Is it normal to get burnt out from looking at fanfics and fanart for so long? Because either this came from a lull in content I'm interested in or the internet censorship stuff caused me to become demotivated from consuming any fan-created material.

KPop Demon Hunters is a good movie because it has something for everybody:
-Famous girl group that's allowed to be good at what they do & still act silly
-Stylized animation that isn't scared to make characters ugly/isn't scared to show girls without makeup
-Queer undertones & generational trauma in one ("Why couldn't you love me?"/"All of me")
-Friendships are just as important as romance, if not more
-Enemies to lovers based on something more than the MC and antagonist finding each other attractive
-The girls have a relationship that can be interpreted however you want and nobody is wrong
-Songs that are still good outside of the plot's context
-Social commentary on the irl K-Pop industry, particularly how boy bands tend to have it easier than girl groups

things I would do if you're a nsfw/kink creative now because I've been eerily prescient about every single wave:
a) get a personal site with your own domain you own. now. not a carrd or third party squarespace. not next week. now. get it online with ugly-ass html but get your links there.
b) if you have the money: join one or multiple of eff.org / cbldf.org / freespeechcoalition.com
partly because they're actively fighting this, partly because they have members-only Lawyers You Might Need. Hint. Hint. Canary.
c) Write Down Those Lawyer Contact Numbers in meatspace. phone number of a real human being especially on paper, On You.
I have been in contact with lawyers for a few months now as my doujin circle knows. this should be telling you Many Things.
d) www.ecrater.com is where i'm going to be tentatively testing a shop because i like the fact you can *not* have payment processes and order digital/physical products via purely mail order.
(... be prepared for this to fall through too in the next 1-6 months.)
e) friends and followers of nsfw artists who earn most of their income through it: now's the time to support them. they're going to need the grace and financial flexibility especially mental health wise. domain/shop transfer/refund/therapy bills ain't free.
check in on them, and often.
f) get a VPN, use it daily to acclimatize, have them on your hard drive, several VPN's preferable. this is for the age verification laws coming. Start reading up on secure, privacy-focused infrastructure (prioritize email > website > shop in that order).
eff.org has a *ton* of resources.
g) prepare for discord and tumblr to be hit in the next wave. have alternatives *and actively start using them* if they're mission critical platforms for you.
I've played with matrix though I quite fancy IRC. if it ain't broke, don't fix it.
I say these things not to fearmonger but to give yourself the maximum amount of time to prepare. the pendulum *will* swing back. it did with the 80's moral panic. it will for this too.
you just have to outlast the bastards.

Hi hello! I wanted to put a link to your post on the whole deal with Visa n Mastercard on my website cause it was very informative and I want other people to see it but I wanted to check first if that'd be alright? Thank you so much for taking the time to put that together regardless!
sure if you think it's a good source, though i'd appreciate it if you made it clear that my blog is 18+ and all my other posts on here are explicit sexual content. some people have gotten angry at me stating that boundary but it's like.. this is a porn blog idk what to say, please don't go browsing my other posts or following me if you're a minor. i didn't think the post i made would make it's way outside of my following hence why i reference my being scared about patreon since a lot of my followers also support me on patreon. didn't expect it to now be at over 10k notes. and while i'm glad it's helping people be more away, if anyone contacted the payment providers or signed petitions based on my post that makes me very happy. it's just a shame that because it's left the nsftumblr side i've got minors trying to send me asks or following me. please don't follow me if you're a minor, this blog is full of explicit sexual content, you not only would be breaking a major boundary of mine but also you know.. it's illegal for me to share sexuality explicit content with you. some people have got angry at me for that boundary and said i'm a hyprocrite for being anti-censorship but having a dni. i don't know how to explain that people can be anti-censorship but have personal boundaries on 'this thing is allowed to exist i just don't want to see it' and not wanting minors to follow their porn blog as sharing porn with minors is illegal and not something i'm comfortable with. i'm not going to stop people interacting with the last post, or this one, but i'd appreciate it if you didn't start following me or liking/reblogging my other sexual posts, or sending me asks or dms if you're a minor. if i see you doing that you will get blocked. not because i'm 'censoring you' but because this is my blog and that is my personal boundary. personal boundaries and DNIs are not censorship.
also i'd like to link some other stuff you might find helpful, more resources i've found since making the last post:
here's a change.org petition
some scripts to use for phone calls/emails if you don't know what to say (links and alt/id text for copy and pasting are in the images):
Tumblr media
phone script by shonen413.itch.io
Tumblr media
email/online contact script by caradelaney.bsky.social
Tumblr media
thread including a lot of info and scripts by voiddebris.bsky.social . it includes an email script, phone numbers, tutorials on how to contact companies and how to navigate their websites, public business contacts of people who work at companies for you to directly contact, how to navigate their phone trees, mailing addresses, how to contact news outlets and reports, a discord server and more.
Tumblr media
boneybag.bsky.social is compiling a masterlist of artists who's work has been censored in any way by all of this. you can view the collection and ask to be added to it if your work has been censored, banned, deindexed, etc.
and if you're linking to my masterpost i'd recommend also linking to these places too. voiddebris' thread that's linked above, it's long and full of info that is still being updated and added too. and i would also like you to link to a place that's way better an compiling information than i am and also doesn't have explicit 18+ content on it. so i Ludlow recommend you also link to this site, or even link to this instead of linking to my post:
Tumblr media
someone has made a neocities site for this whole situation with links to information, petitions, phone numbers and emails along with scripts to use if you don't know what to say/write, and information about the uk's online safety act as there are similar things happening with that here where not only are people at risk of having to doxx themselves to see explicit content but also lgbt+ works and education is being put between these 'give us your id to prove you're 18+ access this website' walls.
Tumblr media
there is also this website with more contact information, petitions and info.
youtube
lextorias has made a video essay on the situation which may be easier for people to understand than reading walls of text.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
this cheatsheet made by dieselbrain.bsky.social, be aware that this sheet doesn't include many international numbers but international numbers are out there and this is an international issue not just affecting the usa so look at other resources for international contact numbers.
and when you're calling remember if they try and push you to email instead you can say it's too important for email and you'd like to speak to someone on the phone. and if you are calling/email/writing letters, you are allowed to keep doing it every day, you don't only get one go at contacting them, you can repeat it.
and if you're in the UK, sign this
Tumblr media
and if you've seen sfw lgbt+ content blocked in the uk under the new online safety act you can report it here

Steam, Itch.io and the banning of explicit and LGBT+ Content. What can we do?
[All images in this post have alt/id text if you need it or want to copy paste anything]
With no warning, Itch.io, a site where many host their indie games, comics, books and more, has started purging and shadowbanning explicit and LGBT+ works. Creators got no warning. And if they were still owed payouts from these works, Itch.io is saying they won't give them their money as they 'broke the rules'. Rules that were only just set in place, with no warning, and therefore no way for creators to try and draw out their money or delete these 'offending' works before they got banned under the new rules.
Tumblr media
So Itch.io has been the most recent to fall to the demands of a group that's been contacting Visa and Mastercard and convincing them to threaten sites/businesses with 'stop selling what we consider to be explicit content on your sites of we'll stop allowing your site to have transactions with Visa and Mastercard'. Steam folded, and now Itchio has too. And a reminder earlier this year Gumroad also stopped allowing explicit content, further back than that Patreon banned some kinks and fetishes even if it's depicted in fiction not real life, and I don't have to explain to you guys the great Tumblr explicit content ban of 2018.
And as always remember this doesn't stop with sexually explicit work as LGBT+ stories and people are often labelled as explicit and already we're seeing works being taken off Itch.io that are about LGBT+ and especially trans stories. Other non-sexually explicit works I've seen already getting shadowbanned, delisted or deleted are SFW games featuring furries/anthros, SFW dress up games (because when you take the clothes the model is nude), and the aforementioned SFW games that include LGBT+ characters and stories.
I'm compiling here information I've seen around various social medias, mostly Bluesky, because I haven't seen all these things shared over here.
I don't personally have explicit content on itch, but I had been considering one day selling things on there and I do currently have explicit content on my Patreon, my main source of income, and am terrified that Patreon is going to fold next (if anyone knows alterative for hosting audio content behind a paid subscription service please let me know so I can start maybe making a back-up in case the worst happens). Because for me personally if Patreon goes next, it's not like I can go out and easily get another job. Not only because in general finding and getting a job is difficult enough, but I'm autistic and have chronic pain and have been constantly getting sick or new pains over the last few years and don't feel safe being trans in the UK right now and all of that combined rules me out of a lot of jobs and makes me feel unsafe to apply to any. I'm so grateful I've been able to make a community around my work, but if Patreon caves next and I just leave my SFW posts on Patreon... 10% of my Patreons are signed up to the SFW tier, 90% are signed up to the explicit tier... I know if Patreon caves I will go from someone living comfortably who's searching to move out of my parents so I can live in a safer environment to someone who can no longer even afford the rent I pay to my parents. I'll try and get an alterative found and set up in case that happens and I can only hope you guys will follow me to whatever other site I have to set up... but it feels unlikely that people will get a whole new account on a whole new payment provider just to support me on a website they might never have heard of...
But what can we do right now?
A petition you can sign (international but you do have to give your name, email, and postal/zip code):

PayPal (International): 1-402-935-2050
(numbers gathered from these posts X X X )
Don't know what to say on the phone? Here's a script written by timidtanuki:
Tumblr media
Creators have had their work removed off Itch.io with no warning and since it's been removed for 'breaking the rules' (rules that were suddenly in place with no warning) they aren't entitled to get their payouts. Just like other sites such as Youtube and Twitch and Etsy, Itch.io hold onto money from their users in a wallet and then give them payouts. So there is money creators have made, are owed, that Itch.io is not giving to them.
Tumblr media
People are recommending that if you still have works on Itch.io to turn down the revenue sharing to 0% so that Itch.io no longer takes a cut or your money if you no longer want to support Itchi.io finically but don't want to remove your works from their platform. X
Other Bluesky posts and calls to action I've seen:
Tumblr media
radiantg.bsky.social is asking for anyone on Itch.io who got their game deindexed, removed , or payouts turned off to reach out to them (espeically if you make explicit and/or LGBT+ games) for a piece of journalism about what is happening.
Tumblr media
sleepyhart.bsky.social is making a thread of all the games that Itch.io has censored/removed from their site search function. Obviously be aware this will include 18+ only games, games with sexual content and other dark or heavy themes.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
thetransfemininereview.com wants you to reach out to them if you're a trans creator on Itch.io who is being affected by this so they can make an accurate report. they say 'authors' in their post and I'm unsure if they also want game devs to reach out.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
dropdownbear.bsky.com wants you to reach out if you have purchased things on Itch.io that you can now no longer access because of this ban. they can include them in a report being filed with the Australian Consumer Commission as this may be a violation of Australian Consumer rights. If you are Australian you can no longer access things you purchased of Itch.io you can report directly with this guide.
It's a scary time for adult creators and sex workers. It's a scary time to be trans. Support creators. And if anyone knows of any alternate payment providers that allow explicit work, and/or alternate websites to Itch (and in case things get worse, also give me Patreon alternates please) where people can host, sell and/or offer paid subscriptions to writing, images, videos, audios, games and more please leave them in the replies. And please help share this post, the posts I'm linking too, and any other resources you can find.
EDIT: here's a part two of more resources, wasn't much point in adding them to this post when editing a post only changes it on my blog and not on any reblogs. which also means most people won't see this edit either, but i figured i'd but it in here in case because it does change it on your 'liked' version of the post so if anyone was saving the post for later in your likes you might see this edit.

Okay, so here’s the updated plans for fighting against youtube's new ai age policy and privacy violating rule (I believe in us!)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Plan 1. Black out and leave youtube/ youtube boycott
It’s a very simple plan, but this time we just leave until it’s fully reversed. That way YouTube doesn’t just ignore us and the original black out. We have to stand our ground and show them we aren’t going to give up. We have to last as long as possible and let their revenue drain until they concede or someone else comes in and makes another platform (that isn’t based on politics but the same ideas as the original YouTube)
Plus I would like to add some small extra things that will help with the blackout though. That being mass downloading YouTube content. Now this might be the easiest thing for certain people, but it’s something.
Mass downloading YouTube content can help in case there a couple of videos or channels you want to watch during the blackout. You can also use this to download new youtube videos from places like twitter since it won't count towards ads or view
(I use something called a ytdlp but there might be better options for you out there, there might even be built in ones in a web browser or two, just search around the place, you'll find it eventually)
There is also alternate YouTube apps that block ads (like Jdownloader and newpipe) that might work within the black out, but I'm worried that it would still count towards views and still help YouTube out in that smallest of ways, more research is needed, but it is an option (though I still recommended downloading new videos just to avoid the entire views thing)
Plan 2. Bugging the crap out of them.
Tumblr media
Now since they have a mail box for us to use, that can be used for our advantage here. So here’s what we do, send them letters asking them to reverse the decision, that way they will be overwhelmed by letters that have to eventually give up. Now I don't want you guys to send out slurs, curses or whatever. I need you guys to be kind and critical. I want you to point everything wrong with this and why it is destined to fail and leave the company crumbling
In addition to these letters, if at all possible, I want you guys to include photos of comments made by other people (Twitter, tumblr, whatever) criticizing this and making it known that it’s not just you guys who are angry, but people all over too.
Now we can also include emails in this, but that might be harder than excepted, but in case you do want to send in a email, you can send it that way
Tumblr media
I can't find any other way of sending them an email, but good to you if you do find it (though I would recommend a letter much more)
UPDATE, someone has pointed out that we should all send out our letters on a single day, Im taking around August 5th about a week before the thing actually rolls out and than maybe we’ll do another batch on the 8th just in case
Make sure you mass send a bunch of letters
WIP plan 3, legal bull
I wish I could say this plan was finished, but unfortunately, it is not at all. All we have to go for here to filing a complaint towards the FTC about this and or using what this user recommneds (though I can't fully say if it'll work or not)
This plan will be worked on as much as possible
Tumblr media
I want everyone if they can to spread to outside of tumblr, talk about it on twitter, facebook, blusky, youtube itself, this plan has to spread to as much people as possible.
I believe we can do our best and shine a light through these horrible times, we can be light in the darkness that will help others shine a burn a hole in this horrible system of censorship
I believe in every last one of you, I believe you can do good and spread good, because in your hearts, you are good
If you have any other ideas, let me know, cause i know more minds are better than one.
Good luck!

Not so gentle reminder that internet censorship “for the children” via KOSA and the SCREEN Act will only either cut those children out of this heavily internet-dependent world, or will encourage them to get online in ways that are extremely unsafe to people with an age appropriate lack of critical thinking skills.
It will likely effect their schooling to the point where they will have no choice but to give up their information, and if they don’t have a standard id (rare unless they travel with their families or are sick), they will likely have to use face id.
Face id. Of children. Through third party go-betweens that are heavily subject to data breaches. By ai scrapers and the like.
Do you want your children’s faces scraped for ai images for god knows what purpose? Call your fucking reps.
This will do nothing but endanger children and embolden the monsters that prey on them. Call your fucking reps.

If anyone's curious, Livejournal's "strikethrough" ban wave, which was the event that caused the creation of AO3, was generated by the exact same pressure that is currently causing the steam and itch bans.
A group of moral crusaders, in this case "Collective Shout", and in that old case "Warriors for Innocence" campaigned and put pressure on corporations to get rid of "obscene" content, which ended up deleting the works of many creators.
Thankfully in the case of livejournal and "warriors for innocence" we got the miracle of AO3 out of the ashes.
Hopefully something equally good will come from the bullshit steam and itch io adult conetnt purges.

Guys, it got so much freaking worse. KOSA is bad, but SCREEN is even worse, somehow.
"Sen. Mike Lee has introduced the SCREEN ACT, a bill that applies the "harmful to minors" standard used to ban LGBTQ+ books and resources in schools and libraries and apply it nationally to the internet.
Any site that has any amount of material "harmful to minors" would be forced to employ surveillance tech (biometric scans, ID uploads, background checks) to prevent minors from accessing "pornography."
You will not be surprised to learn that this is backed by the Heritage Foundation.
Unlike some of the state age-verification laws, many of which are being challenged in court, SC will be enforced by the FTC, which has the ability to levy fines, raid business and freeze bank accounts. Yes, meaning that even non-for-profits like Ao3 will suffer.
This is something for all US users to keep on their radar. Call your reps, call your senators, and spread the word to protect our archive!"
- When talking with Republicans play up the fact that this would force Elon to implement age verification systems on X (yes do call it X during the call). Elon's been threatening to primary Republicans who stand in his way so there's fear of him. Also play up concerns about "Liberals" doxxing people or Chinese hackers.
- When talking with Democrats, play up the connections to Project 2025 and suggest voters will not be happy to see Democrats siding with it.

Everytime one of these "protect women and girls" orgs go viral for doing something evil I like to take a look through their "wins" and see if they've ever helped protect even one single living woman or girl.
Collective Shout has:
Gotten a hotel to cancel a legal-aged porn star's reservation
Gotten a venue to cancel a Playboy Bunny themed party - again, attended by only adults
Pressured the Breast Cancer Foundation to pull ads that they found too sexy
got ads for a sex doll company removed because they felt the dolls resembled children
Got a beer coozy that had pinups of adult women printed on them discontinued.
Got an H&M ad pulled for back to school clothes for saying "Turn Heads"
Got Tyler the Creator banned from performing in New Zealand
I'm still scrolling and I have yet to see a single instance of a real, living woman or girl being protected by any one of their actions. They have on multiple occasions punished real, adult women for the audacity to be naked in some capacity they find distasteful.
Adding to this that they have lobbied to get a real pedophile released AND supported Cuties, which objectified and exploited real living children.
My main point is not that you have to love any of the things above, you can even hate them and wish they didn't exist. but they were able to dismantle the entire games industry and set a dark precedent regarding banks deciding who is morally good enough to spend money - and they aren't even helping any real women or girls in the process.

Cold take: Credit card companies should not have the unilateral power to decide what is or isn't acceptable art. Also fuck weirdo puritan terfs.
Art is based off this post
For the random terfs seeing this wondering which games I'm referring to, it's every single nsfw game on itch.io, putting tons of indie artists and game devs out of work.

I want so badly to hold onto the hope that all of this will blow over. I want to believe that YouTube will actually listen to its users and not implement its bullshit AI. I want to believe that KOSA won't make it to office and be enacted.
I'm so tired of being scared and stressed everyday, wondering if one day we'll all lose access to creations we love.
