It’s occurring to me that Marika from Elden Ring and Paul Atreides from Dune share some pretty large portions of their story with each other

Ril, the Author of Finality, the Primeval of the Archive, the Daughter of Truth, and the Thrice-Dead Lich Queen. One of my favorite characters to draw!

SHE'S A CULTURAL ANTHROPOLOGIST?!?!?!
And her hobby is Archeology? Please marry me. Talk to me for hours about all the cool cultural stuff we are discovering. Speak to me in your pretty foreign languages. Infodump about the cool rocks you found.

Hands down the funniest cutscene in Wilds so far. A monster is attacking the logistics crew and they're so ride-or-die for this slab of meat it's trying to steal that they're outrunning it while carrying the meat, even dodging a tail swipe with a synchronized jump

Seen a bunch of people complain that the Monster Hunter Wilds story is too cheesy/corny. And like…yeah? This is the universe where you and your sentient cat companion fight dragons with questionable anime weapons made out of smaller dragons. The cheese is part of the ride, and removing it is a sin.

I think it's fun that the titular dragons of Dragon Age ARE mysteriously coming back from extinction, but that is (1) never explained and (2) never plot relevant. It's like if during a major apocalyptic event, you just randomly started seeing dodos again. like hey that's neat. anyways

Something about Davrin just fucking hurling this rock at this venatori is so funny to me. This happens in the finale of the game, and while I'm gonna keep this as non-spoilery as possible this man just fought a fucking colossal goddamn statue and singlehandedly brought it down, he pops out of the rubble like a jack-in-the-box and then just chucks this rock at this dude. He's so goddamn tired of this shit. Imagine being part of a magic eugenicist cult and dying via rock. So embarrassing. I love Davrin so much

Origins: the world is ending and you and your one remaining coworker are the only option left to save it.
II: the unavoidable tragedy of a queer friend group/polycule trying and failing to save their fucked up city
Inquisition: you went to a conference and accidentally ended up in charge of saving the entire world (again) with a team of colleagues who are (mostly) professionals and outstanding in their fields.
**
Veilguard:
Rook: hey, I suffered from “sudden field promotion” after “fucking everything up worse than it already was.” I’m putting a team together to kill at least one, maybe three, Gods
Seven of the most unwell people in Thedas: say no more, I’m in

I think a lot of people get so hung up on Barbossa's "I feel nothing" line that they forget the whole rest of his speech about the curse, and treat things like (for example) Ragetti reacting with pain at having hot coals dumped on him as "plot holes" or inconsistencies.
Barbossa's monologue describes an absence of pleasurable sensations -- such as sea breeze and human intimacy -- rather than a total lack of feeling, and outright states that he and the other cursed pirates are constantly living with the negative sensations of extreme dehydration, starvation, and sexual frustration. If they truly felt nothing at all, those deprivations wouldn’t be tormenting them. Ragetti's reaction to being burned is perfectly consistent with this!

I appreciate that Pirates of the Caribbean as a franchise makes a conscious decision to never explain its magic system.
“Limits” this, “interactions and rules” that.
Meanwhile POTC:
“This guy is cursed.”
How?
“Skeleton.”
Why?
“Who cares? Check it out we made the protagonist fight a sentient Spanish Frigate.”
And ya know what? It’s still a more effective magic system than Harry Potter.
