Crossover Headcanons: Worldbuilding Edition

A collection of DPxDC headcanons from myself and various posts, in no particular order.

Green stuff

Dionesium is, or is one of the main decay byproduct of, ectoplasm. It is the defining element in Lazarus water.

Lazarus water is a naturally occurring compound that amplifies certain effects of ectoplasm. Concentration of ectoplasm in the waters is surprisingly low despite the appearance.

College trio as the Doctor Three. Who lead the study on dionesium in Gotham University at some point.

Talons created by the Court of Owls are a special type of liminals, and communicates within themselves via a dialect of ghost speak.

Realms stuff

Infinite realms, or pockets within it, had been observed and accessed before, by different civilizations under numerous different names.

The Kryptonians used the realms as a means of banishment, which they called the phantom zone.

GIW stuff

GIW is operating under All Purpose Enforcement Squad (APES), headquarters in mount Rushmore.

Anti-ecto Acts is a set of old laws dating back to civil war era, only brought back into practice in recent years.

Liminals have significantly higher chance of activating metagene. May or may not be causing the metagene mutation in the first place.

Anti-ecto Acts might be intentionally exploited as a backdoor to meta protection acts.

Ring stuff

Pariah Dark's ring of rage turned into the phantom ring after Danny officially claimed it. It enhances all emotions of the owner equally.

Danny lost his ring at some point and it became known to the lanterns as the phantom ring.

In the hands of realm ghosts the phantom ring glows green regardless of the emotion it is enhancing, as ghosts are beings of pure will. Otherwise it is black with a faint white glow. (Can't believe this one matches up, I love lore stitching)

Balance stuff

Danny bears both Life Force and Death Force in equal amounts. His only way to accessing them is channelling a mixture of the two to power his ghost wail.

Ghost Wail infused with both acts like a simple sonic attack. But if powdered only by death force it's functionally the same thing as Void Wind, which 'negates the power and immortality of the gods. Enabling it to shut down any form of arcana used against it'.

Dark Danny only process death force as he no longer have a human side for balance. His death infused wail could be how he destroyed the world without much interference from magic users.

Danny's Wail can be infused with only life force instead, which would eviscerate ghosts. Possibly only possible when he is in human form.

Glitchy stuff (not really DC related)

Dark Danny's attack on Clockwork's tower created some pretty severe glitchs in time (ha) across all of the living realms.

As the clocktower take damage some universes collapsed together, and some timelines became contradictory and paradoxical (typical comic reboot am I right?😅)

After Dan finally calmed down he becomes the ultimate errand boy for clockwork. Showing up an fixing things he broke under the guidance of the ghost of Time.

Stranger stuff

Dan got sentenced to Life (literal) in an alternate ending of glitch in time, which capped his destruction and eventually calmed him off.

Reformed Dan is doing social services as penance, in the DC multiverse he goes by the alias of Phantom Stranger.

Crab off! --gives your Loop a mouth-- because in this family not eating Bonnie's food is a crime.

So, remember this comic I did the other day? At first it was just gonna be a random Odile looping au comic, but then I said "what if the family DOES interact with Loop in the fic I'm writing?" And this happened.

A little explanation (cause I don't know when will I finish this fic so I may as well tell the story in comics or something):

We apply the 'teams' here (beauty alliance and opposite sides of the age spectrum alliance). That means (since act 4) Mirabelle knows Isabeau is looping, Isabeau knows Mirabelle is looping; Odile knows Bonnie is looping and Bonnie knows Odile is looping; but no one knows EVERYONE is looping (I will assume this makes sense).

Why hasn't Loop say anything about this to the other family members? Because.

Why hadn't they told Siffrin that the rest of the party is looping? Because Siffrin knows already but he's in negation, to put it simple (and because something something they know Siffrin would mcblinding lose it and they don't want that)

I'm also gonna add the little fact that Loop's mask only works with Siffrin, and it slips a bit TOO often with the rest of the family.

I've seen a lot of people writing Danny as a space ancient and Dan and Dani as ghosts with moon and sun cores, being sort of parts, versions of Danny and therefore weaker. Now, consider: Dan and Dani are both powerful ghosts with really cool cores and stuff but Danny is just some guy™

Dan, who came from an alternate timeline and is kind of from the future but also not, is Clockwork's apprentice and will eventually become an ancient of time. He probably only agreed to have some lessons with Clockwork to understand better what happened to him, but he enjoys his apprenticeship now.

Dani, with her love of travelling, loves seeing all the different places the world offers to her, and that includes space and different planets and maybe even parallel universes, and she accidentally ends up being an apprentice of the space ancient. For now she's probably a baby ancient of freedom or something like that, but she might become an ancient of space in the future.

We can also have something like Dan having a core of destruction or Dani being the Speed Force if you want it to be dcxdp, or any headcanon of yours about their cool powers.

And then there's Danny. And yeah, everyone knows that he's super powerful, but also he's just some guy.

It can go different routes. Does everyone know that Danny is just Danny? Or do they think that with siblings (well, technically a clone and an alternate version, but whatever) so powerful, he must be even stronger? Is Danny actually something terrifyingly eldritch and ancient and strong, almost a god, but he just doesn't know himself? Or is he just really some guy?

Now, because it's obvious that I have a dcxdp brainrot, have a regular "JL summons/meets a powerful ghost" but its Dan and Dani, and they keep mentioning their original/brother who won a fight against them at some point. The JL is very concerned about Dan and Dani's godlike powers, and they can't imagine what Danny is like. And then they meet him (in his human form), and it's just a young adult in casual clothes, very friendly and helpful, with no evident powers. Imagine the confusion. Imagine Dan and Dani, radiating power, in their eldritch ghost forms, admitting that fighting Danny for real is the dumbest thing to do and not even they would succeed... And then there's Danny is jeans and silly t-shirt, waving shyly.

DP x DC Prompt: The Watchlist

Batman has a watchlist. A list that contains every individual who could become a rouge and a contingency plan for if they did.  

And while they, his children, often make fun of his paranoia and him for having it, they totally understand why he did. They lived in Gotham, for Christ's sake. Where everyone’s just a pin drop away from being the city’s next big villain, forcing the bats to scratch their heads while playing cat and mouse with a sicko for a good few weeks. And while they won’t admit it, the list has helped them a few times. 

But that won’t stop them from making fun of any of the list’s new developments. Because you see, there was a new list. And it wasn’t just a watchlist. No, no, no. It was The Watchlist.

It was a new development after he and Robin went on an out-of-state mission to investigate some town in bum fuck nowhere Illinois. And it was under some pretty tight security as well, so they were expecting something good, like mad scientists or evil mayors. Not profiles of the kids who lived in the town. And while there were a few metas and vigilantes that made the list interesting, by the end of it all they just seemed to be teenagers. 

Until they saw Damian. They hadn’t seen him since he came back from the mission with B. He looked tired. Like ‘Tim hasn’t slept in a week and is surviving on just coffee beans’ tired.

“Ah, I see you all have found it. Good. A few of them will be arriving next week as they’re a part of Gotham Academy’s student exchange program. At least three of them will be staying in the manor with us. Father will need you all to be on standby and to be ready for any possible scenario. Please, for the love of all that is good, do not encourage them in any way, shape, or form. And please do not dismiss them either. The outcome of doing that will be much worse. Is there more that I should add? Yes. Will I? No, because you won’t understand. Not until you've seen what I have.” 

The demon child sighed, then looked them dead in the eyes. “Godspeed to us all.” Then walked away.

Okay, they were scared now.

Summary:

It’s a normal day for Alfred Pennyworth. He spends it taking care of the manor and watching over its inhabitants, just as he does every other day. It’s an exhausting, never-ending task, that he wouldn’t change for the world. But that night, he is confronted by a stranger in his rooms with a copy of every single soul-binding contract he’s signed for the protection of his family. The new Ghost King wants to update his terms and conditions.

Alfred POV, Ghost King Danny, with some Post-Vivisection goodness and only a little (a lot) of blood and gore and medical fun, but that's for later. Not for the squeamish, please check the tags!!

It’s a normal day for Alfred Pennyworth.

He wakes up early enough to be ready to greet Master Duke with breakfast when he shambles into the kitchen, he cleans, he greets the rest of the manor’s residents when they finally make it downstairs, he cleans, he goes down to the cave to rouse Master Tim from another sleepless night, he cleans.

It’s a quiet day, or as much as one can be when the place he calls home is filled with vigilantes.

He drops off Masters Damian, Tim, and Duke at school and uses the rest of the trip to pick up some groceries for dinner. Coq au vin tonight, he thinks, it’ll be perfect for the changing of the seasons. A mushroom and lentil substitute for Master Damian will do lovely.

The rest of the day is spent preparing the meal and doing a spot of gardening before it’s time for the school run again. He can’t help but smile fondly as he listens to them needle and tease each other, only stepping in when it starts to become too pointed.

Yes, it’s a normal day for Alfred Pennyworth. It’s at night when it all changes.

There’s a ghost waiting for him in his room. 

A soft glow emanates from the creature’s vaguely transparent body and a crisp frost creeps slowly across the floor, sparkling in the darkness like diamonds.

“Mr. Pennyworth?” it says, the voice bouncing off the walls so that it sounds like hundreds of beings instead of one.

Fear squeezes at his heart and the air in the room turns dark and heavy, so that Alfred struggles to breathe. His mouth is dry, his head is swimming, and he’s not entirely sure if he’s going to survive the night.

anyways long story short, the other day I was running errands while my MP3 player kept on playing songs on shuffle from the Index/Railgun franchise while I was thinking about my aoex fics... and I ended up with a fusion AU as a result, lmao. it definitely takes more heavily from the science side of the franchise but the only thing you really need to understand about the franchise is the knowledge that

a.) it takes place in Academy City, an independent city state largely populated by students and houses hundreds of schools, with the primary goal of unlocking and developing esper abilities that rank from Level 0 (no ability) to Level 5 (the highest possible rank and the least common).

b.) it has a dark underside that makes Section 13 look like a harmless daycare. these fuckers especially like trying to unlock the theoretical Level Six or dual abilities.

c.) orphans taken in by Academy City are called Child Errors. those who have abilities without the need for Academy City's development program are called Gemstones.

okay! now I can actually talk about the AU, lmao.

the key points are:

rin and yukio are twins living in academy city, who unlike most of the other students, live there with their mother yuri in a church run by shiro. rin is a level 5 pyrokinetic and yukio is a level 0 with no ability of his own.

for years, rin was unable to fully control his own ability- he's possessed his flames since he was born and has been powerful from the starting gate. everyone in the family except for yukio have burns somewhere on their body from rin's early lack of control, but rin himself has the most- he keeps them covered, but his hands and arms are pockmarked with old burn scars.

these days he has excellent control of his flames!

...but he still has a reputation of being dangerous and out of control regardless, so most people are too afraid to actually talk to him- except for those who want the glory of beating a level 5 in a fight. he constantly finds himself getting into fights that isolate him further at school.

despite his bad reputation, yukio has still grown up in rin's shadow. people expect him to be equally as strong as his brother- but he doesn't have an ability at all. instead, he's devoted himself to his studies, an area in which his brother struggles.

upon entering high school, rin is determined to actually make some friends for a change. he and yukio enroll in true cross academy- both on a scholarship- yukio for his academics, and rin for being well. a level 5.

shiemi is also a level 5! her ability is plant manipulation. unbeknownst to her, her grandmother and mother have both served on academy city's board of directors- and for that exact reason, they've done their best to keep shiemi far away from the dark side of academy city.

shima is a level 4 pyrokinetic who wields black flames, and secretly works as an enforcer for the dark side of academy city. he actually ran away from home in middle school to enroll in academy city because he didn't want to follow the path his family had set out for him.

ryuuji and konekomaru are his childhood friends, who came after him in their last year of middle school to convince him to go home, but ended up staying. the temple they all grew up in is still impoverished- and with the scholarship they both obtained, they get free housing and meals.

ryuuji is a level 3 who can generate barriers! you fuckers can't all have pyrokinesis. konekomaru is probably a level 2, but I actually haven't decided on what his ability is yet. definitely something support, since he's more suited to that.

izumo is a level 3 who can manipulate electricity. she and her sister are child errors who were taken into academy city after tamamo did a murder suicide with their father. with no one to protect her, izumo got entangled in a shady experiment upon arrival and is doing her best to protect tsukumo from it.

(paku is also a level 0 who stubbornly befriends izumo)

amaimon and takara are here to carry the flag of level 5s who have something deeply wrong with them. earth manipulation and telekinesis respectively.

what rin and yukio don't know about their origins is that they're the result of an attempt to artificially create a level 5. rin was the experiments only real success, but it became clear that unless something drastically changed in his environment, he was going to destroy himself.

thus, one of the scientists proposed a plan- raise him as a normal child, and see if that helped with his control and stability. to that end, she took one of the failed experiments with her and created the setting that they were twins. both rin and yukio are clones of a gemstone who was given the codename Satan, though they've had tweaks so they're not necessarily identical.

yuri voice: i'm just raising them for the experiment. i'm not going to get attached.

pov: you are shiro. a woman has arrive at your church with twin children, looking for sanctuary. you don't turn her away, even if you can tell she's lying- because her eldest child looks almost identical to your own long dead twin brother at that age.

Musical talent

It was quiet.

Too quiet.

Toon Vee was miserable, looking for something to do. She went to ask her Modern version if she wanted to do anything, but she was too busy posing with one of Shanon's new plants, a cactus in a pineapple shaped pot, for her Shelly. The Modern fossil was taking plenty of pictures of them, so she decided to see what her own fossil was up to. Toon Shelly was just working on a new sowing project, silent on the couch, snug under her favorite blanket. She was laser focused, so Vee sighed and turned towards the closet her guitar was in. She hasn't played since the other two got there, she really missed doing so, but she had no idea if they'd like to even listen to her... She walked over and opened the closet anyways, grabbing the wooden case her guitar was in and carrying it out, putting it in its usual spot beside the couch before she went back over just to grab her guitar pick pouch and close the door, then come right back. The Modern duo hadn't noticed, as the Modern Vee had found a new pose that made the cactus pot shine and they were snapping countless pictures of it, so Toon Vee just shrugged and opened the case right up, grabbing the beautiful sparkly green acoustic guitar Shanon had gotten for her. She tuned it quietly, which got an excited look from the toon sitting beside her, then she started playing one of Toon Shelly's favorite songs. Within seconds Toon Vee was singing along and enjoying herself again, and the look her Shelly was giving her now was priceless, full of love and wonder. Modern Shelly noticed and silently snuck over, taking a few pictures of them. They were perfect, Toon Vee looking as peaceful as could be while Toon Shelly was awestruck and lost in love. Modern Shelly giggled a little, taking more photos of the two, then she returned to the very obviously jealous Modern Vee.

"You're my photographer, not theirs." The jealous robot whispered, getting a soft chuckle from the modern fossil as she looked over the pictures she took. One was just perfect, she had caught them looking into each other's eyes, Toon Vee was caught in the middle of signing with a smile on her face, her guitar close but her focus was purely on her favorite toon in the world. Toon Shelly was staring right back at her, her mouth slightly agape from wonder as she gripped the freshly made plush dinosaur in her hands, the look of love being obvious in their eyes.

"Young love is so beautiful to photograph though." Modern Shelly whispered, showing the photo to her jealous lover. Modern Vee looked at it, then smiled as she pulled her photographer close.

"Okay, they're an exception. They're so adorable." She whispered back, putting her monitor on the fossil's shoulder as the two sat in blissful silence, listening to the toon sing her heart out to her own fossil and play the guitar perfectly. Beautifully.

"That kid has so much talent..." Modern Vee whispered, sinking closer to her lover as she just listened. Modern Shelly only replied with a nod, putting her camera down just to snuggle up into her host and get comfortable against her, listening to the music peacefully. While it may not be what they usually listened to, as she was singing a German love song so nobody knew what she was singing about, it was really nice. They can set down the glitter and chaos for once... Right?

No. They couldn't. The whole kitchen became a glitter disaster again after Toon Vee decided guitar time was over and convinced Modern Vee to make glitter cupcakes with her.

It was good while it lasted at least...

Had some ideas for Upstairs Downstairs Hazbin Hotel expys. Still very much in a WIP stage, but check it out if you're interested! (also I only ended up seeing like 6-ish? episodes of it, but I did like what I saw, and I read a few Wikipedia summaries too!)

This one covers expys of Alfred and Sarah, but hopefully other characters are to follow!

Alfred-

Potential Death name: Soleil, if renamed by the French speaking Sarah expy, with her telling him that for all the darkness there can still be light and salvation. He would likely initially be resistant to taking on a death name as he views it as lying, but she points out that their former employees forced him to take up the name that to their eyes best suited his role, and that this was closer to authenticity than that was.

Species: Sinner Demon

Gender & Pronouns: Cis man, he/him

Sexuality: Gay

Description A smoke demon, he becomes more corporeal the calmer he is and more smoke when more agitated. When fully (or nearly fully) corporeal he looks very similar to when he was alive, with dark wavy hair, pale gaunt features, and slightly stooped posture, though slightly hazy and immaterial, emitting a gentle glow and heat. In full smoke form he remains humanoid, but grows in height and is composed of thick roiling smoke with eyes that glow with a nauseating white heat. He cannot dissipate from this form, but he can generate more smoke that fills the surrounding area. He may not have a full demon mode, or is perhaps merely to timid to have discovered it yet.

Occupation: In life he was a footman, though thus far in hell he has not secured a lasting occupation and is currently squatting in a largely dilapidated building with his companions.

Cause of Death: Hanged for murdering an aristocrat (in self defense, as the man sadistically abused and tortured him though the judge wouldn't hear it).

Location of X: Visible in the back of his throat due to being hanged (additional, far smaller xs are sometimes visible in the smoke swirling around his body in smoke form, as he was suffering severely infected injuries prior to his execution that likely would have killed him had they not)

Powers: He has the ability to impair others' breathing due to being hanged, produces a painful aura of heat when agitated, his corporeal touch can burn (temporary) Xs onto the skin of others

Personality: Extremely anxious, paranoid, and traumatized. He was very religious throughout his life, learning to speak through scripture and religious versus (he's autistic) and is now largely unsure how to proceed. He often behaves strangely, but ultimately is very protective of his found family.

Bonus:

The traits of his Sinner Demon form come from how he was suffering a fever from infected wounds at the time of his death, feared fire, burning, and hell, and how these things were used to torture him (thus driving him to commit the murder, thereby being just as responsible for his death as the rope.
