Warning(s): Implied character death & violence
Series: Obey Me! -One Master to Rule Them All!-
The attack was over in seconds. Nothing more than a ragdoll, the bane of his existence lay limp in his arms. A grin, as bright as the future before him, illuminated his features. Nothing else brought the demon such elation than to watch his brother's plans fall apart.

Hey so I heard you're looking for Genshin requests 👀 how about reader taking a hit for Kaeya bc it was going to his right side (eyepatch so he can't see lmao) and Kaeya's just freaking out (you decide if reader lives or dies sdfjgjfb)
thank you to the lovely @cattycattitude for this angst. it fuels me.
i don’t know why I struggled so much with this ask,, i’m sorry it’s so late :sob: kaeya strikes me as a lot of things, deadly and efficient, among them. i feel like he’d have some pretty good ways to counter being hit on his right side, so i left the details about the actual encounter vague,, if i squeaked up somewhere please let me know ;;;
- please heed!!! tw: for blood/violence ment, possible drowning, ambiguous ending and descriptions of a panic attack
- kaeya/reader
Kaeya isn’t sure what the fuck happened.
The fight was a one-sided massacre.
It was supposed to be a simple, two-person commission from the guild. A quick cash grab to line your pockets, maybe even a means to get lunch with Kaeya once his shift was over; not the fucking death trap it turned out to be. Kaeya knew something was up when the field where the commission was is empty; the guild rarely ever got locations wrong.
He should have seen it coming-  of all people, he should have been the one to figure out it was a faux, a trap. A fake request to lure in and get rid of knights.
Kaeya curses under his breath as stray branches tear into his arms as he runs through the forest, his fingers curled around your shirt in a white-knuckled grip. He feels angry, he feels resigned, he feels useless. The scene keeps replaying in his mind every time he closes his eye, arrows flying at the two of you from every direction- from the bushes, the trees, the stone pillars, and you- you shoved him over, protected him- got shot for him-!
The memory of your face paling as you spit blood upon his chest, pained and feverish comes to the front of his mind and a strangled “why” leaves him in a quiet whisper. You’d smiled at him through bloody teeth, then, even placed a hand on his face, trying to comfort him in your sorry state before passing out.
Kaeya feels himself falter, suddenly overwhelmed with the sensation of your blood soaking against his skin, resists the urge to vomit, but forces himself to pick up speed again when he hears your pursuers clamor through the underbrush. He just needs to escape the forest, he just needs to leave, to get you back to Mondstadt safe and sound. To burn his clothes, burn his everything -
He hears rushing water and beelines left.
A waterfall. An escape.
Kaeya needs to escape.
He takes it.
The two of you burst from the tree-line bloody, and Kaeya wastes no time in throwing the two of you over the edge. He holds his breath and prays you have any to hold.
The wind roars around Kaeya as the world turns him on his head, whipping through his cheeks like pieces of a shattered sky as he lurches forward and into the air. One moment he’s watching the sun, having flipped onto his back to brunt the fall, shoulders tensed and fists clenched tight around you in preparation for the drop, and the next the sun is drowning, bubbles and blood blotting out the sky.
Numbness seizes him from the inside and out as his senses rush him all at once; his lungs are burning and his back screams something fierce, but he forces himself to move. He can’t stop, not now, not when you might still be alive. Kaeya briefly flails underwater against the current of the waterfall, fighting to right the both of you and drag you from its pull. Kaeya summons ice around him before latching onto it and letting it carry the two of you to the surface.
Kaeya breaks the surface of the lake, lungs taking greedy breaths, and struggles to drag you up with him onto the ice. He’s crying and gasping and cold and the ice digs painfully into his fingers, the adrenaline the only thing keeping him from falling apart at the seams, but those sensations quickly fall to the wayside, drowned out by the sheer need to see you breathing again.
He quickly covers your mouth with his own, fighting his way through his tears and the iron taste as he tries to breathe life back into you, an eye trained on your chest as he watches for your lungs to fill. Please. Compressions come next and the sight of your blood drifting across the ice scares him into trying harder - you’re dying, you’re dying and it was because of him and he isn’t strong enough to save you.
Oh, Seven, please don’t do this to him, too.

A solemn melody played, guiding his left foot forward to rest gently on its toes. His right followed behind, brushing along the floorboards in gradual pursuit. Arms raised gestured toward the bars that mocked him, a harsh reminder of a punishment unjust.
None could turn a blind eye to such an atrocity. The tumultuous progression of strings screamed for retribution, failing to be comforted by the soft chords of a violin.
His knees buckled and neared collapse. He held himself for a moment in reassurance as a fiery rage bubbled in his throat.
His body leapt into the air like a bird taking flight as the world spun around him. As his feet touched the floor, the song was no more.
In its place, an empty silence, roaring with applause.
