3.240 Debrief

While Desiree attended school and Sophia went to work, I hired contractors and designers to begin our home renovation. I told them we wanted to maintain the Craftsman style of the home and requested for the living room furniture to remain because with all the changes pending, we still want the house to feel familiar. Besides, me and Sophia decorated that house together. We don't want all our memories erased. The lot is medium-sized, so even though we'll have more rooms, they will still be fairly small. Some spaces, like the upstairs hallway, will remain cramped, but I still think we will be happy with the changes. Bonus points for the contractors not thinking any of our requests were too farfetched or impossible. Completing the work on time should not be an issue, they said.

At last, 3:00 rolled around, and we waited not-so-patiently at the front door for our baby to arrive. I don't know if we spooked her by standing there or if her day did not add up to the hype, but she didn't look as excited as I thought she'd be when she finally walked through the door. Maybe she was overwhelmed or tired. At least, I hoped that was the case. After hugs and kisses, we settled in the kitchen for the play-by-play while she had an early dinner. Thankfully, she was much more lively recanting the events, so it wasn't a total bust.

She wandered around, peering into windows until she found the principal's office. There, she found a nice, younger woman who preferred to be called by her first name, Hillary. She told Desi about all the clubs and after-school activities, gave her a brief rundown of her teacher, Mr. Hanks, and suggested she introduce herself before the first period began. After her speech, she asked if Desi had questions. Desi said she noticed other students wearing the same outfit and wanted to know if they had to wear uniforms. Miss Hillary clarified saying while no official uniform existed, they sometimes encouraged particular clothing choices on certain days. Like, today was career day, so everyone wore their letterman jacket. They also have a club shirt day. Do the students enjoy it as much as Miss Hillary thinks? Because if I was in school again, I wouldn't be down for it.

When Desi left the principal's office, she ran into Tami, who looked sad. I tensed up because it wasn't my place to divulge the potential reasons for her sadness, but I low-key hoped Tami would tell her why and give me more insight, heh. Desi, being the caring sim she is, asked if she was okay. Tami started whining about the outfit, saying she's tired of the uniform days, and that it felt like every day Miss Hillary found something else to make them wear. Between just wanting to wear her own clothes and Maia not letting her wear what she wants to wear, she's just sick of constantly being told what to do. I remember my friends complaining about their parents and sharing similar sentiments. Compared to them, I had all the freedom in the world but still felt pressured to behave a certain way. I started acting like a tough guy and making unnecessary demands at home. Teenage life is so volatile. They're still kids, but they're also not children anymore. That call for independence is so strong, and I sympathized with Tami. I was relieved she didn't bring up the drama at home, but is she upset about the uniform or is she masking her real pain? Desi, of course, was oblivious to all of this, so she tried to cheer her up by showing pictures of the birthday party. She's such a sweetheart.

The bell rang while Tami was still gushing about her horse, so they walked toward the classroom buildings together. Desi's first class was Business Concepts. It's cool they're teaching that kind of stuff in school now. We didn't have neat subjects like that. Maybe if we had, I would have done better. They went their separate ways, and Desi was bummed. But when she entered her classroom and saw familiar faces, she was so relieved. Savannah, her twin (Stacey), and Breanna were in her class. I was thrilled for her because, besides the boys and Tami, those are literally all the kids she knows, and now she has her entire social circle together in one place, more or less. Asking about Savannah and Stacey was so tempting, but I resisted. Good thing she didn't look for her teacher before class because he was late. Some students had to sit on the floor because there weren't enough desks.

Lunch followed the first period, but the career fair shortened it. That was something else we didn't have when I was in school, so I asked about it. She explained the entire school convened in the auditorium, where industry representatives manned booths and showcased their careers. There was a doctor who just stood around and watched, a lawyer, and another lady. She couldn't identify her outfit, but she looked sketchy, lurking in the corner all day.

She briefly caught up with her cousins before listening to the lawyer's presentation, but Lex thought the whole thing was lame and left. That was rude and unacceptable, and I considered talking to him about it when we get to Sulani. I had to remind myself he's not my kid. Besides, I don't want to mess with his and Desi's friendship and get her labeled as a snitch.

I asked how she liked the lawyer's presentation, and she said it was okay. The speaker was good, but the content didn't spark joy. Overall, she enjoyed the career fair and said if they keep having them maybe she can figure out what to do with her life. There's so much I wanted to say in that moment regarding her future, but we didn't need to discuss it right then. For the moment, she just needs to finish her dinner, do homework, and pack for vacation.

As always, me and Sophia tried to help as much as we could, but I'm not sure how much longer we'll be able to do that. The subjects were getting more difficult, but we got through it just in time for the season premiere of Game of Llamas. Alessia ran in as the opening credits were ending. Apparently, her kids don't care about the show and neither does her dude, so she raced over here to watch with someone who did. She probably just misses us because Less is usually perfectly fine watching TV by herself.

As the children of two only children, we didn't have the pleasure of growing up with cousins, aunts, and uncles. I love watching Less and Desi's relationship. They're friends, but it's more than friends. It almost feels sister-like, but it's not that either. Whatever it is, it's special and unlike anything she shares with us. It makes me even more glad Sophia suggested we got Less in on the youth potion plan. One day, Desi might go through something she doesn't feel comfortable telling us. I'm glad she'll have Less to lean on for a very long time.

Lex and Rutger were laying down on her bed cuddled together, Rutger was laying on her chest burying his face and Lex was playing with his hair.

Rutger groaned as he felt his phone vibrate in pocket he leaned up grabbing his phone answering the call, “Hello?”

Rutger’s eyes widen when he relized who was calling him, he got off the bed talking.

Lex watched as he talked through the phone not seeing his face and being able to tell if it was good or bad call.

“Thank you.” Rutger let out a breath as he ended the call, he ran a hand through his hair feeling really excited.

Lex got up off the bed walking over to him, “Rut my love what’s wrong?” Her voice seemed to snap him out of his trance and he spun around with a bright smile and wrapped his arms around her spinning her around.

Lex let out a laugh as he spun them around like crazy before gently setting her back down.

Rutger was beaming as he cupped her face, “No long distance baby.” Rutger vibrated with excitement.

“What?” Lex looked at him confused titling her head to the side.

“I got traded.” Rutger told her watching her face fill with realization, “to the devils.” Rutger was apart of the Tyler Toffoli trade and while he was exicted to be part of the Jets he was even more exicted to be apart of the devils, especially since the devils are near the islanders meaning being close with Lex and three of his best friends are all at the devils or drafted their he doesn’t see a better team.

“Oh my god.” Lex let out a laugh pressing her lips to his desperately as she realized they will only be a few miles away from each other instead of almost 3,000 miles.

“You’re stuck with me.” Rutger lovingly teased her as they pulled away to catch their breaths.

“I wouldn’t have it any other way.” Lex softly smiled cupping his cheek.

“Oh shit,” Lucas exclaimed as he came over. “You were suppose to duck!”

He gritted his teeth and breathed out each word slowly, “What gave you the stupid idea that I could?”

“You… you didn’t use the blind man’s trick with the drinks.”

What?

“Missus Kent!” his son screamed when he fell over completely. “Oh god, please don’t die!”

“Lionel!”

“Dad?!”

“Lucas what did you do?”

Four days. That is how long Lex can manage peace, quiet, and focus before he sets out to find the man of British intelligence. The same mission, but separate work. After all, there was only so much teamwork their nations expected before political interest won out. Yet still, Lex reasons that a fair bit of camaraderie couldn't hurt. Better to attribute it to his innate friendliness, than the image of Lucas' lips so prominently in his mind. It does not take long to track Lucas down. He's not a spy for nothing. Sitting outside of a bistro, the lights of Paris shining on his features, Lex watches him for a moment. Never has he seen a man so beautiful, with such a hideous personality. Finally, Lex breaks the silence, sliding into the seat opposite him. "Of all the bistros in Paris." Lex greets coyly, as if it is a coincidence and not a ploy on his part. "What are we drinking?" He asks, relaxing into his seat. His hand reaching for the bottle of wine at the table, inspecting the label.

before mike’s birthday was revealed as april 7 i headcanoned it as being december 20—i like the april but he also gives me winter baby vibes?

as for the rest of the party i definitely think dustin and lucas have autumn birthdays. i hc dustin as the oldest of the bunch, sometime in mid-september or MAYBE end of august at the earliest. then lucas sometime in november. for max i think she’s either born in january or april, no in between. it would be funny if she and mike were only a few days or weeks apart.

3.230 Taking you down

Alessia, Sophia, and I discussed birthday party plans last night after we returned home from dinner and decided a bowling party would satisfy everyone's requirements. The triplets didn't have anything specific they wanted to do, but Less wanted a place that was big enough for them to be independent yet small enough for us to keep an eye on them. Sophia just wanted everyone to have a good time. With all of that in mind, we settled on bowling. When we arrived, I thought it would be a good idea for us to take a family photo. We'd never done that before, and I wanted to capture the kids before they aged up. The picture came out nice, but I had to laugh and shake my head at the kids because the teenage energy was very strong. I'd been seeing hints of it with Desi over the last couple of days, but with all the kids together, it's undeniable we don't have babies anymore. Too cool boys and sassy little girls stared back at me, making me very proud yet terrified.

I was glad to see the place was not too busy, but knew that would change as the day went on. The ladies got everyone set up on our lanes while I checked out the party room to make sure everything was in order. The staff did a great job making the space look festive for us. With that off my mind, I went downstairs to join everyone in the games. Alessia filled me in on the arrangement. We had two lanes, and the kids insisted on a battle between them vs. parents.

"Do they really think they can beat us?" she asked.

"I don't think it matters who wins," I said. "As long as we have fun."

"Bump that! I want to win!"

First up was me vs. Desi. She had a little trouble with the ball, so I went ahead and took my turn while Less helped her.

Maybe the kids were onto something because I didn't do well at all. Did they know none of us had done this before? They say the first frame is always the worst, so let's hope my game improves throughout the afternoon. What I want to know is why my wife laughed at me. Hmph.

Desi waited until my turn ended to play. She tossed the ball down the lane granny-style and hit about half of the pins! She was so proud of herself, and so was I.

With the kids distracted, Less took her turn.

To be honest, she did very well. So far, she had the highest score, but those two pins taunted her. To be fair, that was the most annoying thing that could happen in bowling, heh.

The kids finally sorted themselves out and looked ready to play. Breanna stepped up to the lane, aiming to annihilate her mother. Less.

"These kids are going to murder us, aren't they," I said, sliding behind Less.

She laughed.

"It's looking that way."

A opens their coat and, while enveloping B, slings the material around them as well.

Lex and Rutger were out walking around Ann Arbor on one of their free afternoons going to get something to eat with some of their friends.

The wind started to pick up and it was more chilly and Lex slowly started shivering not thinking it was gonna get this cold and she already hates anything to do with cold weather.

Rutger frowned seeing Lex shivering and seeing the goosebumps forming on her skin.

He unzipped his oversized black puffer and pulled a side of the jacket around Lex pulling her againt him.

Lex happily hummed feeling the warmth coming from Rutger and happily cuddled closer to him as they continued their walk.

“Awww the love birds!” Gavin teased them laughing as Lex gave him the middle finger.

A Pirate’s Life For Eternity

Although I may or may not pick this up, I do have a world built for it. It’s a mix of Smallville and Pirates of the Caribbean. Essentially Smallville characters and lore and PotC lore mixed together.

Here are some things I have established in this AU, starting with our favorite pirate, erm, businessman:

Captain Leonel “Blackmane” Luthor

Born in 1675 in a small hamlet outside of Glasgow, Scotland to Lachlan and Eliza Luthor.

Abused by his drunken father who was a dockworker in Glasgow and neglected by his gin soaked mother.

Murdered his parents at the age of 19 in an ‘accidental’ fire and stole their life savings (which wasn’t enough to restart anywhere).

Stowed away aboard an English merchant ship called The Gloriana leaving for the New World in order to escape the authorities.

Half way through the voyage, was found and flogged for stowing away and stealing from the galley.

Became indentured to that merchant captain for five years.

Met his best friend, Morgan Edge, on the same ship.

In 1699, with Morgan’s help, mutinied against the captain and stole the crew and ship. Thus began his life as a pirate.

In 1700, met a merchant’s daughter, Lillian, in the new coastal city of Metropolis and fell in love with her. Marries her six months later and Alexander Luthor is born three months after that.

Leaves his family in Metropolis while he pillages up and down the eastern colonies with Morgan as his First Mate.

1702 he has an affair with a prostitute and sires Lucas whom he hands over to a midwife to raise for him. He murders Rachael Dunlevy.

1704 he has another affair with Lillian’s best friend, Pamela Jenkins, and lets her keep the child. It’s this child that Lillian realizes he’s being unfaithful.

Builds businesses in Metropolis and makes political connections that turns the English port into a safe haven for his crews.

1715 Lillian dies from a heart problem and curses her husband. He renames The Gloriana to The Red Lily in honor of her despite their falling out. He changes his flag to the skull and bones with a red lily in its teeth, and dyes his sails red.

Not long after Morgan acquires his own ship and goes his own way down in the Caribbean.

He makes Lex and Lucas cabin boys aboard his ship to introduce them into his way of life.

In 1720 he makes Lex his First Mate

1721 he steals the title of Pirate Lord of the Atlantic from the current one by attacking his ship and killing him. He learns a year later that Morgan has taken the title for the Caribbean.

He strives to become Pirate King.

1722 Lutessa Jenkins shows him up in a tavern, demanding a spot on his crew. Amused and impressed, he agrees.

Lucas and Lutessa eventually earn their own captaincy.

1724 The East India Company attacks Metropolis and focuses on the Pirate Slums. Many pirates are killed and Leonel learns his eldest has betrayed them, choosing to take a privateers life to hunt down pirates.

One of the ships he and Lucas hunts down has prisoners taken from the Slums. Among them is a woman named Martha Kent whom he knew from years ago.

She proves to be unyielding and honest, and knows how to handle him. Leonel finds himself attracted to her and takes her aboard.

He finds out her husband, a farmer, had died in the raid while trying to protect her and her son. She does not know what became of Clark.

She does not see Metropolis for four years as Leonel spends the time hunting his traitorous son. He falls in love with her and Martha is wary of his advances.

1728 He is attacked by an East India Company ship, surprisingly, captained by Martha’s son. Apparently he blames the pirates for the loss of his parents and had spent the last four years cleaning up Metropolis and the Atlantic.

Leonel manages to beat him in a ship battle but soon discovers that he’s dealing with a demi-god when the fighting is taken to the decks.

Martha stops them from killing each other and Clark learns it was Lex who had betrayed everyone that fateful day.

They work together to find Lex, Leonel promising to retire once he has revenge against his son.

1729 While Clark takes his mother back to Metropolis, Leonel catches up with Lex off the coast of North Carolina.

He loses the battle, his crew is slaughtered in front of him and Lex has his father tied to the main mast before scuttling the ship.

He drowns once his ship completely sinks but not before he sees the colors of Clark Kent on the horizon.

Post 1729

This is where more of the PotC lore comes in and Smallville’s Krypton lore is altered a bit…

Leonel is sent to Davy Jones locker when he refuses to sell his soul to the devil himself. He knows Lex will pay for what he’s done and although he would want to return to Martha, it is mostly unrequited love.

He suffers in the locker, a broken mockery of The Red Lily rests on a sandbar beyond his reach. He tries to swim to it, but it is endless and he drowns from exhaustion.

He finds himself alone on another sandbar some time later. There is no life and the sun never sets, always existing at the hour he died.

Soon enough the sandbar sinks or the sea level rises and he has no choice but to tread water. Eventually he drowns again trying to reach his ship or land, but the distance is endless.

Enough time passes and he gives up and just lays there on the sandbar, letting the locker drown him over and over again.

He had begged God and whatever gods there were to end his suffering. His pleas go unheard.

Then one day a small crab appears and he realizes it’s the familiar of a sea goddess he has only heard stories of.

He drowns one last time in the Locker.

He finds himself back on his ship, alone, but the gentle, cool breeze of the open sea tells him he is alive.

Cautiously he finds a goddess at the stern of his ship and makes a bargain with her.

Serve the god, Jor-El, and he would have his life and ship back. Fail and he would be returned to the Locker to drown.

She sends him back to Metropolis, his ship guided by the spirits of his dead crew until they reach port.

He eventually rebuilds his crew, finds out what he is to protect, reconnects with Martha and discovers he is cursed when Lutessa tries to kill him.

He hadn’t realized his bargain had been literal. He was to serve a god and the only way a mere mortal could do that is if he was immortal.

Emissary of Jor-El

He serves Jor-El faithfully while still living his life as a pirate and marrying his mortal son’s mother. But time eventually catches up to him and he learns the second curse his bargain has bestowed him.

He outlived his children and grandchildren. He outlived Martha. He outlived his closest friends and comrades. He outlived piracy and finds himself wandering as the world ages and he does not.

He becomes a mercenary, a revolutionary, a wanderer, a teacher, a soldier, and eventually a businessman.

He comes to believe in reincarnation as he finds his first wife and his children again. He encounters Martha Kent years later and falls in love with her again.

He learns Kal-El is reborn after a century without him.

He still serves Jor-El when he is needed and once more he has to betray his family to protect the god’s son.

This second time around, he wants to fail and suffer an eternity in the Locker.

Martha keeps him from doing so and he begs Jor-El to let her follow him through time or release him.

Jor-El refuses to release his servant but gives him a boon when he succeeds in helping Kal-El ascend this time.
