I'm a little shocked that people didn't expect Twilight's reaction to Yor reaching out to him. I am as much of a TwiYor fan as most people are, but honestly, it's a stretch to say they're anywhere near ready to try to 'make this real'.

One of the draws to me for this series was the tension between them being drawn out. I knew upon coming into this series that their relationship would be frustrating and agonizingly slow. It is and it will continue to be, by the design of the characters and narrative.

I came into the story not only anticipating that dynamic for them, but exceptionally pleased with how Endo has been portraying their inabilities to either connect with others or themselves due to their conditioning. I don't fault anyone for not giving with the pacing but in my opinion there is no other way for this to go.

Twilight has dedicated his entire being to having no desires, interests, dreams. His sense of self was burned right along with all his worldly belongings and his name. As far as he's concerned, he is a machine for The Machine.

It's been made quite clear that he is struggling with cognitive dissonance worming it's way into his mind. His body reacts to Yor without his expectation or understanding(infamous collapse to the floor), when he thinks he often has Freudian Slips around his verbiage(*I will protect Yor* instead of *We will need to be careful, to not compromise the mission*), and he outright goes against all training he has ever received regarding active combat(*kill all SSS in hot pursuit* yet he leaves Yuri alive so Yor doesn't grieve).

I don't think he's unaware of these things. He's *painfully* aware that he's already getting too close, too emotionally dependent on Yor, even if it's truly just crumbs of support. He notices it happening when it happens, and his only choice he's ever had is to bury it and move along.

*The man trusts no one by the nature of his very survival.*

He doesn't seem to understand that Yor is truly romantically interested in him, but why would he care to? It's completely irrelevant to his goals and purpose. Plenty of people have already said that he likely doesn't even entertain any thoughts of her desiring him because the last time he tried to push her boundaries, she *rocked his shit*. I have a feeling that he could tell Yor wanted to have a heartfelt conversation, but, that's simply not a risk he can take after realizing how dangerous his current attachment to her is.

His misunderstanding in their conversation was repetitive and looping. He's beyond skilled at maneuvering discussions how he sees fit, that's his whole career. I doubt he missed every signal that she cares about their arrangement and family, I think he chose to double down and ignore them.

The man isn't stupid, he's likely quite uncomfortable, even fearful of the effects her companionship has already had on him. She had asked what the plan after Anya's graduation would be and instead of asking what she meant, he avoided the question almost entirely. He can't bring himself to think that far ahead since he's certain that 'Loid Forger' would be long dead before that question required an actual answer.

Progress is not linear. People do not develop cleanly. We've watched him accidentally let his girls under his skin for the last 6 months and it's gotten bad enough that he's receding back into his shell now that he knows how dangerously close he is to *getting himself killed*. Before he can have any kind of epiphany of his feelings or interests for the future, his entire coping strategy of depersonalization has to be challenged so heavily that he has no choice but to admit he's compromised.

As people heal, they tend to swing on a pendulum of improvement and regression. He's going to desperately cling to what has kept him safe for his entire life until this point until it doesn't work anymore.

And a further point, we have no clue what was the longest time he's been in a honey trap relationship before the canon begins but it's at least well implied that he was with Karen for enough time for her to be asking about marriage and commitment. I'd go as far to say even someone as vapid as Karen(given what little thoughts Twilight seemed to have of her) wouldn't be thinking seriously about rings before 3-4 months. So let's say they were together for 6 months.

Twilight can and has kept full detachment from his Honey Marks many, many, many times before. Let's say 6 months was the longest. If Twilight left now, I'm certain it would sting him and he would use it to continue his long pattern of self-hatred, but he'd likely be able to compartmentalize it by this point.

It's only now that he's starting to slip in too deep to waters he's never tread before.

Personally? I'm excited to see him suffer inside as warmth and love burrow their unwelcome tendrils into the cold black thing he has that was once considered a heart. The only way we get a version of this man willing to share his soul with anyone else, is for him to literally have no other choice than to accept it.

i'm just gonna call it that we need to practice mindful tech usage and security and i don't mean screentime tracking apps and vpns or whatever i mean starting from early childhood and going into adult wellbeing culture to encourage tactile hobbies and long-form work and the understanding of online devices as commodifying the user with spyware

i'm talking throwback word processors with the same ergonomics as regular smart devices for general educational work and dedicated subjects for working with digital technologies so you have theory in practice and then applying that theory in a contemporary work context. that's where you learn applications, digital safety, and how to implement the generative tools. separately. once you've already developed the critical analysis and expressive skills first.

i have been basically addicted to the internet since i was 13, i've had ups and downs with it, but i've always had a little bit of over caution when it comes to information and identity online. i overshare what i chose to but i think the break down of privacy as a norm when it comes to personal data tracking is genuinely awful.

i like algorithms in some places but i do not think this super-customisation is worth this panopticon of tech.

have you heard about how phone locations can still be triangulated when the phone is off? this is incidentally why if you are gong to protests and you think you are in danger it might be best to leave it at home. but generally if you want to avoid audio and video being used to build a marketing profile you can just switch it off and pop it in a bag or the next room. but with fb trying to make voice command smart glasses a thing (after snapchat and google both failed to sustain the same product) it bears caution that so called wearable tech such as glasses, pendants, watches, earbuds, ect.... even outside of smart cars there's the risk of passive listening for user marketing profiles. we already have location based advertising, ads that track your useage to predict your menstrual cycle or life events, public ads that react to nearby phones

i am going off on this tangent to say that i am not naïve to the fact that we already have to constantly dig into 'dark patterns' of settings to opt out of surveillance and commodification. i'm aware that the easiest path is to do nothing and use the shortcut machines even when they don't actually help or save much time or effort beyond selling you tools that already exist with a new price tag. i'm aware that the plagiarism software with no idea what it's talking about and runs on resource wasting pollution and underpaid remote human labour that also gets slapped in every function role despite basically being fancy autofil and pixel pulp not only has all of those issues but the lay person is either unaware or does not care and companies only care that it is a new way to pretend they're innovating. i know all this just like i know that mass automation is just exploitation unless it is balanced with social structures for all that mean emancipation from the need for labour.

but while i think all tech can be used for good, facilitating human connection across physical distance, carefully trained data analysis on a rapid large scale, removing the tedium of technical drudgery where needed, just providing light entertainment. but we have gotta be better about legislating, moderating, and use culture.

use culture goes hand in hand with convenience. it's why vinyl records are still trendy, not only are they good at what they do, but there is enough cool factor that the inconvenience becomes a feature. CDs are also convenient still! but CDs do not have the cool factor so they get wiped out by the convenience of streaming. playlists in streaming have a cool factor that radio does not despite radio still being convenient. and remember no matter how much streaming claims you can pay to opt out of ads that's usually something that you get payment tiered out of eventually so the convenience facilitated by accessibility is debatable the longer time passes.

looping back to my original point, if we can encourage an understanding of digital privacy as something you shouldn't be complacent about, that you shouldn't have to pay for tools to get out of the spotlight, that it is immensely embarrassing to be too into exploitation by tech companies and make that the problem of everyone around you. user control should be synonymous with convenience. customisability/personalisation through individual control rather than passive scraping. you can still commodify decorative tech.

we gotta make slop and babying algorithm brained tech usage cringe. people don't care to hear that it's immoral so just make them feel uncool at this point. because it is embarrassing that you have the universe of resources at your fingertips and you're too scared to do anything with it other than beg it to put words in your mouth. who cares if you're chronically online or too busy irl to learn a new skill. you are like a little bird pecking at it's own reflection, that's sad. try saying something mediocre and honest. we gotta stop tap dancing into technofeudalism just because we're too complacent to actually talk to each-other.

Hi!!, I wanted to request Damian Wayne reacting to finding out that the reader has an entire notebook dedicated just to his drawings, and also reacting to the reader being extremely embarrassed and shy when Damian discovers his secret.

Damian didn’t know what to expect when he had opened your notebook there you’ve been so secretive about, but seeing page after page filled with draft drawings he’s made and discarded when they didn’t exactly go to plan.

It didn’t matter if if was be sketches of his pets, siblings, his father, Alfred or even some of your doing your own thing, they were all there regardless of any deeper reasoning.

It was got obvious that the deeper Damian went he was greeted with older and older drawings back when he was just starting to get good at drawing and what style he was or wasn’t comfortable with. It was almost as though the notebook was a testament to his development as a growing artist.

So as he sat on your bed, making his way through the notebook and found more and more drawings he thought he discarded ages ago. He was flattered to say the least but didn’t understand why you’d dedicate an entire notebook to him and his artwork. Damian was certain that you had your own reasons for doing so, but until then he would indulge the feelings of nostalgia build within him as he recognised his growth in each piece he’s ever made.

It wasn’t long before you came back into the room from a quick trip to the kitchen for a drink, your breath had caught in your throat upon seeing Damian with your notebook in hand, looking as though he was at an interesting plot point in a book.

‘Damian?’ You asked. ‘Why do you have my notebook? Where did you find it? Give it back.’

Damian shuts the book and sets it aside as he then looks you in the eye. ‘I should be asking you why you’re the one with an entire notebook dedicated to my drawings?hmmm?’ He threw back at you with a calmness that had you a little unnerved.

‘Drawings? Yours? Are you sure they’re not mi-‘

‘They’ve all got my signature at the bottom of the left hand corner.’ Damian interrupted you as you worry about his reaction. Did he think you were weird, a creep, a freak? You didn’t know as Damian had a great grasp at keeping his true feelings hidden.

You sighed, burrowing your burning face into your hands in embarrassment, not wanting to look him in the eyes as you admit your secret. ‘Fine. They are your drawings in that notebook but I only kept them because I really, really like your drawings and didn’t want them going to waste.’ You told him as you awaited for the worst, only to hear a bit a shuffling coming from him before a hand was placed on your shoulder.

‘I assumed that was the case.’ Damian said softly as he gently peeled your hands away from your face and held them. You blinked at him, not expect in this kind of reaction from Damian. ‘Your not creeped out? Embarrassed? Nothing?’ You asked meekly, still feeling a little embarrassed about the whole thing.

Damian sighs as a small smile tugs on his lips. ‘No, if anything it’s kind of…endearing come to think of it as it acts as a time capsule showcasing my development in skill, style and technique.’ He says before adding. ‘It’s an honour knowing that you admire my drawings so much to make a notebooks about them but I’ve got just one request.’

‘What is it?’ You replied, anxiety spiking back up once more.

‘Just ask me to draw something for your notebook rather than settle with half finished draft sketches.’ Damian said as he grabbed the notebook from behind him and found a blank page and dedicated the next hour or so sketching an utter masterpiece.

You and Adam probably wait awhile after your wedding until having kids, he wants to have his party lifestyle a little longer, and cmon, who can blame him?

At first he isn’t so sure, I mean, a small ball of flesh that just cries wasn’t the most entertaining thing to him… But he’ll do it for you

But the moment you tell him your pregnant, something in him clicks.

He’s very invested in the kids before their even born, he’s reading all those cheesy and old baby books constantly, cause honestly, he’s not as prepared as he’d thought he’d be

Simply because I see Adam as both a boy dad and a girl dad let’s say you two have twins 😛

He’s a good dad not gonna lie, but let’s be real, he tried to make at least one of his kids say “feces” as their first word… yeah, you weren’t too happy. 😀

Growing up, he definitely spoiled his girl and roughhoused with his boy, maybe a bit too much…

He was definitely a baseball or softball dad

Considering Adam’s foul language, they definitely grew up at swearing at a young age, but it stayed in the house dw

As the kids grew into their early teens they discovered their shared their dads powers — and bitch was through the roof about it

Adam started training them on how to use their powers to their liking, but also taught them the safety of them. He was actually a pretty good teacher ngl.

Lucifer

Obviously, from his past marriage with Lilith, he already had his first kid, so he was ready — he was just waiting for you to be as well

So when you were, he was stoked !

He was very aware and attentive during your pregnancy, trying to not make the same mistakes he did the first time around

He’s also very understanding about mood swings and he WILL go out in the middle of the night to get you cravings, he doesn’t have to, but he will

But when you both bring another daughter Morningstar into the world, Charlie is thrilled to have a younger sister!

She definitely babysits a lot, and the child definitely spends a lot of time in the hotel

Luci dedicates certain times of the day when he can not and will not have meetings or projects to be working on so he can dedicate time to both of his daughters.

He loves asking your daughter how her day was, and how schools going, but he also asks how her friends are to stress that grades aren’t the only thing that matter

As your daughter grows, she starts to develop Lucifer’s powers, only a small fraction — considering how powerful he is, but he’s stoked that not one, but now both of his daughters have his powers!

He’s been through training them before with Charlie, so he’s pretty skilled on how to do it now, but he tends to stress to your daughter the usage of the powers and the rights and wrongs are far more important than the strength you have

Vox

Vox was in no rush to have kids due to the current workload for VoxTech, but if you wanted them, all you had to do was ask

Vox, like Adam, couldn’t really wrap his head (or screen ig??) around the concept of a child until they were in his arms.

Vox wasn’t really sure how to handle a newborn, older kids were different, but this..? Maybe this wasn’t right for him…

It broke his heart every time he heard his son sob as a new born, and to be honest, he wasn’t sure what to do.

It’d be late at night and Vox would get out of your shared bed to go make sure the baby would stop crying before you’d wake.

He’d try everything, singing, rocking, bottle, changing the diaper, toys, everything. And it wouldn’t stop.

It’s not until you stir in your sleep and hear everything, you go to your son’s crib and simply hold him and he stops crying immediately, you set your son down and go back to sleep. Vox is literally amazed.

As your son ages into the ages of 6 and up is when it starts to get easier for Vox, by the time Vox can even slightly have a conversation with the kid it gets easier, the communication is a lot more clear

He doesn’t have a lot of time to play with his son due to VoxTech, so usually Vox will keep his son in his lap as he works in his office, he’ll even ask his son business questions! Even when he only gets gibberish back, he’ll take it. Hey, don’t judge him, client feedback is important.

As his son ages into his teen years, Vox starts turning a bit strict, he needs his son to be the coolest fucking kid in school, so Velvette tailors him a shit ton of clothes and Vox makes sure his son always has the newest gadget. Vox also is strict about keeping grades up, he wouldn’t ever take anything away for a bad grade, but your son may get a bit of lecture..

All of this is building up to something though, Vox really wants your son to take over VoxTech in his adult years, so he wants to make sure his son is prepared and experienced in the new world he’d enter, if he doesn’t want, Vox gets it, he may be a bit pushy though, but Vox has been in that place so he won’t push too hard.

At around the age of 15, your son developed Vox’s hypnosis powers.

Vox teaches your son how to use this to his advantage, like for example, VoxTech, but he also stressed there’s a time and place, and to not use it on someone you truly care about. Strategy is everything.

Is Vox the perfect parent? No. But no one is. But he genuinely has so much love for his son, and tbh he wants more kids…

Understanding System 1 and System 2 Thinking.

I have realized that for me to form a new habit, I have to constantly fight against System 1 behavior (checking my phone first thing in the morning, impulsive eating etc). By fighting against it, I mean reminding myself of my intentions, taking time to ask myself why I really need another brownie. It is difficult at first but understanding the differences between System 1 and System 2 can help us make better decisions and develop healthier habits. For example, recognizing that binge eating is a System 1 behavior can lead us to implement System 2 strategies, such as meal planning and mindful eating, to counteract it.

Tips to Engage System 2:

Pause and Reflect: Before making decisions, take a moment to consider the consequences.

Create Routines: Establish structured routines that require conscious effort initially but can eventually become automatic.

Set Clear Goals: Define specific, achievable goals to guide deliberate actions.

Practice Self-Control: Develop self-discipline through regular practice and reinforcement.

Likewise an iconic character. Let me tell you that the man was smooth. Even at the start when everyone had no CHARISMA skill due to my rules, he still managed enough rizz to catch Lilac's attention in an extremely chaotic household (linked are only a few of their greatest hits), and to emerge a surprising contender.

Hell, there were times when even this demisexual and dead inside Watcher was fanning herself and going "...Sir" 🤭

During the second round he rocked a cowboy get-up, weathered insults from guest star Leonardo Harper with aplomb and class, and solidified his strong position by finishing in second. After his third round date, he started this round in fourth place and thus with a really good shot of making it to the final three.

While on paper I think that he and Lilac had more summertime romance/"hot fling to get her back on her feet and believing in herself again after a bad breakup" vibes, it was potentially the method acting bug that did the most damage. The CLAIM TO BE CRIMINAL MASTERMIND interactions were seriously something else. And while the other pixels reacted negatively, he never actually lost relationship points due to it - although Delphine did develop a FESTERING GRUDGE.

However, if he was doing that and LYING ABOUT CRIMINAL CAREER with what felt like every other sentence (I swear that I am not exaggerating), he obviously had less opportunities to make his case to Lilac. I really did try, @igglemouse. I swear to the Old Watchers and the New 😅. I removed MISCHIEF as a liked activity. I added DECEPTION to his disliked conversational topics. I cheated down his MISCHIEF skill but the man was clearly going for that future role of his - and we have to respect the dedication (or something).

Of course, were this regular gameplay and he were my pixel, I would have just cancelled all those interactions and queued up a bunch of conversational topics not involving him proclaiming himself to be Michael Corleone. But before I started this challenge, I promised myself that I would not interfere with the game and dictate either the contestants or Lilac too much, otherwise it would be me choosing the winner and not her/the pixels themselves etc.

And so we fare the man, the myth, the legend (and the 'stache) well. But not before Lilac gets her revenge on all those MISCHIEF interactions.

I swear that my recaps for his household days pretty much wrote themselves - there was never a dull moment with him about. Lilac and I both look forward to his future ventures, and wish him all our best.

For Mister's build, I kicked out Vanessa Jeong (listen, it's not my fault that Del Sol Valley has hardly any lots with which to work) and revamped what was clearly a build before EA started outsourcing them to creators. What's left is this bachelor pad.

Not really worthy of a large picture because the outside isn't very impressive. But the inside (or the back deck) is where the party happens.

I figure that at one point in its life, this was a modest family home before whoever's renting it to Mister (or even the man himself) knocked out the master bedroom and converted it to a home cinema, courtesy of that Don Lothario kit.

Also what was likely the second bedroom is now an ensuite and a gym. Even if Mister hadn't picked up the ACTIVE trait while in my save, you gotta maintain the six (or even eight?) pack.

But the kitchen is likely the original and is probably my favourite that I've built in a while.

However, after seeing Rise!Leo teleport and use his showboating as a strategic distraction, 2012!Leo develops a grudging respect. He recognizes a chaotic effectiveness in his methods and, despite his flippancy, can’t deny Rise!Leo’s skill and ability to unite his team.

Observing Rise!Leo outside of combat, 2012!Leo is quietly impressed—and a little jealous—of how he supports his brothers without overbearing control. He realizes for the first time that leadership can actually be fun.

2012!Leo is disarmed by his counterpart’s unpredictable yet effective leadership, realizing the flair and humor are just a cover for genuine reliability.

2012!Leo is both impressed and unsettled. This freer version of himself makes him question his own identity, which is defined by discipline and duty, and wonder if he missed out—or if that weight was necessary to make him who he is.

What 2012!Leo thinks of Rise!Raph

“That’s their Raph?! He’s enormous! And he was their leader? He seems so … openly emotional. Our Raph bottles it up until he explodes; this one just feels things, loudly. He’s clearly strong, and fiercely protective, which I respect. But his leadership style, if it was based on that much overt emotion—I don’t know how that would work. Still, you can’t fault his dedication.”

2012!Leo finds Rise!Raph an anomaly, shocked by his immense size and former leadership role. Accustomed to his own brother’s anger, he finds Rise!Raph’s open emotionality unprofessional, as it conflicts with his entire understanding of command.

Leo expects another hothead, but is thrown off by this Raph’s gentle nature. He leads with a kind authority that messes with Leo’s head, making him wonder if his own Raph could have been that type of leader if things had been different.

Leo watches this Raph with a mix of admiration and envy, amazed to see him lead so well. Instead of power struggles, a confidence and genuine care unite the team, making Leo wonder if the problem wasn’t that his Raph couldn’t lead, but that he never gave him the space to try.

What 2012!Leo thinks of Rise!Donnie

“Their Donnie is … theatrical. Extremely so. The tech is undeniably advanced, perhaps even more offensively geared than our Donnie’s, but the dramatic pronouncements? The constant need for flair? It seems inefficient. Our Donnie is logical, sometimes to a fault; this one seems to prioritize performance. I wonder about his focus under pressure. The intellect is clearly there, though.”

Leo finds Rise!Donnie excessively theatrical. While his advanced tech is impressive, the constant dramatic pronouncements are distracting. Leo values efficiency and focus, making him question how this performative counterpart handles stealth, and whether his style overshadows his obvious intellect.

This Donnie’s genius makes Leo’s own Donnie seem safe; his tech is less about problem-solving and more about chaotic invention. Leo respects the brilliance but is unnerved, questioning if he could be trusted in a crisis like his own brother. Despite this, he admires how he owns his eccentricity.

Initially, Leo finds him chaotic and dramatic, but he soon discovers a focused, self-assured mind beneath the flamboyance that gets results. He begins to respect how Rise!Donnie never apologizes for his intelligence, thinking his own Donnie could use some of that confidence.

What 2012!Leo thinks of Rise!Mikey

“Another Mikey … and he has mystic fire chains? He’s even more overtly out there than ours, if that’s possible. The ‘artistic’ angle is new. While our Mikey is a distraction, this one seems to weaponize his creativity in a very literal sense. Is he ever serious? He’s got the heart, I can see that, but the discipline …”

Leo observes this other Mikey with a mixture of apprehension and curiosity. His whimsical use of dangerous mystic powers is unsettling to him. While he sees the same boundless energy and heart as his own brother, it’s channeled into chaotic, creative expression instead of disciplined ninjutsu—the opposite of the order and control Leo values.

Leo can’t help but smile, seeing so much of his Mikey in him. But where his own brother is often brushed off, this Mikey shines and is respected. Leo feels a pang of guilt, wondering if he has underestimated his own brother all this time.

Leo sees the raw creativity and mystic energy, but what catches his attention is the respect this Mikey commands. He’s still a goofball, but he’s heard. Leo realizes he’s spent years dismissing his own Mikey’s ideas because they seemed silly, and wonders if, given this version’s competence, his brother has always deserved more credit.

What 2012!Raph thinks of Rise!Raph

2012!Raph is first struck by Rise!Raph’s immense size. He expects a macho rival but is thrown off by his counterpart’s calm, more soft-spoken, and fiercely protective nature.

2012!Raph is confused by Rise!Raph, who wears every feeling on his sleeve and leads with his heart. He expected a fellow hothead but instead finds a counterpart who is surprisingly gentle and sensitive despite his immense strength.

The way Rise!Raph protects his brothers lands hard. 2012!Raph softens, realizing that maybe strength isn’t just about fists and fury.

2012!Raph watches Rise!Raph openly listen and care, defusing arguments and offering hugs without a second thought. He’d never admit it, but the guy has his respect.

Rise!Raph is gentle with his brothers, carrying his strength as the tank with humility. 2012!Raph is surprised to discover that he genuinely likes him a lot.

It also makes him wonder what kind of brother he could have been if he hadn’t always felt the need to be the angry one.

What 2012!Raph thinks of Rise!Leo

“This pretty boy is their Leo? He’s all talk and flashy moves. ‘Face man’? Give me a break. He’s cracking jokes while he’s supposed to be leading? Our Leo’s bad enough with the Space Heroes obsession, but at least he tries to be serious. This guy seems like he’s always trying to be the star of the show. Those swords are fancy, but can he actually fight without teleporting away?”

Raph instantly dismisses Rise!Leo as a poser, annoyed by his constant quips and flashy fighting style. Unlike his own serious leader, Raph doubts this version has the grit for a real fight and would just teleport away from trouble.

Ugh. This guy? He’s like if Mikey and Leo had a baby and raised it on a diet of pure sarcasm. Raph is infuriated by this sarcastic show-off. But when he sees him working hard to protect his brothers while pretending not to care, he’s hit with a damning realization: that behavior is all too familiar.

Raph tries not to roll his eyes at this Leo’s constant jokes. But the more he watches, the more he sees the pressure and instinctual leadership behind the humor. He realizes this smart-mouth isn’t just a clown—he has bite, making him wonder if his own Leo has been carrying that same weight all along, just in a different way.

What 2012!Raph thinks of Rise!Donnie

“So that’s their Donnie. Even more of a nerd than ours, if that’s possible, and way more dramatic about it. ‘Soft shell’? What kinda ninja advertises their weak spot? His tech looks like it could do some damage, I guess, but he acts like he’s in a bad play. Our Donnie’s annoying with his science talk, but at least he doesn’t make a whole song and dance about it.”

Raph finds this Donnie, if possible, even more of a brainiac than his own brother, and twice as loud about it. The dramatic flair and theatrical pronouncements are incredibly irritating. While he grudgingly admits his gadgets are powerful, the personality is like nails on a chalkboard; his own Donnie is annoying, but at least he isn’t putting on a one-turtle show.

Initially, his smug, theatrical nature annoys Raph more than his own Donnie ever has. But then he sees him fiercely protect his brothers and starts to see the care underneath the ego. Okay, maybe he’s not that bad. Still too dramatic, though.

Raph doesn’t trust him at first; he’s too smug. But he protects his brothers without hesitation and pulls off insane tech saves that make even his Donnie raise a brow. Raph realizes this version hides his care under bravado, much like he does with anger. He doesn’t like it, but he gets it.

What 2012!Raph thinks of Rise!Mikey

“Another Mikey. Great. This one’s got weird fire things and calls himself an ‘artist.’ He seems even more hyper than our goofball. Does he ever shut up or sit still? He’s probably even more annoying than my Mikey, which is saying something. Though, gotta admit, setting your chains on fire is kinda cool, if you’re into that flashy stuff.”

Raph braces himself for double the pranks and noise. The mystic powers are different and maybe a little impressive in a chaotic way, but mostly he just sees another goofball who needs to learn to be serious.

This kid makes Raph laugh. He’s creative like his Mikey, but bolder, jumping into danger with a grin Raph deems either brave or dumb. It makes Raph see his own brother in a new light, wondering if he’s always been this gutsy and he just never noticed.

Raph is blown away by this Mikey, who launches into fights with fearless confidence. More than that, he listens, adapts, and leads in quiet ways. Raph realizes his own Mikey might have been doing the same thing all along; he just never gave him credit for it.

What 2012!Donnie thinks of Rise!Donnie

Initially, 2012!Donnie is impressed and overwhelmed by Rise!Donnie’s tech. Creations like his transforming battle shell are leagues beyond his own bo-staff inventions in sheer offensive capability and integration.

They butt heads at first. 2012!Donnie with his pragmatic approach, Rise!Donnie with his dramatic pronouncements. But then 2012!Donnie sees the genuine genius behind his counterpart’s creations, finding a kindred spirit in his passion for invention, even if Rise!Donnie’s dramatic presentation makes him roll his eyes.

An instant rivalry forms—not hostile, just hypercompetitive. They swap blueprints and finish each other’s calculations, and 2012!Donnie hates how much he likes his counterpart, who is obnoxious, brags constantly, and flaunts his tech with absolutely no scientific humility.

2012!Donnie secretly admires his counterpart’s confidence and wants to study his dramatic tech, recognizing him as a fellow, albeit flamboyant, genius.

What truly sticks with 2012!Donnie is how unapologetic his counterpart is. Rise!Donnie owns his brilliance, never explaining it away or downplaying it to seem humble.

That stings a little. He’s spent years being the behind-the-scenes problem-solver, and now he wonders what would happen if he allowed himself to take up that much space.

What 2012!Donnie thinks of Rise!Leo

“Fascinating. This Leo relies on spatial distortion and improvised, quippy maneuvers rather than traditional strategy. His grasp of leadership seems unconventional. He calls himself the ‘face man’? The scientific principles behind his portal generation are intriguing, I’ll admit. But his lack of overt planning and constant need for witty banter seems counterproductive to mission success. Our Leo would have an aneurysm.”

Donnie finds this alternate Leo a fascinating, perplexing study. He analyzes his portal-based tactics and “face man” persona as unconventional methods of team cohesion and enemy distraction. While the science behind the portals is highly intriguing, Donnie considers the lack of pre-planning and constant one-liners logically unsound for a leader.

Donnie is annoyed because this Leo reminds him of his own, if only 2012!Leo wouldn’t hold back. But he also has style, tactical creativity, and an uncanny way of staying ten steps ahead. It’s frustrating, mostly because Donnie respects it. He thinks the two Leos could learn from each other, if they ever stopped arguing.

I think (in my very naive and limited experience as an actually dedicated music fan to a living artist) that the most important thing to keep in mind as a fan is, “Don’t put words in your artist’s mouth, and don’t assume you know the inner workings of their mind, including their level of professional agency.”

The biggest thing I’ve noticed in K-pop in general and occasionally in certain BTS fan spaces (thankfully not in my experience with Jimin’s individual fan base) is a tendency towards either infantilizing grown adults (especially the men somehow) or assuming they have an absurdly unrealistic amount of power and agency that anyone who’s ever been an employee should not assume exists in any business. Both extremes are putting words in the artists’ mouths.

Instead of creating or passing around narratives in-fandom either positively or negatively discussing their level of agency, fans should instead think critically about the power dynamics at play in their professional lives.

What education level did your favorite star achieve before signing their first contract? Even Western artists who signed with labels before graduating high school have reported being cheated or otherwise exploited. Someone in K-Pop who signed their first contract before graduating high school is more likely to have become inured to unfavorable working conditions than someone who was already attending university when they auditioned or were scouted.

What was their childhood economic level? Someone raised in a lower-income or economically unstable situation is less likely to have access to a lawyer that can help them catch unfavorable terms or unreasonable conditions, and will be more likely to take the first opportunity instead of shopping around.

How much can an artist’s specific company be reasonably expected to invest in their career? Compare your artist to whomever is roughly equal in popularity level within the same company (if debuting groups being funded equally, for example, or perhaps comparing the funding given to each soloist and checking if any differentials are due to expected return on investment). If they’re being promoted over equally popular colleagues, they may have more bargaining power. If the reverse is true, they may have less.

What is the artist’s temperament, judging by how they react in off-stage content and interviews? While they still may be playing their assigned persona offstage, if a generally circumspect or mild-mannered individual lets slip dissatisfaction, take note. Conversely, if someone is known for being assertive and outspoken, trust that they will let their fan base know if something is rotten in the state of Denmark.

How much did the company invest in training/creating/developing the artist? Companies in the music industry run on big egos and greed. Promoting trainees which you discovered, mentored, or provided extra lessons for is an exercise in ego stroking, ensuring loyalty, and potentially having to pay that trainee less for longer. A trainee that needed minimal polishing and/or had skills gained outside of your company doesn’t raise company cachet as much when their star rises.

This is not an exhaustive list of why I find some reports of company mistreatment or benevolence more credible than others, but it’s a good starting point to the reason why I was fairly convinced it’s not all sunshine and roses at HYBE. I’ve watched some deep dives into the way their particular training program works compared to others, some honestly unconvincing justifications for their incompetence regarding spacing out album releases, read some interesting think pieces on the things Jimin values the most (stage performance opportunities, artistic connection of some sort to his material, the ability to practice and refine his efforts until they are perfect, achieving the vision and concept for each project), and those questions among others led me to believe that he is, at the very least, a threat to the justifications for their frankly baffling financial decisions this decade.

I’m neutral regarding initial FACE-era decisions (denial of a visual album, short promotion period, overlapping releases splitting fandom energy) being anything more nefarious and personal than neglect for his debut in favor of accommodating the rap line’s solo projects both financially and scheduling-wise (March and April 2023 had a lot of overlap just for BTS soloists), but the handling post him topping the BB H100 feels like a result of damage control regarding their Western expansion policy. Similarly, MUSE’s handling by Geffen feels more like a combination of retaliation to his fan base for upsetting their plans for Western record-setting the previous year and a devaluation of his financial importance to company investors by releasing it with minimal promotional budget and straddling two financial quarters.

This view allows me to only feel aggrieved by the things confirmed by the artist as not to his satisfaction (he wished he was given more time to prepare for FACE, he would have liked to have a full visual album) without kvetching about what we don’t know to be as meaningful to the artist (chart minutiae, record acknowledgement by the company or band mates). Reframing fan expectations to not dictate how your artist should feel about a situation and instead focus any group efforts on being conducted to show your appreciation for their artistry really improves the motivation of the fan base. It’s also way easier to motivate with love than spite, so I stream and vote because I really enjoy FACE and MUSE, not to beat any other artist or show up the company. But everyone curates their fandom experience differently, so mileage may vary on this philosophy.

Do you sometimes think that Jimin is the smartest member in the band and that he is one of the smartest people I have ever known? How can a person be aware of what is around him to this degree of accuracy? He knows exactly how to deal with people and fulfills the emotional needs of the person he interacts with. He also knows his goals well and always seeks to develop himself.

in every period of time you will find him has developed a new skill to deal with those around him. I find that in his saying, “Rather than pushing those people away, I learned how to react less emotionally to them,” there is an amount of maturity that I have never seen before in my life, and as a psychology graduate, I adore Jimin's way of encouraging himself with self-talk. I see that he uses many psychological methods to conduct his life, and this indicates that he is aware of the shortcomings in his personality and always tries to improve them. He is the member who shows the most change at the level of personality and self-acceptance from the days of his debut until now. I respect him very much.

Lastly, people may mistake Jimin's humility for his lack of confidence, but is there a person who does not have confidence who would say such things to his father when he was a child? I am always thankful for festa 2021 because it showed me the confident side of Park Jimin. He really can make his own way.
