Unnecessary Dark of Being
Compound resentment is not a retirement plan. If the steering wheel had a neck, it would be looking at me as I choke it to its demise. Gak-gak-gak. Throaty gasps gurgling. My gaze locked on its googly eyes as light leaves them. Har! Har! Har! Stereotypical bad guy. Still gripping it like it owes me lunch money. The sun hasn’t even finished climbing the shady lurker resting in the east—still…

Did timmy.... Change? Like, mentally? When he became a fairy? He acts off about his time as a human, did he forget he ever was one? did he just shove everything in a trauma box and refuse to look at it? And what are the new rules he put in place and why? Just what are the consequences?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Timmy did go through a mental change! Fairies and Humans are fundamentally different at their core, so Timmy changed as he switched between the two.
Many of Timmy's personality traits are amplified once he became a Pixie, such as his selfishness, his stubbornness, and his inability to accept responsibility. Meanwhile other traits are suppressed, such as his empathy, rationality, and his pessimism.
Timmy can mitigate some range of control over it by practicing or avoiding those traits. Although it is rather hard to do, as Fairies can only experience a single emotion at a time.

I think people need to learn, beforehand, to empathize more with victims of hurricanes. Helene is looking to be catastrophic and news reporting is going to frame a lot of victims as responsible for their own suffering.
People who do not evacuate, people who leave pets behind, people who try to drive through floodwaters, people who will go to the stores in the wake of the storm and will “loot” are all going to be demonized and blamed. Be framed as burdens to rescue efforts.
It should be understood that these people aren’t just being stubborn or cocky or greedy. Or don’t love their pets enough. Often, these are people who have no choice.
Not everyone has somewhere to go to. Hotels get booked up fast and often have no pets policies. Traffic to evacuate is horrific and slow. Gas, lodging, fresh groceries because you have to leave all your food behind may not be affordable for the people who “choose” to stay behind. Maybe they don’t have a car or enough space to fit their entire household.
Many people’s jobs will not let them have the time off to leave until the very last minute and they cannot afford to lose their jobs.
Many people have medical devices that cannot be easily transported and they can’t leave behind.
There are many reasons to shelter in place.
And when the government abandons them or takes their precious time helping them out, they will be hungry and desperate. And deserve the food and supplies left behind. It is not looting when lives are on the line.
And even if they had all the means to evacuate, all the time in the world and no traffic in their way… they do not deserve to die, lose everything, or face prosecution or shaming for what they have to do to survive. Hubris is not a punishable offense.
We need to counter these harmful narratives now. And never let the victims of natural disasters be blamed, especially not with climate change making things worse and the most vulnerable people being seen as acceptable losses to it.

It's always "omg this character is sooo autistic coded 🥰" Until that character has low empathy and/or sympathy, is considered "rude", doesn't understand social cues or vague boundaries, doesn't act stupid, helpless, or weak, or has higher OR lower sensory needs, then suddenly it's a Problem and they Aren't "sooo" autistic coded anymore.
Really goes to show how many people just see autism as this cute quirky trait instead of an actual disability that. yknow. Disables the person who has it.

I've been contacted multiple times now for a scam on this site which is...
If someone contacts You, asking you to buy a commission (with listed reasons too like rent or food)... you need to watch out. All scams are shitty, but this one especially is taking advantage of an inclination to trust people and want to help :/ you should always, of course, verify where your money is going before you send it
Multiple times after posting with the word 'commission' in it, I've had accounts reach out asking if I'm buying any. Once the post in question was me being excited i had a commission in progress— definitely not a rime im likely to be buying another, but the scammer was likely just searching for any use of the word and messaging en masse
The accounts have art on them, but all reblogged or posted in a short time frame, fairly recent, and only a page or two total. This art is stolen, usually from very small artists, making it harder to backtrace. Talking to the person will be quite rushed towards reaching a payment. But there isn't necessarily one obvious script here
I'm just saying.... generally, artists don't reach out from the blue to ask you to commission them. People can work in various styles, but check someone's page. Reverse image search if there's any hackles raised. Legitimate people do have new accounts or no professional profile, and may need money desperately... but there are 100% scammers out there too.
It feels extremely shitty to accuse someone of being a scammer, but if you don't feel you can trust them, you can ALWAYS politely decline and refuse further conversation. "I'm not looking to commission right now, but thank you".
(In slightly similar scam watch, my ancientass never used Fictionpress has been overflowing with a similar but more obvious version of this— someone going "I love your writing!! I'm an artist and would love to make art for your story?". I've received like 10 variations of this script now. They're either wanting money full stop, or hoping to get you to pay for AI slop.)

Shout-out to self shippers with "scary" disorders, and I'm talking about the really stigmatized ones. Shout-out to self shippers with "bad" and "scary" symptoms. Shout-out to self shippers who are trying to be good and still do bad things because of their disorder.
Shout-out to schizospec self shippers, shout-out to system self shippers, shout-out to cluster b self shippers, shout-out to low empathy self shippers and shout-out to everyone else who not only has to deal with their mental health issues but also the fact that nobody else understands. And to those who are deemed crazy or evil.
Your f/o loves you, actually, and despite how many times you fall into tendencies that are "too much" for anyone else; they will always love you. No matter how many people call you evil, they will still love you and they will know there's a part of you that wants to be good.
And you know what? If there's no part of you that wants to be good and you're still doing your best to remain kind despite your nature, I see you, and your f/o does too. And they still love you, they always will.

I have a problem with the idea of a Jinx redemption arc. It's not that I have any issue with the fact that Jinx will be viewed as a hero to the people of Zaun. It's pretty obvious Jinx would be admired, she did a thing the people of Zaun wanted en masse for a long time. The thing about Jinx being the savior of Zaun is that it isn't really a redemption arc, because that's still just Jinx being militantly opposed to Piltover, a thing she always has been.
My problem is that the insistence that Jinx NEEDS to have a redemption arc takes away from the larger complexity of Arcane's worldbuilding. What does Jinx have to apologize for in order to be redeemed? Why is there so much emphasis on Jinx's character specifically to rectify her wrongs? And the way the fandom often defines Jinx's wrongdoings centers around a vague discomfort in her acts of violence and general instability.
What does it look like for Jinx to be "good", when the actions of many well-intentioned characters that the audience has an easier time being morally-aligned with either generates very little benefit or actual harm? No one in the cast sans Jinx and Silco have taken the material steps (as controversial as they may be) to deal with the problem that is Piltover, and Piltover has always been THE problem for Zaun.
The concept of a redemption arc for Jinx is so backwards because it asks Jinx as an individual to do "better" when it should be demanded of Piltover instead. How do you live to a standard that makes you morally good when the environment around you necessitates violence as it's own form of capital?
Sidenote: This all leads to the one real worry I have about Jinx and Ekko's inevitable partnership. Ekko is the character the showrunners treat as a guiding light in Zaun, which unfortunately makes Ekko an agent of the showrunners' biases. Case in point, Ekko's friendship with Heimerdinger, the architect of Zaun's despair.
If Jinx and Ekko team up, there's a chance she'd up end up working with Heimerdinger too. And it's like, "C'mon, really????"

i think my favorite thing abt pentiment is that no matter who you point your finger at during act 1 it'll leave you feeling hollow even if you're convinced of their culpabilibity bc ultimately they were all victims of the baron who is the system and class privilege personified
