015 International Animated Shorts Program.Pony follows Annie’s everyday life as a 9-year-old, from working at her parent’s city farm, located on their apartment balcony, homework, school friends and, most importantly, her friendship with Pony. Pony is Annie’s biggest cheerleader and best friend, although sometimes his optimism and enthusiasm lands the pair in unusual situations.
The series will be starting with a 20-episode order and is set to premiere in the fourth quarter of 2019.
- Glitch Techs (TBA): Glitch Techs (working title) is an adventure-comedy following two newly recruited kids as they battle video game monsters that come to life in the real world. The series comes from Eric Robles (Fanboy & Chum Chum, The X's, Ni Hao, Kai-Lan) and Dan Milano (Greg the Bunny, Warren the Ape), both hailing from Nickelodeon's Artist Collective, an internal artist-led development program, and is being produced at the Nickelodeon Animation Studio in Burbank, Calif. The series was announced to be in production since 2016 and was originally intended to premiere on Nickelodeon in 2018.

- Invader ZIm: Enter the Florpus (TBA): In Invader Zim: Enter The Florpus, Zim discovers his almighty leaders have no intention of coming to Earth, and he loses confidence in his own amazingness for the first time in his amazing life, which is the big break his human nemesis Dib has been waiting for. At some point, GIR rides a tiny donkey, and that’s all anyone should really care about. The 2D-animated TV movie is produced by Nickelodeon in Burbank.
The voice cast also features returning Zim alums Andy Berman as Dib Membrane and Melissa Fahn as Gaz Membrane. Additional voice actors reprising their original series roles include: Rodger Bumpass as Professor Membrane, Dib and Gaz’s father; Olivia d’Abo as Tak, Zim’s Irken nemesis; and Paul Greenberg as Poonchy, one of Zim and Dib’s human classmates.
CARTOON NETWORK:
- Infinity Train (TBA): Infinity Train tells the story of Tulip (originally voiced by Ashley Johnson), an analytical teenager with a fondness for order and solving complex puzzles. While it’s never exactly explained how she got there in the short, Infinity Train follows as Tulip makes her way through the titular locomotive and its seemingly infinite cars, each of which contains entire worlds that, for some reason, are in desperate need of her help.
Despite being joined by her sophisticated, bifurcated robot friend One-One (voiced by Jeremy Crutchley and Owen Dennis), the only information Tulip has about her predicament comes in the form of an ever-changing, glowing number etched into her hand that’s trying to give her directions she doesn’t understand.
The official premiere date of the series has yet to be announced.

- Victor and Valentino (TBA): Created by Diego Molano, this supernatural adventure comedy follows two half-brothers who spend a summer with their grandma in Monte Macabre, a small and mysterious town, where the myths and legends of Latin American folklore come to life.
The series first appeared on Cartoon Network in October 2016 with its pilot episode and is set to premiere early 2019.

- ThunderCats Roar (TBA): Staying true to the premise of the original series, Lion-O and the ThunderCats -- Tygra, Panthro, Cheetara, Wilykat and Wilykit -- barely escape the sudden destruction of their home world, Thundera, only to crash land on the mysterious and exotic planet of Third Earth. Lion-O, the newly appointed Lord of the ThunderCats, attempts to lead the team as they make this planet their new home. A bizarre host of creatures and villains stand in their way, including the evil Mumm-Ra, Third Earth’s wicked ruler who will let nothing, including the ThunderCats, stop his tyrannical reign over the planet.
ThunderCats Roar features a talented voice cast with Max Mittelman (Justice League Action) as Lion-O and Wilykat, Erica Lindbeck (DC Super Hero Girls) as Cheetara and Wilykit, Patrick Seitz (Justice League Action) as Tygra and Mumm-Ra, and Chris Jai Alex (Star Wars: Battlefront II) as Panthro. Victor Courtright (Pickle and Peanut) and Marly Halpern-Graser (Right Now Kapow) serve as producers, with Sam Register (Teen Titans Go!) as executive producer.
The series is set to be released late 2019.

- DC Super Hero Girls (1st quarter 2019): The DC Super Hero Girls universe is expanding on Cartoon Network and into more graphic novels. From executive producer Lauren Faust (My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic), the new DC Super Hero Girls cartoon will feature fresh redesigns of popular characters like Wonder Woman, Batgirl and Supergirl as they navigate high school and superhero life.
The series has been previewed with online shorts since 2015 and a short clip of an episode titled “The Late Batsby” was shown at San Diego Comic Con in Summer 2018.
For the upcoming shows from Disney and Netflix, go check out Part 2.
