Ive seen a lot of people saying that Till is mute now, but im not sure I agree

Edit (July 4th): yeah so um…this aged poorly

1. There are other reasonable explanations for why Till wouldn’t speak to the children

What occurred to me when I was looking at this scene was whether or not the children even know how to speak? Presumably, they would learn how to speak while in Anakt, but they hadn’t been taken there yet. So even if Till spoke, they might not understand him. This is supported by the fact that the images still drew had no words (except for “tunnel”). These children possibly would not be able to understand any spoken or written language. Another reason could be to hide his identity, but that makes less sense in this scenario.

2. What would be the cause for his mutism?

The two explanations I’ve seen are that his vocal cords got injured when he was shot, or it’s a result of trauma. The injury is possible, but it likely wouldn’t have damaged his throat based on the placement of his scars, and the source of the scarring is still unclear. It could’ve been from the shot or trying to remove his name from the side of his neck. A result of trauma, however, makes absolutely no sense to me. I think it would be contradictory to his character because a lot of his trauma surrounds him being silenced. He was muzzled all the time because he would lash out. Now, he’s finally able to speak freely and rebel how he wants against the aliens without being made fun of or turned into a spectacle. I don’t see why he would feel compelled not to speak now that he has this freedom.

3. In Alien Stage, it’s not unusual for a scene to be silent where people would normally be talking

Most of the time, characters don’t really speak in alnst scenes. The few exceptions being monologues and when Mizi spoke to Luka at the beginning of Karma. Characters speak mostly to communicate their feelings or ideas in the story and not to explain what is happening. There are a lot of scenes where people would be speaking, but instead just have sound effects. And also, they hire vas separate from the singers. Overall, this series is not at all dialogue driven and giving Till lines may have required hiring another voice actor

4. Stupid Reason: He’s credited as having a voice

So Akugetsu (my goat) is credited as Till’s va for the 3 seconds of breathing at the end of Karma, which is kind of funny on its own. If we’re going very literally here, they credit Till as having a voice. I acknowledge this is semantics and very stupid but I did want to point it out regardless.

Like Luka’s breathes….A LOT…at the beginning of Wiege and as Hyuna is dying, but the va who did that is not credited. It only has Hyuna’s voice. Yet they credited Till as having a voice when he breathed for even less time.

I welcome people to (respectfully) argue with me on this in the comments. I would like to hear other interpretations.

this is not a conspiracy. it’s not gatekeeping. it’s just… how mental health works.

adolescence is chaotic. your brain is still cooking. your personality is not done yet.

every single teen has mood swings, identity shifts, intrusive thoughts, emotional meltdowns, and a deep sense of alienation.

that’s literally called puberty.

you are not the exception.

and yet here you are, claiming full-on clinical disorders that take years of evaluation, therapy, observation, and trauma history to diagnose… because you relate to a 30-second tiktok and your friend group told you it “sounds right.”

that’s not self-awareness.

that’s romanticizing suffering.

and it’s actively harmful.

harmful to yourself — because you’re probably mislabeling something real (like trauma, neurodivergence, or stress) with a disorder that doesn’t actually fit.

harmful to others — because you’re spreading misinformation and making life harder for people who live with these disorders for real.

harmful to the community — because now actual patients are being doubted, laughed at, or not believed because people like you turned mental illness into an aesthetic.

also? and i cannot stress this enough:

you don’t need a label to be valid.

you don’t need to invent a diagnosis to justify struggling.

you don’t need to turn your symptoms into a little personality blurb to be taken seriously.

your pain is still real.

your story still matters.

you are allowed to suffer without becoming a caricature of someone else’s disorder.

and before you say it:

“but what if i really do have it and can’t access a doctor??”

then sit with that uncertainty. do your research. keep track of your symptoms. seek help when you can. but don’t publicly label yourself with a clinical disorder you haven’t been assessed for just because you’re scared of being “unreal.” that fear? it’s valid.

your diagnosis? not yet.

mental illness isn’t quirky. it’s not trendy. it’s not your coping mechanism.

it’s brutal.

it eats you alive. it makes people leave you. it makes you afraid of your own brain. it ruins relationships.

and if you’re lucky, you get support.

if you’re not, you get silence.

so if someone who actually lives with that disorder tells you that what you’re describing doesn’t match it?

they’re not attacking you. they’re correcting you.

if that makes you mad… maybe it’s because deep down, you know you’re wrong.

A quick note of reassurance for any and all mutuals. As a heavy nonsharer, I will NEVER pick one person over another if you both ship with the same characters. Friends are friends and if someone is trying to create a rift between you and another person with the same f/o, that is not okay. You should not have to decide between people you enjoy being around because of the HARMLESS love of another. This is a safe space for all of you, I value you over your relationships. I see you all as equals.

The same goes for you to me, I will never pressure you to stop interacting with someone else because they ship with one of my f/os, that is toxic as fuck and disrespectful to you. If you do not want someone interacting with another person, that is your problem, and you should cut them off because you shouldn't be treating them that way. You don't do that to a friend.

This isn't about boundaries and comfort, it's about how you treat peers. That would not fly in real life, so it should not become a standard here. If you need to have a heavily curated friend group for your safety, then do that, but do NOT put that onto them. You are capable enough to be online, so be capable enough to not demean and control the people around you. Filtered tags and content exist, and they work if you use them correctly and can accept that you may see something that says "this is blocked content, it's from this tag or phrase" and KEEP SCROLLING WITHOUT OPENING IT. YOU have to block and avoid, not them. This isn't "my friend is interacting with a bad person and I need to warn them." This is "I don't like this person because we both like the same character, I don't want my friends near them because of my own opinions."

Some people need to genuinely get off the internet and think about what they're doing, and shockingly it's NOT the people who want to be kind and believe trauma survivors OR the trauma survivors in question. :) As it turns out, wanting to give people the benefit of the doubt—even if you believe they're a misinformed kid—is a hell of a lot better than making a bait account to mock trauma survivors and those who support them! One of those things is a good deal more fucked up than the other! Imagine thinking people are stupid for...trying to interact with you in good fucking faith!

And this isn't even speaking on the trauma survivors harmed by you mocking them but you don't care because you don't believe them. ;)

This trend of bait accounts needs to die yesterday actually. Absolutely wild behavior. Unfuckingbelievable.
